A ruthless woman with an obsession for luxury sets her sights on creating the most extravagant fur coat ever—but at a terrible cost. She steals 101 innocent puppies, determined to turn them into fashion, unaware that her greed will soon backfire.
‘SPOILER ALERT’
After an alarm clock falls on his head, a Dalmatian dog named Pongo wakes up and heads to the bathroom to open the tap. He also wakes up his owner, Roger, before making some coffee and picking up the milk bottle just delivered to the house. Elsewhere, a lady named Anita, and her Dalmatian dog, Perdita, watch a news report about a Siberian tiger that has just been skinned illegally by unknown perpetrators at the London Zoo.
Anita feels bad about this, and she wonders who could’ve done something as cruel as that. Later that day, Roger also reads the story in the newspaper before heading for an interview at a game publishing company that is interested in buying his game. As he gets there, the manager of the company lets a boy named Herbert play the game first to determine whether he likes it or not.
Roger doesn’t quite understand this, but the manager tells him that Herbert has really impressive instincts, and that for a couple of years now, he has selected the top-selling games in the country just by playing them first. After Herbert is done with the game, he says it’s promising, but that he doesn’t like the bad guy. As he mentions that many people won’t like the game, Roger asks if that would change if he replaced the villain with someone who can be hated.
Herbert says it’s not about hatred, and that the villain just needs to make him have a desire to annihilate him or her. After Herbert leaves, Roger looks disappointed because he still hasn’t sold a game, and he’s also running out of money to continue taking care of himself. Elsewhere, a lady named Cruella arrives at her fashion design agency.
As she walks in, she meets Anita, who happens to be her top fashion designer, working on some designs inspired by her Dalmatian dog. Cruella admires the designs, and as she also sees a picture of Perdita on the table, she picks it up and calls her a charming dog. Anita says that Perdita inspired her to make the design, and Cruella tells her to come to her office with the drawings.
As they get there, Cruella asks Anita for more information about the spots on her dog. She adds that she has worn a dress with leopard spots before, but that she thinks Dalmatian spots are more classy. Cruella seems to be really interested in the spots, and she tells the company’s manager, Frederick, that she’s considering changing their entire clothing line to incorporate spots as opposed to the stripes they’re currently working on.
Shortly after, she tells Frederick, and another staff member named Alonzo, to leave so she can talk to Anita. After they leave, Cruella talks about how Anita is not very popular despite being a really good fashion designer. She adds that she’s worried that another company might steal her away with a lucrative offer.
Anita says that if she has to leave, it won’t be for another company, and Cruella asks what she means. Anita says she would only consider leaving the company if she gets married and shares different goals with her partner. Cruella finds it weird that she would consider leaving after getting married, but Anita says it’s nothing to worry about because she doesn’t have it in her plans yet.
Before Anita leaves, Cruella says she wants to make some changes to the drawings. She then calls Alonzo to bring them to her. After she collects them, she draws another layer of coat designed with spots. She also mentions that she wants it to be made with fur, but Anita thinks it’s a wrong fashion choice.
Cruella doesn’t seem to care, and she mentions that she loves fur and worships it. As Anita sees the modified design, she finds it amusing and tells her boss what she thinks. Cruella then mentions that if they were to make the coat, it would be as if she was wearing Anita’s dog. As she laughs strangely, Anita looks shocked and doesn’t know what to say. Shortly after, while Pongo is waiting for Roger outside the game publishing company, he sees Perdita and immediately falls in love.
As Roger ties the dog’s leash to his bicycle, Pongo chases Anita’s bike so he can catch up with Perdita. Roger doesn’t understand this, and he tries to get his dog to calm down, but Pongo keeps running really fast. His leash eventually gets loose, and Roger falls into a pond.
Pongo then goes to sit next to where Anita is playing with Perdita. After a while, Roger starts looking for Pongo and eventually sees him in the park. Interestingly, Anita has already seen Pongo and is standing with him, so Roger makes the mistake of thinking that Perdita is his dog. As he grabs her so he can put a leash on her, Anita sees this and tells him to leave her dog. Roger tells her not to disturb him, and as she thinks he’s trying to steal her dog, she slams her purse on his head.
