A Working Man (2025) Full Recap
Levon Cade wakes up in the front seat of his pickup truck parked at a construction site in Chicago. He doesn't have an apartment, so this truck is his home. Leavonne spent 22 years in Britain's Royal Marines, and now he's a foreman who pours concrete for a living. Every morning, he's the first one on site, standing in the fog with a cup of coffee before anyone else shows up.
He gathers his crew and tells them it's going to be a hard day with inspections and deliveries all getting in their way. If they work hard, there's a bonus. And he wants everyone to go home with the same number of fingers they came with. One of the guys hands him a plate of food his wife made just for him.
The whole crew looks out for Leavonne, the same way he looks out for them. The company belongs to the Garcia family. Joe runs the business with his wife, Carla, and their 19-year-old daughter, Jenny, does the accounting between college classes. Jenny just finished her semester, and she's planning a big night out with her friends with a party bus, and a private room for dinner.
Joe jokes about paying for 19 years of rent, groceries, and karate classes. Then he hands over his card anyway. Out on the site, a tough guy in a leather jacket shows up and starts shoving one of Leavonne's workers around. Leavonne walks over and politely asks him to let the man get back to work.
The guy tells him to mind his own business. In a couple of seconds, he's flat on the ground, and Leavonne tells him not to come back. Jenny saw the whole thing. She asks if that was some military move, and Leavonne tells her she didn't see anything. She gives him homemade food from her grandma because everyone knows he'd live on canned tuna and peanut butter otherwise.
Before she leaves, Jenny says she's got his back. He says he's got hers. That afternoon, Leavonne drives to a mansion to pick up his daughter, Mary. It's his visitation day, but her grandfather, Dr. Jordan Roth, is throwing a party. Jordan has never forgiven Leavonne for his daughter's death.
In front of the guests, he calls Leavonne an unsafe parent and a killer, hoping he'll lose his temper. Leavonne doesn't take the bait. Mary runs out and climbs into his truck. At a diner, Mary shows him a photo of her mom that she took with an old film camera. Grandpa took all of Mama's pictures down, and sometimes Mary forgets what she looked like.
Leavonne tells her she looks just like her. Then Mary admits that she's mad at Mama for leaving them. Leavonne tells her that's okay because he's mad, too. The next day, Leavonne meets his lawyer. Jordan's attorneys are claiming that Leavonne has PTSD from his years in combat, and they want his visits cut down to one supervised hour every 2 weeks.
Leavonne has $10,000 saved from sleeping in his truck, and he wants to fight, but his lawyer explains that Jordan's team will drain him slowly until he has nothing left. Leavonne's wife passed away while he was deployed overseas, and her father has blamed him ever since. That night, Jenny and her friends ride the party bus across the city, laughing and taking pictures. One of them hands out little matching gifts, and the girls scream when they open them.
They end up at a crowded bar where the bartender Johnny hands them the best table in the place. Across the room, a man with a tattooed hand named Viper and a woman named Artemis are watching the girls closely. Enjoy. Viper says their client wants one girl in particular. He'll know her when he sees her.
Later, Jenny steps away from her friends and heads to the back of the bar. She's alone in the hallway when someone grabs her from behind. She kicks and screams, but they drag her out a back door into a van. Her friends don't even notice she's gone. On Monday, Joe and Carla sit Leavonne down in the office.
Jenny never came home. The police took a report, but Carla's cousin is a police captain, and she says they barely work cases like this. Joe begs Leavonne for help because he knows what Leavonne used to do. He even offers him $50,000. Leavonne pushes the money back. He tells them he's a different person now.
Instead, Leavonne drives for hours to a cabin deep in the woods. Waiting for him on the porch is Gunny Leferty, his old friend from the military who lost his eyesight in combat. Leavonne saved Gunny's life back then. Gunny already knows why Leavonne came. He tells him that if he does this, he has to go allin.
No half measures. And God help whoever took that girl. That evening, Leavonne goes to the Garcia house where family and neighbors have gathered with food and candles. Carla sends him upstairs where Joe is sitting alone next to Jenny's piano. Jenny turned down a music scholarship to study business because she wanted to be just like her dad.
Leavonne reminds Joe that when he lost his wife and left the Marines, the Garcas never gave up on him. I'm going to bring her home. He says, "I promise." Leavonne starts at the bar where Jenny was last seen. He sits at the counter nursing a drink and watches Johnny, the bartender who gave the girls that table.
Johnny is jumpy and he keeps checking his phone. Leavonne slips a tracker onto his car and after closing, he follows the signal on a map all the way to Johnny's place. Johnny opens his door to find Leavonne waiting inside. Leavonne asks where the girl is and Johnny swears she just ran off drunk.
So Leavonne puts his head under the bathwater again and again until Johnny starts talking. The people Johnny works for are Russian mobsters and they wipe out whole families. Then two of Johnny's friends show up at the door with guns. Leavonne takes them all out in seconds. On their bodies, he finds the proof he needs.
They're Russians. The next morning, a mob captain named Wolo arrives at the apartment in a black Mercedes. His men have no idea what happened, and $90,000 of the boss's money is missing. Wo yells at his men for being idiots, then calls in a cleaning crew to make the bodies disappear.
He has no idea someone is watching him from across the street. In his truck, Leavonne gets a call from Mary. She's sneaking a call from school, which she knows she isn't supposed to do, and she just wanted to say hi. Leavonne smiles for the first time in days. He tells her he loves her, hangs up, and goes back to work.
Leavonne follows Wolo to a huge glass house in the woods. Through the windows, he watches Wolo slap his own wife across the face. That night, while Wo eats in the kitchen, Leavonne slips in through the trees. When Wo wakes up, he's tied to a chair next to his own pool, and Leavonne is eating his food.
