The Dirt Bike Kid (1985) Full Recap
Got to take this motorcycle back to Mr. Zach. It's his now. A boy named Jack quietly watches an advert for a motocross competition on TV. Almost immediately, a phone starts ringing, and his mom, Janet, leaves the kitchen to tell him to answer it. Jack doesn't seem to hear this because he's more interested in the motocross ad.
After Janet heads back into the kitchen, she hears the phone ringing again and she's forced to abandon what she's cooking so she can answer it. The caller eventually turns out to be a lady named Miss Clell who tells Janet that she has been shortlisted for an interview at the bank where she submitted an application. Janet looks happy about this. I'm trying to sneak out and she answers some of Clell's questions about her interest in the role she applied for.
Suddenly, Janet struggles to hear Cleavell clearly, and she tells Jack to lower the TV volume. Jack still seems very distracted, and he ignores Janet, even when she tells him to check the bacon she's frying in the kitchen. Janet doesn't realize that Jack isn't paying attention to her, and she continues talking to Clellation. Almost immediately, the smoke alarm in the kitchen starts ringing.
And as Janet hears this, she tells Clell to hold on for a while. Jack, the police are on the phone and she then heads to the kitchen and sees that the bacon has gotten burnt. As she looks pissed, she takes out a pair of scissors and heads to the living room to cut the TV cord. This happens to be enough to get Jack's attention, and he complains about what his mom just did.
Janet doesn't seem to care about this, and she asks if Jack can even hear the smoke alarm. Before he can say anything, Janet continues her call with Clell and agrees that she can come over to the office at any time. After the call ends, she heads to the kitchen and tries to clear the smoke so that the alarm can stop ringing. After Janet manages to clear the smoke, she tells Jack that she has a job interview and that she needs his help.
She then gives him their last $50 bill and shows him a grocery list, after which she asks if he can do the shopping and bring home all the change. Jack says it's not a problem for him, and he immediately heads out of the house. After riding his bike away, he stops at a motocross event where he sees his friend Bo. As he then talks about how much he likes bikes, he sees that a boy named Max has one.
Interestingly, it turns out that Max is not happy with his bike. And as he kicks it a few times, Bo jokes that he needs to get a horse. Jack still admires Max's bike, and as Bo walks away, he mentions that he would do anything to have a bike like that. A strange man then walks toward him and says that the bike is special.
Jack doesn't seem to understand this. That bike is special, but the strange man says that the bike needs a special rider to make it great again. He adds that Max doesn't deserve the bike and that he'll have to buy it back. Almost immediately, Max and some other junior riders prepare to start the race.
As everyone looks excited, the race begins, but Max's bike fails to move past the starting line. Jack finds this funny, but Max eventually gets his bike moving. Surprisingly, he overtakes all the bikes ahead of him. But as he's about to extend his lead, the bike suddenly stops. After he manages to get it moving again, he overtakes all the riders and takes the lead.
Jack then looks surprised and cheers for Max to win the race. Before he reaches the finish line, though, Max's bike stops again and he falls face down on the muddy ground. Max looks disappointed by this and he gets overtaken by another rider who wins the race. Shortly after, Max pushes his bike past the finish line and seems pissed that it ruined his race.
Jack sees this and quickly runs to tell Max not to destroy the bike. Max tells Jack not to tell him what to do with his bike, and he continues slamming it on the ground. Jack then tells him to calm down because someone wants to buy the bike. Surprisingly, Jack doesn't see the stranger anymore, and Max says no one would want to buy a piece of junk.
Jack says he would, but Max doesn't believe this. Jack then shows him the $50 bill, but Max says his bike is worth more than that, as he talks about how the bike made some impressive jumps during the race. Bo shows up and tells Max that if he adds his helmet to the deal, Jack will pay him the $50 plus his BMX bike. Max looks interested in this, but Jack tells Bo that the $50 bill is meant for groceries.
Bo still encourages Jack to buy the bike, and he mentions that Janet will understand that he had to do it because the deal was very good. After this, Jack pays for the bike and heads home. However, when Janet sees it, she looks shocked and wonders why he bought it. Bo then excuses himself and tells Janet that he told Jack not to buy the bike, but he didn't listen.
After Bo leaves, Jack tells his mom that such bikes always cost a lot of money, but that he only had to trade his BMX bike to get it. Yes, it wouldn't have been fair otherwise. Janet looks shocked to hear this, but Jack says it was a fair deal as Janet says she can't believe he did something like that. She suddenly remembers the groceries and asks if he bought them.