Roger falls to the ground and eventually sees that Perdita is not his dog. As Pongo stands next to Anita, Roger says sorry to her for making a mistake by trying to take her dog. Anita then asks why he’s wet, and he says he crashed into the pond. She feels concerned for him and suggests going to the hospital, but he says he’s fine. After they shake hands and exchange names, they talk about how they both have a fondness for Dalmatians.
As they see their dogs also touching each other, Roger mentions that it seems Pongo and Perdita like each other. Shortly after, Roger leaves with Pongo, and Anita stares at him while telling Perdita that he seems like a nice person. As Anita leaves the park on her bicycle, Perdita sees Pongo and races toward him while he’s going home with Roger.
In the process, Anita falls into the pond, and Roger turns back when he sees this. After Roger saves Anita, he takes her to his house, and she thanks him for helping her. As he then sees their dogs together, Roger mentions that he thinks Pongo is in love.
Anita says it’s the same for Perdita, and Roger says it’s quite sad because they’ll be heartbroken when she leaves his house. Anita says it will be hard to live with a heartbroken Dalmatian, and Roger says the same. She then says that they have to think of how to deal with the situation, and Roger agrees.
As he’s about to head to the kitchen to get another cup of tea, Roger decides to ask Anita if she wants one too, but he mistakenly calls it a cup of marriage. Anita sounds shocked to hear this, and Roger says it was a mistake. However, Anita mentions that she would actually be interested in marrying him if he asks her.
Roger looks surprised, but since he also likes her, he asks if she would like to be his wife, and she accepts his proposal. The next day, Anita and Roger get married at a church in the city. Interestingly, Pongo and Perdita also get married in front of some dogs. A few days later, two men, Jasper and Horace, arrive at the house of a man named Skinner to collect a package meant for Cruella.
After Skinner gives it to them, they leave his house and head over to visit Cruella, who gets pissed when she sees a story about Anita’s marriage in a newspaper. When the men arrive at her house, she tells them to show her what they came with. Jasper then opens the case and shows Cruella the skin of the Siberian tiger that was killed at the London Zoo.
Cruella looks happy to see it, and she places it on her body to see how it would look as a fur coat. Elsewhere, Anita’s Nanny visits her and starts helping her arrange some things around her new home with Roger. As Nanny talks about Anita starting a family, she says that she and Roger aren’t ready yet. Nanny then mentions that they’ll have puppies first, and as Anita wonders what she means, she says that Perdita looks pregnant. As she talks about the telling signs, Anita notices that she also has some of them.
Since this could mean that she’s pregnant, she heads to a clinic with Roger to get tested. After a while, she comes out looking happy because the pregnancy has been confirmed. She and Roger also look happy for Perdita, who has also taken a test to confirm that she’s pregnant.
On their way back home, they see that Cruella has come to visit them. When they enter the house, they see Cruella looking around the place. As she sees them, Cruella greets Anita and admires the dogs. When Roger tries to greet her, she rejects his handshake and says she can’t believe Anita married him because of his dog.
As she then talks about work and how she misses her top fashion designer, Anita mentions that she still sends in her designs regularly, but Cruella says she misses their interactions at the office. After this, she asks what Roger does for work, and he says he’s a video game designer. Cruella doesn’t think it’s a good job, and Roger feels insulted by her response.
He then mentions that Anita is pregnant, but Cruella doesn’t seem to be happy for her because she doesn’t care about babies. Roger says they’re expecting puppies too, and Cruella looks happy about this. She says it’s better news than that of the baby because she adores puppies.
As she’s leaving, she tells them to let her know when the blessed event will occur. Anita says it’s in eight months, but Cruella mentions that she’s talking about the puppies because she has no use for babies. She then laughs strangely and leaves the house, but Roger and Anita don’t seem to know what she’s talking about.
A few nights later, Nanny and Anita help Perdita deliver her puppies. Interestingly, Jasper and Horace spy on the couple to confirm whether the puppies have been born. After they get their confirmation, they pass on the information to Cruella. After a while, Perdita gives birth to 15 puppies, but one of them doesn’t make it. As Nanny hands over the dead puppy to Roger, he looks sad and consoles Pongo for losing a baby.
