10-Year-Old Boy Raises a Giant Bear and Becomes His Best Friend.

A 10-year-old boy stumbles upon a helpless bear cub and decides to raise it as his own. As the cub grows into a massive, powerful bear, their bond only gets stronger. But as the world sees the bear as a threat, the boy must fight to protect his best friend at all costs.

‘SPOILER ALERT’

After his father abandons him and his mother, Patty, a boy named Timmy Failure sees an imaginary bear named Total walk into their apartment. Timmy doesn’t seem to be scared, and he even offers Total his cereal. Years later, Timmy grows older and becomes interested in being a detective in his small town of Portland.

He sets up a small office in his house and also recruits Total to be his partner at his detective agency called Total Failure Inc. As part of his standard operating procedure, Timmy hates collaborating with local law enforcement agencies, and he also seems to have a particular dislike for the Russians in the town. One day, after Timmy leaves the house with Patty’s segway, which she has told him never to use, he heads to the house of a boy named Gunnar, who has been looking for his missing backpack.

Timmy offers to help Gunnar look for it, but he says he needs to do an investigation to discover where it could be. Gunnar doesn’t really seem interested in this, but he allows Timmy to come inside his house. Timmy asks a few questions about the things in Gunnar’s room, and after a while, he says he’s done surveying the crime scene.

Before he leaves, he sees a room belonging to Gunnar’s brother, Gabe, who has an instruction on the door for no one to come in. Despite this, Timmy opens the door and meets Gabe sharpening a stick. Gabe looks shocked to see a stranger inside his room, and he tells Timmy to leave.

Interestingly, as he locks the door, Gunnar’s bag appears to be inside Gabe’s room, but he doesn’t see it. Meanwhile, Gunnar sees Timmy leaving the room and looks scared for him. He says that Timmy shouldn’t have gone inside the room because Gabe is in middle school, and he’s a bully.

Timmy then mentions that he only went inside there to find some clues regarding the missing bag. Gunnar asks if he found anything, but Timmy says he just noticed that Gabe is rude. After he leaves the house, Timmy heads out and takes some time to think about Gunnar’s case.

When he eventually gets home, he continues working on the case in his small office until Patty returns from work and calls him to come out to have dinner at a nearby restaurant. While they’re there, Timmy tells Patty that she needs to get rid of her clothes because he needs more space for his office. Patty says she won’t be throwing her clothes away, and that Timmy has to consider finding another place for his office if he needs more space.

Timmy then says he’d love to have his office downtown, and Patty jokingly asks why he’s thinking small when he can set up his global headquarters in New York. Timmy thinks about the possibility of this, but he tells Patty that he’d prefer to stay in Portland. Patty then tells him that if he can finish his food, they’ll pick up commercial real estate listings on their way home.

Timmy looks pleased about this, and he says he’ll consider hiring Patty for his company’s global planning position. Shortly after, Timmy arrives home and looks at the real estate listings they picked up. Unfortunately, the rent appears to be really expensive, and Timmy tells Total that they need to crack Gunnar’s case as soon as possible so that they’ll gain some recognition and make some money.

The next morning, Timmy heads to school and sits on a bench just across the gate with Total. His friend, Rollo, calls him to come inside, and Timmy stands up and tells Total that they’ll meet up after school. He adds that he’s sorry Total can’t follow him inside because the school has an anti-bear policy.

Following this, Timmy heads inside alone and calls the school management hypocrites for planning an upcoming program for animal awareness month when they don’t allow bears to come in. As Timmy enters his class, his teacher, Mr. Crocus, who he thinks is problematic, tells him that it’s his turn to take care of the class hamster, Hammy Ham. He adds that Timmy needs to pick up the hamster from the house of another student named Maxine, who is currently taking care of it.

Timmy says he’s too busy to do that, and Maxine offers to keep the hamster at her house longer, but Crocus doesn’t like this. He then threatens Timmy to either pick up the hamster or be sent to detention. Timmy thinks about this and immediately agrees to do the right thing.