Jack says he didn't have any money left after he bought the bike, and this gets Janet pissed. She then sends him to his room and says that she'll have to think about what to do next. Later that night, Jack sneaks out of his room and heads to the garage to clean up his new bike. After it looks brand new again, Jack sits on it and pretends to be riding it, even though he doesn't turn on the engine.
Almost immediately, the bike comes on by itself and leaves the garage with Jack. Jack tries to tell it to stop, but as the bike speeds past a cop car, a cop named Flirty starts chasing it. Jack looks disappointed by this, and after repeatedly telling the bike to stop, it does just this. Flirty then leaves his car and walks toward the bike as Jack complains that his mom won't be happy when she hears that he's in trouble.
Mom's not going to like this at all. The bike suddenly speeds off, and this catches Flareity by surprise. He eventually returns to his car and informs the police chief about the rogue biker who is trying to evade arrest. Just as he nearly catches up to the bike, it manages to jump over a building and Flarity's car ends up hitting a wall.
Jack looks impressed by how the bike got away from the cop and he says that it's really special. Almost immediately, a bike gang led by a man named Big Slime approaches Jack to bully him and sees his bike. Don't look like much, but see how it sounds. After Big Slime throws Jack off the bike, he decides to ride it to see how well it works.
Interestingly, Big Slime is unable to turn on the engine, and as he wonders what's wrong, the bike suddenly comes on and moves recklessly before throwing him off. Jack then enters his bike and escapes just as Big Slime says he'll catch him later. Suddenly, the bike flies into the sky, and Big Slime looks shocked when he sees this. Jack also looks confused, but he admires the aerial view of the city before the bike takes him home.
When they get there, Janet hears a strange sound around the house, and she wonders if Jack is in bed. As she heads up to check on him, Jack quickly sneaks in through the window. And when Janet enters his room, she sees him there. The next morning, Jack wakes up and sees his mom struggling to put the bike inside her car.
Jack looks surprised by this, and as he asks what Janet is doing, with a little bit of luck, I'll get my $50 back, Mom. She says she wants to sell it so she can get her $50 back. Jack says she can't do that because it's a special bike, but Janet doesn't seem to care about this. Jack then tells her that the bike has amazing powers, but Janet doesn't believe him.
Jack looks disappointed as she drives away, but there's nothing he can do to stop her. After a while, Janet sells the bike to a man named Mr. Zach, who owns a spare parts shop. As Janet heads back home, the bike leaves the store without Mr. Zack knowing about it. Elsewhere, Jack tells Bo about the things he did with his bike the previous night, but his friend doesn't believe him.
Shortly after, they meet up with their peers to play a baseball game. Oh, that. While representing a team called Mike's Dog House. Their coach, Mike, then calls them together and encourages them to perform well against their opponents, who are sponsored by Hodgkins Bank. The kids look motivated by this, but Mike notices that Jack is sad.
He then asks what's wrong and as Jack explains what happened with his bike, the coach gives him some advice to make him feel better. He also mentions that Jack can always reach out to him if he wants to talk. Almost immediately, the coach of the other team, Clell, who also works as a personal assistant to the CEO of Hodkins Bank, comes over to meet Mike. She then mentions that she just discovered something that she wants to tell Mike.
Mike doesn't seem interested in talking to her and he just walks away. It then turns out that Mike is actually pissed because Clevel's boss, Mr. Hodkins, is trying to demolish Mike's dog house to build a new bank branch. Shortly after, Hodkins arrives and looks pleased to see that his team is about to win the game.
Almost immediately, Jack is called out to bat for his team, and Mike encourages him to do well. After Jack steps out, he misses the first ball and Max jokes that Jack's swing is just as rusty as the bike he sold. Suddenly, the bike shows up behind the fence, and Jack looks excited as he sees it. Following this, he hits the second ball cleanly and runs around the pitch to score a point for his team.
Just as he's about to reach home plate, Max blocks him and catches the ball. The umpire then announces that Jack is out, but he refuses to accept this. As a fight breaks out between the two teams, Mike quickly separates them and tells Clell that he's sure she saw what Max did. Clell then stammers while saying she didn't get a good view of the play.