However, Pongo gestures to Roger to pat the puppy’s back, and as he does this, it regains consciousness. Roger is happy about this, and he gives the puppy to Nanny while saying they have to name him Lucky. Shortly after, Pongo is then allowed to go inside to see Perdita.
The next night, Cruella comes to the house to see the puppies for herself. She initially looks happy to see them, but when she notices that they don’t have spots, she complains about this. Anita says that their spots don’t usually come until later, and Cruella asks if she’s sure. As she says she is, Cruella tells Anita and Roger to put the puppies in a bag so she can take them away. They both look confused, and they tell Cruella that the babies need to stay with their mother for several weeks after they’re born.
Cruella then tells them to reserve the puppies for her until they’re old enough to leave their mother’s side. She also offers them some money, but Roger can’t seem to believe that she’s actually trying to get them to sell the puppies to her. As he rejects her money, Cruella makes fun of his job and asks if he’s now rich. Roger looks pissed by her response, but Anita calms him down. Cruella then offers to pay them 7,500 pounds for the puppies.
Despite the huge amount they’ve been offered, the couple rejects it, and this gets Cruella pissed. She then insults them and leaves angrily while saying they’ll be sorry for rejecting her offer. The next day, Nanny buys new leashes for the puppies, and Roger and Anita join her in naming them.
Later that night, after Roger and Anita leave the house with Pongo and Perdita, Jasper and Horace sneak into the house while Nanny is alone inside. They then lock her in the cupboard, after which they find the puppies and load them into their truck. One of the dogs in the area suddenly starts barking at them, and Horace tells Jasper that it seems the dog knows what they’ve done.
Jasper says it’s unlikely, and they leave the neighborhood together. As the dog in the area keeps barking, it sends a message to Pongo and Perdita, who leave the park immediately. Roger and Anita don’t know what’s wrong with them, but as they get home, they see that the puppies have been stolen.
Nanny then mentions that two strangers just entered the house and locked her in the cupboard before stealing the puppies. Elsewhere, Cruella calls Jasper to ask for an update on the puppies. As he says that they’ve accomplished their goal, Cruella ends the call and tells Skinner to add the 15 puppies to the ones they’ve stolen before so she can get the fur coat she wants.
Skinner adds up the number of dogs they’ve stolen, and it turns out that they have 99 Dalmatian dogs already. Cruella then laughs hysterically while talking about how she’ll be wearing Anita’s puppies. Shortly after, Jasper and Horace stop at a restaurant to buy some things. A dog breed called a terrier sees one of the Dalmatian puppies poking its head out of Jasper’s truck. As Jasper and Horace eventually leave with the truck, the terrier follows them until he sees them stop at one of Cruella’s old estates.
Meanwhile, Anita and Roger report what happened to the police, who say they’ll do their best to find the dogs. Despite this, Roger doesn’t feel optimistic that they’ll find the dogs in such a big city. Pongo looks sad to hear this, and he eventually heads to the roof to use a twilight bark to communicate with the dogs and other animals in the neighborhood to help him look for his puppies.
After a while, the animals meet on a nearby farm, and the terrier also shows up to inform the others that the puppies have been stolen, but he knows where they are. The next day, the animals send a dog to Pongo to inform him that the location of the puppies has been confirmed. Almost immediately, Pongo and Perdita leave the house to join the other animals on the farm.
Roger and Anita look shocked by this, but they’re unable to stop the dogs. Meanwhile, the terrier heads into the estate and climbs the roof of the house. As he slides down, Horace hears something, but Jasper says he’s just making things up. Shortly after, the terrier enters the house and hears Horace talking about how their job is no longer lucrative. Jasper tells him not to worry because he believes they’ll be paid well after delivering the puppies.
He adds that after they get the money, they’ll leave the city before anyone realizes that the puppies are dead. The terrier looks sad to hear this, and he starts going around the house to look for the puppies. He eventually sneaks into a locked room and sees the 99 puppies inside there. Meanwhile, Cruella calls Skinner and tells her that he needs to kill the puppies before anyone finds out that she’s the one who got them stolen. Following this, Skinner leaves his house and heads to the estate to do his job.