Timmy then goes to sit at a table with three of his classmates, Molly, Rollo, and a girl named Corrina, who he calls the nameless one because he doesn’t like her. Interestingly, Rollo happens to be a former employee of Timmy’s detective agency, who he had to let go of because he’s always nervous. After Crocus distributes test sheets to the students for a surprise test, he mentions that he’ll be grading the students based on the combined average of their groups.

Rollo doesn’t seem happy about this, and as Molly asks what the problem is, he says that Timmy will make them fail because he never studies. Timmy says that grades are the least of his concerns, and as Molly asks what he means, he looks at Corrina strangely and mentions that he can’t work in a team with the nameless one. Molly doesn’t understand this, but she says she’s sure they’ll be able to find a solution to his problem.

Crocus catches her talking, and he asks if she wants to say something to the class. Molly says she doesn’t, but that Timmy might have something to say. Crocus then tells Timmy to speak to the class, but he just stands up and refuses to say anything.

After this, Crocus tells him to sit down, but since Timmy doesn’t want to sit at the same table as the nameless one, he just pushes his chair toward the back. Crocus doesn’t understand this, but he tells Timmy to return to his normal position. As he still refuses, Crocus sends him out of the class.

Later that day, Crocus calls Patty to the school to report what her son did. He also mentions that even though Patty has been to the school about 11 times in the past, Timmy’s grades or behavior hasn’t improved, and he doesn’t seem to care. Patty says he cares, but that he does so in a different way.

Crocus then mentions that if he doesn’t see any changes in the next few weeks, Timmy will be suspended. Patty doesn’t want this, and she says that she’ll ensure Timmy behaves well. Crocus then says it’s important for Timmy to change because he’s supposed to move to middle school with his peers after the current school year.

As he talks about how big, intimidating, and stressful it will be, Timmy thinks about this and seems really scared of middle school. Crocus then tells Patty that if Timmy doesn’t improve, he’ll find middle school really hard, and he won’t be able to cope. Patty says she understands, and she tells Timmy to apologize to Crocus. Timmy looks confused and asks what he’s apologizing for, and Patty says it’s for disrupting the class. Timmy says he’s busy with his test, and that he needs to focus on it because his group is depending on him.

Patty cannot believe this, and as she instructs him to apologize, he only mentions that mistakes were made. Patty and Crocus look shocked by this, but Timmy seems quite unbothered. On their way home, Patty talks about how Timmy needs to behave well because she can’t afford to have him suspended from school.

Even though Patty continues talking about her concerns, Timmy starts considering the possibility of dropping out of school after fifth grade. The next day, Timmy takes Patty’s segway to Maxine’s house to pick up Hammy Ham. As Maxine comes out to meet him, she asks if he can keep a secret, and he says he can.

She then takes him inside and shows him that Hammy Ham is dead. Timmy thinks of it as another case for his agency, but Maxine clarifies that she didn’t kill Hammy Ham, and that she’s even on the planning committee for the Animal Awareness Month program. Timmy then tells her to bring him a shoe box so that he can take Hammy Ham to the lab to determine the cause of death.

After she gives him the shoe box, Timmy puts the dead hamster inside and takes it outside. However, he’s unable to go anywhere because he can no longer find the segway, which he parked outside. Timmy looks scared not only because Patty will be pissed at him, but he also seems worried that the missing segway will mark the end of his career as a detective.

Timmy looks particularly pissed at Total for not watching the segway, and as he complains about this, he heads to Rollo’s house. There, he meets Rollo’s mom, who tells him that her son is at his fencing class. Timmy doesn’t really get this, but as he heads to the address, he sees that Rollo is one of the students training to play the sport.

Timmy believes Rollo is training to be an assassin, and he records a message to himself to be careful around his friend. Shortly after, Rollo leaves his class and walks home with Timmy. On the way, Timmy talks about the missing segway and how it could be an attempt by a criminal to sabotage his work.