And as the umpire confirms that Hodkins Bank has won the game, Mike looks disappointed. Meanwhile, Jack goes to check on his bike, and he tells Bo that his mom might have changed her mind about selling it. As Bo then admires the bike, Jack offers to give him a ride to the doghouse, and he gladly accepts. After this, Jack rides the bike past Hodkins, who is praising Max for winning the game illegally.
Jack eventually gets to the doghouse with B, and as they head in, they see their teammates having a food fight against their opponents. Mike happens to be distracted while playing a game, and as Clevel tries to talk to him about the bank's position on demolishing his doghouse, he seems pissed. He then yells at the kids and tells them to leave. As everyone heads out, Jack goes to ask Mike what's wrong.
Mike says he can just ask Clell. And as Jack turns to her, she mentions that an analysis done by the bank's computer has selected Mike's doghouse to be the perfect site for a new branch. Mr. Hodkins in the boardhouse. She adds that Mike has one week to leave before the bank comes over to tear down the doghouse.
Mike seems pissed by this and as he yells at Clell, she just leaves. Jack then tells Mike that he has to fight for his dog house, but he mentions that there's nothing he can do. Almost immediately, Jack runs outside to ask Cleavell if there's anything she can do to help Mike. Clell says she can't do anything because she's just an employee.
And Jack looks disappointed because if Mike's dog house gets demolished, the kids in the town won't have a place to hang out anymore. Suddenly, Jack's bike moves toward him. And as he climbs onto it, he says he has to do something to help Mike. Before Cle can say anything, Jack speeds off with his bike, and she looks confused.
Elsewhere, Janet arrives at Hodgekkins Bank for an interview. While Hodkins is admiring the design for the new bank branch, he's informed that a new candidate has arrived for an interview. Hodgekkins says she can come in, and Janet is allowed to see him. Interestingly, Hodkins seems interested in making Janet his mistress.
And as he flirts with her, I tried to stop him, Mr. Hodgekkins. Jack suddenly enters the bank on his bike. The guard tries to stop him, but the bike just barges into Hodgekkins office. Jack looks shocked to see his mom there, and she also asks what he's doing there. Jack says the bike brought him there, but Janet accuses him of taking it from Mr.
Zach's store. Jack says he didn't do that. But before Janet can respond, Hodkins looks pissed and asks what a motorcycle is doing inside his office. Jack then asks why Hodkins wants to demolish Mike's doghouse without a good reason. Hodkins doesn't seem interested in answering this, and he just calls the guard to come and throw Jack out of his office.
Before he can do this though, the bike suddenly destroys the new design, and Hodkins looks pissed. Janet then tries to help him rearrange it, but he sends her away. Shortly after, Jack goes to Mr. Zach's shop to return the bike. However, as he starts missing the bike, he comes to an agreement with Mr.
Zack to take the bike if he helps the store with some deliveries. After he does this, he heads home with the bike, but his mom still thinks he took it from Mr. Zack. Jack then explains what happened, and he mentions that he won't cause any more trouble with the bike. Janet looks happy to hear this, and she tells Jack not to barge into people's offices anyhow without making an appointment.
She adds that if he wants his grievances to be heard, he has to go through the system. Following this, Jack heads to Hodgekkins house to apologize for what he did. When he gets there, he tells the bike to stay outside because he wants to do things the right way. Throw the ball in.
Interestingly, Hodkins happens to be inside the house with another candidate who he's trying to flirt with. As Jack rings the doorbell, Hodkins goes to check who it is. After he opens the door, Jack says sorry for what he did and he asks if Hodkins can do anything to save Mike's dog house. Hodgekkins says the decision to demolish Mike's dog house was made by the board of directors and Jack asks if he can meet them.
Hodkins appears to be in a hurry because he wants to go back to meet his guest and he tells Jack that he can come to their meeting tomorrow. Jack looks happy about this and as he returns to his bike, he mentions that it's always good to go through the system. As he also insults the bike, it refuses to take Jack home and he looks disappointed. Suddenly, Big Slime and his gang try to ambush Jack when they see that his bike is not working.
Jack then begs the bike to work and as its engine comes on, he manages to escape from the gang yet again. The next day, Jack wears a suit and leaves the house after telling his mom that he has a meeting with the bank's board of directors. But he could have made a mistake. Shortly after, Jack arrives at the bank and Clevel goes to tell Hodkins that he's around.