Elsewhere, Nanny tells Roger and Anita that she’s sure Pongo and Perdita will return, and that they likely just went out to look for their puppies. Roger says he knows who stole the puppies, and Nanny mentions that she also believes it’s Cruella. As Anita thinks about it, she remembers her drawing and realizes that Cruella wants to skin the puppies to get the fur for her coat.
This makes her sad, and as she tells Roger, he also looks scared for the puppies. A few minutes later, some animals sneak into the estate to begin a plan to save the puppies. As part of the plan, they mess with Jasper’s truck before positioning themselves in different spots around the house. Meanwhile, Jasper tells Horace that it’s time to get rid of the puppies. Horace says that Skinner isn’t around yet, but Jasper believes they can also kill the animals without anyone’s help.
As Horace asks how he plans to kill them, Jasper suggests hitting them hard with a fire iron. Just before they head to the room where the puppies have been locked in, they hear a knock on the door. As they check it, they don’t see anyone, and this leaves them shocked. They then return inside, only to hear another knock on the door. They’re left shocked by this, and as they go outside to see if anyone is around, the terrier starts leading the puppies out of the room so that they can escape together.
When Jasper and Horace return inside, they hear the truck’s horn, and as they go outside, they see some animals playing inside it. Jasper looks furious and shouts at them to leave, but the animals still keep hitting the horn and making noises inside the truck. Jasper and Horace eventually chase them away while the terrier is still leading the puppies to find the best way out of the house.
Interestingly, Lucky is asleep while the others are leaving, and since the terrier is unaware of this, he’s left inside alone. As Jasper and Horace enter the house again, they see a puppy urinating on a magazine that has Cruella’s face on the cover. They realize that the puppies have escaped from the locked room, but as they’re about to run after the one in the living room, they fall to the ground after stepping on the dog’s slippery urine.
Following this, the terrier gets the puppies to leave the estate. After Jasper and Horace stand up, they continue their search for the puppies. Horace then mentions that they need to be careful, but Jasper thinks there’s nothing to be scared of. He eventually tells them to split up to find and kill the puppies. After a while, Jasper sees one of the puppies in the hallway, but as he’s about to grab it, he falls down a hole and gets trapped by the statue of a bull’s head that lands just over where he fell.
Horace also sees the puppy and tries to catch it, but he ends up falling out of a window and into a very cold pool outside the house. With this, the dog starts barking, and the terrier goes back to rescue him. Shortly after, Cruella arrives at the estate and notices that something is wrong. As she asks Jasper for the puppies, he tries to stall her with a long story, but he eventually mentions that the puppies are missing. This gets her really pissed, and as she complains about this, a skunk enters her car to hide inside.
After a while, she leaves the estate and decides to join the search for the puppies. As she keeps driving, she sees their foot tracks on the floor near a flock of sheep, but she doesn’t think they’re in the area, so she leaves. It then turns out that they’re actually hiding under the sheep. After she leaves, they run out of their hiding spot and head toward the farm. Meanwhile, Jasper and Horace blame each other for not stopping the puppies from escaping.
As the truck fails to start working, Jasper tells Horace to check the tailpipe to see if there’s a problem. While checking it, Jasper keeps trying to start the car, and as it works, the stone blocking the tailpipe enters Horace’s mouth, and his face also turns black due to the smoke from the pipe. Meanwhile, Lucky wakes up and realizes that the other puppies are gone. Unfortunately, Skinner arrives at the house and sees Lucky in the living room. Since the plan is to kill the puppies, Skinner tries to grab Lucky, but the terrier shows up and attacks him.
Shortly after, Horace tells Jasper that he needs to turn on the car heater because he’s freezing. Jasper tells him to endure it, but Horace gets pissed and turns it on. This causes the engine to go up in flames, and they both look shocked because they don’t know what to do. Elsewhere, Roger and Anita report Cruella to the cops as a suspect in the missing puppies’ case. After the police check Cruella’s house, they find the Siberian Tiger’s skin and tell Roger and Anita that their suspicions have been confirmed.