He adds that he would like to recruit Rollo again since he now has an additional skill set as an assassin. Rollo says he’s only taking fencing classes because his dad thinks it might increase his chances of getting into Stanford. Timmy says it’s a waste of time, and that he’ll speak to Rollo’s dad to change his mind. Rollo tells Timmy not to do that because all he ever does is get him in trouble. Timmy denies this, but Rollo reminds him of one time he got them in trouble at a glassware store.

Timmy then shows Rollo that Hammy Ham is dead, and it’s one of the reasons he’s looking for his segway. Rollo looks surprised and mentions that the same person who killed Hammy Ham might’ve stolen the segway. Timmy likes this suggestion, and he tells Rollo that it couldn’t have been Maxine because she was with him when the segway was stolen. As they wonder who it could be, they both mention the Russians as likely suspects. Rollo then agrees to help Timmy find the segway if he agrees to study and help their group get good grades.

Timmy says he will, and he eventually heads to the library to meet a lady named Flo to gather intel on the Russians. Flo happens to be the librarian, and she looks confused when Timmy keeps talking about looking for Russian operatives in the area. Almost immediately, Molly shows up and delivers the fliers for the Animal Awareness Month program to Flo.

She also asks Timmy if he would like to volunteer for the program, but he just asks if Molly knows that the school has an anti-bear policy. Molly says she doesn’t know, but Timmy says that the policy is really tearing down the school. Molly looks confused, and she asks Timmy to tell her more about it, but he says he’s busy collaborating with Flo, who denies it and says she doesn’t know any Russians.

Molly says she does, and that Corrina is half-Russian. Timmy looks shocked, but as he asks if Molly is really telling the truth, she says she is. Later that day, when Timmy gets home, someone rings the doorbell, and Patty tells him to open the door for a man named Crispin.

Timmy remembers that he was the parking officer who gave Patty a parking ticket a while ago, and as she confirms this, he says he doesn’t understand why his mom wants to be with an underachiever. Patty mentions that Crispin took back the ticket, but as Timmy tries to bring up something else, she tells him to go and bring her guest inside. When Timmy gets to the door, he sees that Crispin is really Patty’s guest.

Instead of inviting him into the house, Timmy goes outside to meet Crispin, who seems to be a really nice guy. Timmy doesn’t seem to like him, but Patty eventually gets him to invite Crispin into the house. Later that night, while they’re having dinner, Crispin and Patty talk about the food, but Timmy doesn’t seem to like the fact that his mom is talking to someone he doesn’t know much about.

As he mentions that Crispin doesn’t have proper clearance, Patty tells him to stop speaking rudely about their guest. Crispin doesn’t understand what he meant by clearance, and he asks if it’s a joke about parking officers. Patty says it’s not, but Crispin says he’s already used to it, and that he knows many people don’t like parking officers.

He adds that it’s why he took the job because he wants to change people’s wrong opinions about parking officers. Patty admires this, and Crispin offers to show Timmy around his precinct one day, but he says he’s not interested because he doesn’t collaborate with law enforcement agencies. The next day, Timmy is told to meet the school counselor, Mr. Jenkins, regarding the difficult time he has been having in class.

During their meeting, Timmy keeps complaining about the valuable time he’s spending in the office, and Jenkins tells him to talk about anything he’s interested in. Timmy then asks how much he got the office space, but Jenkins says it came with the job. He then asks if Timmy needs a place, and he says he’s looking for options downtown.

Jenkins looks confused and asks what he needs an office for, but Timmy says he can’t talk about it because the room might be bugged. Jenkins says it’s not, but Timmy doesn’t believe him. He then mentions that his job is really important, and there are a lot of people who rely on him.