Hodkins says he doesn't know Jack and he tells Clell to send in the reporters so he can show them the new design. Clevel looks disappointed by this and she heads outside to tell Jack that Hodkins doesn't want him inside. Mike also happens to be with them. And as he thinks of what to do next, Jack says being a rebel is the best way to get things done.
Before Mike can understand what he's saying, Jack rides the bike into the bank and interrupts the meeting by destroying the door and the bank's new design. Hodgekkins looks pissed by this. And as he nearly attacks Jack, the reporters ask what's happening. Hodgekkins then says it's just a little entertainment because he doesn't want the press conference to be dull.
Jack notices that Hodkins is trying to say nice things because of the reporters and he asks about Mike's doghouse. Hodkins looks frustrated by this, but he just tells Jack that he's ready to talk about it. As Mike and Clell get to the boardroom, the guard informs them that the directors are actually listening to Jack. Mike looks surprised by this, but he still seems unsure that Jack will be able to convince Hodkins to change his mind.
Clell tells him to be optimistic. And as the meeting ends, Jack tells Mike that the doghouse is now safe. Mike looks confused by this, but Hodkins announces that he and the board of directors will do everything they can to find an alternative location for the bank. Mike looks happy about this and he organizes a small party at the doghouse to thank Jack for helping him.
The next day, Jack sees that the dog house has been closed down. As he wonders what's happening, Mike says that Hodgekkins still wants to go through with the demolition. Jack looks disappointed by this and he goes to ask Hodkins about the deal they had the previous day. Hodgekkins says he couldn't find an alternate site for the new bank and that his computer has selected the doghouse as the best possible location for the construction.
Jack doesn't believe this, but Hodgekkins just tells him to go home. Mike then tells Jack that he has to know when to give up, but he says that he won't. Following this, he takes one of the bank's construction trailers toward the road, and as it gets destroyed, Hodkins looks pissed. Coincidentally, Flity happens to be in the area, and Hodkins tells him to arrest Jack.
Despite chasing down Jack for a while, the bike eventually flies away and Flarity looks shocked. After this, the bike lands near Jack's house, and he just takes it into the garage. However, Hodgkins and the cops show up at his house to take the bike and lock it up at the police station. Jack looks disappointed by this, but there's nothing he can do.
Later that night, he gets a call from the police station telling him that someone has paid the bail for his bike. Jack looks happy about this, and as he gets there, he realizes that Clell paid the bail. She then mentions that even though she can't stop Hodkins from destroying Mike's doghouse, she can still save Jack Spike. Jack thanks her for this and says that he's heading home immediately.
Now work for it. On the way, the bike stops at the construction site and takes down the fence around Mike's doghouse. Jack seems pissed by this because he'll only get into more trouble. The bike doesn't seem happy about this. And as it refuses to take Jack home, he says that he doesn't need it anymore.
Shortly after, Jack arrives home and complains to his mom about how the bike never listens to him. As he says that he hates it, Janet looks confused because she knows how much her son loves the bike. Later that night, as Jack starts missing the bike, it appears outside his window and manages to transmit a message to Jack's computer. Interestingly, it turns out that the bike is giving Jack an idea to tap into the bank's computers to find out why Hodkins really wants to demolish Mike's doghouse.
Following this, Jack reads a few things about computers before sneaking into his school with B. After Jack starts using one of the school's computers, Bo asks why he didn't just use his own, and he mentions that his computer can't tap into the bank's computers. All right. Meanwhile, Hodkins sees the damage done to the fence at the construction site, and he calls the police chief to find the bike and keep it impounded because he doesn't want anything to ruin the groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow.
He also meets up with Max, who invites Big Slime and his gang to help with catching Jack. Elsewhere, Jack taps into the bank's computers, but he's still unable to find a connection between the bank and Mike's doghouse. Bo looks amazed to be in control of the bank's computers, and he increases his bank balance to 50. He also adds a million dollars to his neighbor, Widow White's account.
After this, Jack suggests checking Hodgekkins bank account, and they notice that he has only about $1,000 in it. As they look surprised, Jack digs further and figures out that Hodkins is trying to get the bank to pay his real estate company for the purchase of Mike's doghouse. Since this explains why Hodkins is bent on demolishing the doghouse, Jack prints the document as evidence. The next morning, Flity finds Jack's bike, and as he informs the police chief, he's told to bring it to the station.