The police chief also mentions that according to Cruella’s staff, she left the house for a family property on another side of the city. He adds that he has informed the local police in the area, and they’ll be looking out for Cruella and the puppies. He also tells Roger and Anita that he hopes their efforts won’t already be too late.
Shortly after, Pongo and Perdita are reunited with their puppies and the other ones that were stolen from other people by Cruella and her men. While looking for the puppies, she sees another set of foot tracks leading to the farm. As she parks her car, one of the dogs sees her and alerts the others to hide. After they do this, Cruella heads for the door and tries to come in, but a horse knocks her away. Despite falling badly, Cruella stands up and picks up a rake, which she plans to use to kill the puppies if she catches them.
As she then sees a tail on top of a shelf, she drags it down, but it turns out to be a pig that falls on her. With this, the puppies are able to run away to find another place to hide. Meanwhile, Jasper and Horace ditch the truck and start walking to find the puppies. As they keep arguing about the puppies, they see foot tracks on the floor just in front of an electric fence. Jasper thinks the dogs weren’t smart to have left foot tracks, and he suggests climbing over the fence to get to the other side.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t work out as expected, and they both get electrocuted and thrown off to the other side. Despite this, Jasper and Horace still stand up to continue their search for the puppies. After a while, the cops arrive in the area and get them arrested. While they’re inside the cop van, they look happy because they won’t have to deal with the animals anymore. As Horace then looks to his side, he sees Skinner inside the van and realizes that he was also caught at the house.
Elsewhere, Cruella stands up again, but she looks pissed to see a skunk wearing her hat. As she tries to force him to give it up, she falls into a big reservoir of manure. She barely survives inside there, but as she climbs her way out, she insults the animals and talks about how they’ll eventually be used for her coat. She also praises herself and says that she always gets what she wants. The animals don’t seem interested in her speech, and a horse jumps down on a part of the wooden floor to throw her out of the farm.
Cruella lands inside another section of the farm filled with manure, and while she’s there, the cops arrive, and the police chief tells her that there’s a warrant for her arrest. Cruella pretends not to know what he’s talking about, but she still gets arrested by the cops. After a while, the cops see the puppies running on a field, and the terrier also shows up with Lucky.
One of the cops then calls his boss to inform him that they’ve rescued 101 Dalmatians. Shortly after, while Cruella is inside the van with the rest of her crew, she insults and blames them for everything that has happened. She also talks about the damage they’ve caused to her reputation and business.
As she checks her coat, she unknowingly picks up a skunk inside the van. Before she realizes this, the skunk sprays its foul-smelling liquid in the van, and they all scream for help, but the cops don’t listen to them. Shortly after, the cops drop off Pongo, Perdita, and the puppies at Roger and Anita’s house.
As they look happy to see their dogs again, one of the cops asks if they wouldn’t mind accommodating the other puppies because they’ve not been claimed yet by anyone. Roger seems to be open to this, but Anita says they don’t have space to keep any more dogs. Roger says they can get a bigger place, and Nanny also supports this.
Following this, Anita agrees to let them stay in the house, and the cops unload the puppies. A few days later, Roger develops an upgrade to his game, with Cruella as the villain. As Herbert plays it, he calls Cruella an excellent villain, and the game publishing company’s manager agrees to buy the game. Roger is happy about this, and Anita also looks pleased to see that he has sold a game that will change their lives.
A year later, Roger and Anita now have a baby girl, and they’ve moved to a big countryside house with Nanny. While the dogs are playing around the house, Roger, Anita, and Nanny talk about how things have changed for them. As they also talk about children, Anita announces that she’s pregnant with another baby.
Even though Cruella could’ve found alternative materials for the new design, she still seemed bent on using real animal skin for her coat. She successfully did it with the Siberian tiger and attempted to try the same thing with the Dalmatians despite Anita’s advice that it was wrong.
She eventually got caught and even became the face of the villain in Roger’s game. This serves as a reminder that cruelty to animals is never justified, and we should always make responsible decisions to support the welfare of these creatures.