After he leaves Jenkins’ office, Timmy heads to Corrina’s house with Rollo to watch her and see if he can spot any suspicious activity that might have something to do with the missing segway. Rollo doesn’t get this because Corrina is a nice girl, but Timmy believes she’s evil. As they get to her house, they see Corrina playing around with her nanny.

Corrina eventually sees them and greets them quite well before she asks what they’re doing. Rollo says they’re just standing, but Timmy ignores her. As her dad arrives, Corrina says she’s going to meet him, and she tells her classmates goodbye.

Rollo admires Corrina’s dad’s car, but Timmy believes it was likely stolen. Rollo says it’s impossible because the man is rich, and he owns a bank. Timmy can’t believe this, but Rollo says that Corrina’s dad came to their last career day to talk about his job.

Timmy says he purposely didn’t listen, but Rollo doesn’t understand this. As he leaves the house angrily, Timmy starts wondering if Molly lied to him, but Rollo says that there’s no way Corrina has the segway. Suddenly, Timmy gets an idea and mentions that Corrina likely hid the segway at the bank.

Rollo says he won’t be breaking into a bank, but Timmy complains about how he’s always nervous over little things. That day, when Timmy gets home, Patty notices that her segway is missing, and she asks him about it. He says that mistakes were made, but Patty seems really pissed that he took her segway and probably misplaced it.

Timmy says it’s not missing, and that the segway is with Molly, who wants to use it for the Animal Awareness Month rally. Patty looks disappointed by this, but she tells Timmy to ensure that the segway is returned after the rally. She adds that she’ll call Molly’s mom to confirm if the segway is truly with Molly.

Following this, Timmy heads to Molly’s house to beg her to lie to her mom that the segway is with her. Molly agrees to do this only if Timmy agrees to volunteer for the rally and also paint her nails. Even though he doesn’t like the terms of the deal, Timmy is left with no choice but to agree to do what she wants.

The next day, Timmy convinces Rollo to follow him to the bank to check the vault and find the segway. Rollo thinks it’s a bad idea, but he still follows his friend. As they get there, they put on fencing masks and ask a security man if they can check the vault. He says it won’t be possible, and Rollo suggests going home. However, Timmy says he’s not going anywhere until he gets the segway.

As the security man tells them to take off their masks because the cameras have to see their faces, Timmy makes up a theory that they’re being watched by the Russians, who are linked to Corrina and her dad. He then tries to create a distraction to make his way past the guard, but his attempt fails. As the two friends run away, Rollo starts suffocating with the mask, and he eventually crashes against the door before falling to the ground.

The next day, Timmy goes to see Jenkins again for another compulsory session. As Jenkins tells him to freely talk about himself, Timmy says he’s a detective. He adds that someone is currently trying to sabotage his agency, but he can’t tell Jenkins anything else.

Jenkins asks if he has told Patty, but he says he hasn’t because she’s now going out with a law enforcement officer. Jenkins then asks if he can hire Timmy for a case. Timmy asks what it is, and Jenkins tells him that he wants to know what’s happening with Crocus’ assignments.

As Jenkins mentions that he wants Timmy to do the assignments and give him feedback on them, he says it will cost him more money, but the counselor says he doesn’t mind. Shortly after, Timmy joins the animal awareness month volunteering group, but he refuses to join any team. Flo doesn’t seem to get this, but Molly defends Timmy and says he’s protesting against the school’s anti-bear policy.

Flo says she doesn’t know about the policy, but as she calls Timmy to come out and talk about it, he just stays back in his seat. After a while, Timmy leaves the school and sees Crispin waiting for him outside. As he wonders what he’s there for, Crispin says he just came to pick up Timmy to take him home.

Timmy doesn’t look interested, but he eventually enters Crispin’s small truck. On the way, Crispin acts nice toward Timmy and talks about how he likes Patty. As Crispin says he’s a normal guy, Timmy mentions that his mom doesn’t like normal people.