When he gets there, the bike manages to throw him off and escape. And this leaves the police chief disappointed. Elsewhere, Widow White comes over to withdraw the money in her account. And as Hodkins sees this, he looks confused because he knows that she doesn't have any money. He then tells Clell to deal with the situation, but she says she's tired of doing his dirty work.
Meanwhile, Jack leaves the library and bumps into Big Slime and his gang. As Big Slime then grabs Jack, the bike suddenly shows up at the scene. Jack then hits Big Slime's head and quickly escapes with the bike. The biker gang still chases him, but he manages to avoid getting caught.
Elsewhere, the police chief calls Hodkins to inform him that the bike has still not been found. Hodkins looks pissed by this, and he threatens to foreclose on the chief's overextended mortgage if Jack or the bike interrupts the groundbreaking ceremony. Meanwhile, Clell convinces Mike to fight for his dog house, and they look excited as they head there together. of the Hodgekin team. Welcome.
After the ceremony begins, Hodkins shows the guests a remote that controls the bulldozer, which will be used to tear down the doghouse. Before he turns it on, Mike and Clell arrive with Mike's little league team to protest against the demolition of the doghouse. Hodkins tells the cops to do something to stop them, but the chief says he can't do that because they have a right to protest. Hodgekkins looks pissed by this and as he orders someone to do something, his little league team starts throwing some pies at Mike's team.
Unfortunately, the bank's directors also get hit with the pies, and this annoys Hodkins. He then controls the bulldozer to begin the demolition. Before it gets close to the doghouse, Jack shows up with the bike to stop the bulldozer. Surprisingly, the bike manages to push the bulldozer back and Jack goes to confront Hodgegkins about what he just discovered.
The Dirt Bike Kid (1985) Ending Explained
Hodgekkins just pushes him away. But as Janet sees this, she throws a plate of pie on his face. The bike then moves the bulldozer toward Hodgekkins car to destroy it. As Hodkins looks shocked, the bike bumps into him and carries him away along with Jack. Hodgekkins then looks really scared as the bike moves quite fast and he tells Jack to let him go.
However, Jack refuses to do this unless Hodkins agrees to use some of his money to save Mike's doghouse. Hodgekkins says he can't do that. But after Jack speeds through the woods and even interrupts a motocross event, he changes his mind. After this, Jack decides to stop and the bike throws Hodkins into a dirty pool of water.
Almost immediately, Mike and Clell meet up with Jack, who tells them that Hodkins has agreed to save the doghouse. Hodgekkins then confirms this and begs them to help him get out of the water. Jack looks happy about this, but as he looks at his bike, he notices that the lights are faint. He then realizes that it has run out of magic, and as Janet asks what's happening, he tells her about the bike.
Janet feels sorry for him, but he asks if it's possible that his magic is now working for him. Janet says it is, and that Jack's late father used to say that everyone has a little bit of magic in them, but that it always takes something special to help them find it. She then tells him that when he finds his own magic, no one will be able to take it away from him. A year later, Mike and Janet help with the decorations to celebrate the opening of the new bank.
As they head into the doghouse, they see Cleavell, who is now pregnant with Mike's baby. Shortly after, Jack arrives at the event on his bike. As Hodkins also reaches the venue, he seems hesitant to get out of the car, but Jack encourages him. Following this, Hodgekkins comes out wearing a hot dog costume to show his support for Mike's Dog House.
After this, Hodkins gives a speech to announce the grand opening of Mike's Dog House and the new bank branch. It then turns out that as part of Hodgekkins agreement with Jack, just see that it doesn't happen again, he had to build the bank right behind Mike's doghouse. Meanwhile, a young boy at the event goes to check out Jack's bike as he says he would love to have a bike like that. The strange man from earlier shows up and mentions that it's a really special bike when it has the right rider.
The young boy then climbs onto the bike and as the engine comes on, it starts taking him around in circles. Janet looks shocked and tells Jack that it's his bike, but he says it's now where it's supposed to be. After Jack buys a bike, which turns out to be magical, he decides to use it to stop Hodkins from demolishing Mike's doghouse. Even though he initially gets into a lot of trouble with the bike, Jack refuses to give up, and he eventually accomplishes his goal by getting Hodkins to agree to a deal that works for both parties.
Unfortunately, the bike loses its magic after this. And as Jack wonders if he'll still be special, his mom tells him that he has his own magic which no one can take away from him.