Crispin then tries to explain what he meant while adding that he doesn’t get why Timmy is being mean to him. Timmy then accuses Crispin of kidnapping him, and he eventually runs out of the truck. When he gets home, Patty talks to him about what happened.

She also tells him that she really likes Crispin, and she has been having fun with him. Timmy says he hopes she hasn’t been doing anything irresponsible with him, and she says she hasn’t. She adds that she also wants to let him know that they’ll be moving out of their current apartment because she can no longer afford the rent.

Timmy sounds pissed by this, and he says he can’t believe his mom is making a decision that will affect his business. He walks out of the room angrily, but Patty doesn’t know what to say. The next day, Timmy looks worried about moving his office to the new apartment, but he still follows his classmates on a class trip to a hydropower plant.

On the way, Crocus warns Timmy not to give him any trouble, or he’ll be suspended. As they get there, one of the plant’s staff tells the students about the place. After he’s done, Corrina asks about the plant’s security, and Timmy finds this weird.

He then assumes that Corrina is working with the Russians to turn off Portland’s power supply and leave everyone in darkness. Suddenly, he notices that Corrina is no longer in the room, and he looks scared. He then begs Rollo to help him distract Crocus so he can look around for Corrina. Even though Rollo initially hesitates, he agrees to help him. Just as Timmy runs away to look for Corrina, Crocus and one of the officials at the plant see him and run after him.

Interestingly, it turns out that Corrina is actually in a different room with her other classmates, and that’s why Timmy didn’t see her. After a while, Timmy walks through a restricted door and sees the dam outside the plant. As he looks around, his scarf gets stuck, and Crocus sees him.

He then tells Timmy to come with him, but he complains that he can’t leave his scarf. Crocus looks pissed, but he leaves the door and heads out to help him remove the scarf. Unfortunately, the plant’s employees start the process of releasing water into the dam, and Crocus hears the pressure of the water increasing behind a gate.

He eventually tears Timmy’s scarf, but it turns out that the door is now locked, and they can’t go out. Crocus then tells Timmy to lie down, but he ends up positioning himself on his teacher while saying he’s saving him. Luckily, the water doesn’t get released through their side, but Crocus passes out and is unable to leave the scene.

After the students return to the school, Patty is summoned by the principal. Patty looks pissed about the outcome of their meeting, but she doesn’t say anything to Timmy until they get home. There, she shouts at Timmy and complains about how he keeps getting in trouble. She adds that even though the principal wanted to expel him, he was only suspended for three days. She also sounds angry that she lost her job because of her frequent visits to his school.

Just then, she packs up everything in his office and says she’ll no longer tolerate his imaginary career as a detective. She adds that she has accepted it for too long, and it’s why Timmy keeps acting up. Timmy is not happy about this, but his mom seems serious about ending his career, so he doesn’t say anything.

Following this, Timmy starts going to school like a regular kid, and he also does his classwork and assignments on time. Unfortunately, Crocus is unable to return to his role as a teacher, and the class gets a substitute. Timmy is unhappy about this, and he regrets what happened. After a while, he and Patty move to their new house, and she also gets a new job. Even though he should be happy about this, Timmy feels sad and eventually sends Total back to the zoo.

Days later, Corrina offers Timmy a piece of cookie as part of the animal awareness month celebration. After he accepts it, he takes it to the playground and keeps staring at it until Jenkins comes over to meet him. Jenkins asks why he’s just staring at the cookie, and he says he’s not hungry.

Jenkins then mentions that he liked the intel Timmy submitted on Crocus’ assignments. He also asks why he missed their meetings, and Timmy says he has closed down his agency. Jenkins asks if it had something to do with what happened at the dam, and he confirms this.

He adds that mistakes were made, but Jenkins says he needs to take responsibility for what happened. He also mentions that Timmy needs to learn from his mistakes and adapt. Timmy seems confused by this, but Jenkins says that if he loves his agency, then he needs to fight for it.

He adds that if Timmy learns to adapt and improve his behavior, no one will have to take his agency away from him. As Jenkins leaves, Timmy looks at the cookie closely and sees a bug inside. He believes it was planted there by Corrina, and as he looks pissed, he decides to get back his agency by retrieving his partner first.

Shortly after, Timmy goes to meet Crispin to help him. Crispin looks really happy that Timmy is asking for his help, and he offers to take him to the zoo. When they get there, Crispin asks for the polar bear enclosure, but the zoo staff tells him that it’s closed for renovations.

He adds that all the bears have been transferred to another facility. Timmy doesn’t believe this, and he runs away and sneaks into the bear enclosure. When he gets there, he calls Total to come out, but he doesn’t get a response. As he looks disappointed and is about to leave, Total shows up, and Timmy looks happy to see him. After they place their hands on opposite sides of a glass barrier, Total swims out of the pool he’s currently in.

Timmy then goes outside to meet Crispin who is already worried that he just ran off. Crispin then asks if he found his bear, and Timmy says he did, and that he has been liberated. On their way home, Crispin thanks Timmy for trusting him and telling him about his partner.

Timmy also thanks him for helping, and Crispin looks happy. Almost immediately, a woman’s purse gets stolen by a thief, and as she calls for help, Timmy tells Crispin to go after the bad guy. He then tells Timmy to stay inside the car, after which he heads out to confront the thief.

Crispin gets punched in the process, and Timmy thinks about helping him by driving the truck to separate the fight. As he imagines the situation, which ends up with him crashing into Crocus’ apartment, Timmy decides to stay back and wait for the cops to arrive at the scene to help Crispin and catch the thief. However, Crispin’s car appears to be parked on the walkway, and as someone tells Timmy to get it out of the way, he reverses and ends up hitting a pole.

Shortly after, he’s taken to the hospital, and Patty comes in to see if he’s okay. The doctor tells her he’s fine, and as she looks worried and says she was scared, Timmy says he’s sorry. Patty looks shocked because he has never said that before, and Timmy mentions that he was only trying to get back the agency because he’ll need it if he’s to go to middle school.

Patty looks happy to see that her son has changed, and she tells him that he can have his agency back. She adds that she made a mistake by telling him to close it down. Timmy looks happy about this, and he hugs his mom. The next day, Timmy goes to meet Crispin to invite him to the animal awareness month rally. Crispin thanks him for the invitation, and he also mentions that there’s something he wants to show Timmy.

Just then, he takes Timmy to the garage at his office and shows him the segway. He adds that it was found illegally parked on the road, and that’s why it was towed away. Despite this, Timmy believes the Russians worked with the cops to seize the segway.

The next day, at the animal awareness month program, Molly introduces Timmy to give a speech. As he arrives with the segway, Patty and Rollo look shocked to see him with it. He then starts his speech by talking about the school’s anti-bear policy. Flo doesn’t like this, but Molly defends Timmy and says he’s just fighting for what he believes in. Timmy continues his speech by talking about how all the animals represented at the rally are capable of greatness.

He adds that even though he and his classmates may be headed to middle school, they just have to adapt without having to change who they are. Jenkins looks proud of this, and as Timmy completes his speech, Flo, Patty, Crispin, and everyone applaud him. Timmy also looks proud of his speech, but as he wonders why Crocus didn’t come to the rally, he sees Corrina waving at him. Just then, he makes up a theory that Crocus has been kidnapped and locked away in Corrina and her family’s evil prison. After the rally, Timmy walks on the road with Total and talks about how they’ll always be there to ruin any evil thing Corrina is planning in the town.

Even though Timmy initially appeared to be a weird kid who seemed to be more concerned about his agency than anything else, he later realized that he didn’t have to just focus on one thing.

With Jenkins’ help, he also learned to take responsibility for his actions, accept that he made a mistake, and work on adapting and improving himself to be better. It is important to always think of mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow into a better version of oneself.