Wo threatens him. He says Leavonne and everyone connected to him will be hunted for three generations. Leavonne gives him a slap for his wife. He even returns the stolen money because he's not a thief. All he wants is the girl. Wo laughs that nobody kills three men over a girl. So Leavonne tips him into the pool.
Not a thief. Wo's death reaches the top of the family. The head enforcer, Simon Kchenko, can't figure out this stranger who takes money, leaves money, and kills without fear. Simon suspects Wolo's son, Dei, a spoiled party boy who runs his own dirty side business. He sends his two sons, Da and Vanco, to find the man.
Meanwhile, Jenny is locked in a filthy room with a mattress on the floor. To keep herself strong, she repeats her name and her parents' names out loud and tells her captors they have the wrong girl. Artemis throws clothes at her and screams at her to eat. Viper leans in close and tells her she's so pretty.
Leavonne calls an old friend who works for the DEA. He asks about a man named Dei. His friend warns him that Demiy's family is high up in the Russian mob and might be involved in human trafficking. He gives Leavonne one lead, a biker bar called Hatties that sells drugs for the Russians.
Getting rich contracting. At Hattis, Leavonne orders a beer and pretends to be a drug dealer. A few bikers are watching him from the corner. One of them spots the gun in his pocket and decides Leavonne is a cop. Oh, hey, stranger. They lead him into a back room to meet their boss.
The boss is Dutch, a former army paratrooper who now runs the biker gang. His men tell Leavonne to empty his pockets so they can look for a badge. Leavonne refuses. The whole room jumps him and he puts them down one after another until Dutch yells for everyone to stop. Dutch is impressed.
He points out that his grandpa taught him never to shake hands sitting down and he stands up to shake Leavons. Then he looks at Leavonne's rough hands and says, "He's no cop. He's a working man." Leavonne says he's looking to buy 4 lb of meth a month. Dutch tells him to meet at a pancake house at 7 in the morning and bring $5,000.
The next morning, Leavonne sits in a booth at the pancake house and hands the cash to two of Dutch's people. They take the money and walk out without giving him anything. Later, a call tells him where to find his package. It's been under the seat of his own truck the whole time. That night, the traffickers dress Jenny up and bring her to a wealthy client in a fancy room.
He calls her a princess and touches her face. Jenny bites him so hard that he screams. Dutch calls Leavonne back. His bosses liked the deal, but if they're going to keep working together, Leavonne has to meet the man in charge. He tells him to wear a suit. Leavonne puts on a suit and meets Dutch at a fancy lounge.
Sitting at the table is Deimmy, the long-haired son of the man Leavonne drowned. Demiy's men check his phone and his rental car. Deimmy asks if Leavonne is going to be a problem. Leavonne asks if this is how they treat their partners. Demi relaxes, apologizes, and tells him how to order more with a silly code of emojis.
But Simon's sons have already tracked Levon's rental car. Da and Vano are two flashy brothers in matching designer jackets and they're desperate to prove themselves to their father. As soon as Leven leaves, they start closing in. Leavonne spots their trucks in the trees and takes off on a motorcycle.
They chase him through the woods with their headlights right on his back wheel. He cuts between the trees, kills his own light, and loses them in the dark. Then a police car pulls him over on a dark country road. The cops are on the mob's payroll and they hand him straight to DA and Vanco.
The brothers tie him up in the back of their van and start bragging about how they'll make him suffer. Leavonne doesn't stay tied up for long. He fights his way out in the back of the speeding van, and neither brother survives. The van crashes off the road and into the river, and Leavonne climbs out of the wreck.
Simon has to identify his sons at a private morg. He stands over them in silence and calls them his house and his lineage. This is no longer business for him. It's personal. At his club, Deimmy is furious with Viper. The rich client needed 36 stitches to fix his cheek, and Demi lost $200,000.
He tells Viper the client wants Jenny dead. Viper says he'll take care of it. Simon meets with Yuri, a representative of the bosses in Moscow. He calls the stranger a devil who has killed his soldiers, drowned Wolo, and murdered his sons. Won't he know who this devil is? Yuri wants to know where Deimmy is.
Dimmy is hiding. Simon finds Deimmy at his club and tells him his father is dead. Dimmy had no idea because nobody in the family tells him anything. Simon shows him a photo of the stranger and Deimmy recognizes the man from the meeting. He is hunting you, Simon says. Then Levonne gets a call from Mary's school.
Nobody came to pick her up and her grandfather isn't answering his phone. Leavonne tells Mary that some very bad people are after him. She checks her grandfather's location on her phone. He's at home. When they get there, Jordan's house is on fire, set by Simon's men. Leavonne runs inside and carries Jordan out of the smoke.
Mary, stay here. Jordan blames him for bringing this violence to their door, and he says it's time to let the police handle it. Leavonne tells him the police can't stop these people, but Mary reminds her grandfather that Leavonne could have left him inside. Jordan swallows his pride and thanks him.
Leavonne takes Mary to Gunny's cabin to keep her safe. Gunny's wife, Joyce, welcomes them inside and asks if they're hungry. Always, Mary says. Gunny says that since Leavonne killed his way into this, he'll have to fight his way out. Then he opens a secret room with a whole wall of weapons and calls himself Leavonne's weapons sumelier for the evening.
He saves the best for last, an old rifle from their days in combat. Leavonne says he doesn't want to remember it, but he does. Your blind friend who doesn't know he's blind. Before Leavonne leaves, Mary asks to come with him, and he tells her no. He splits a little keepsake in two, gives Mary one half, and keeps the other.
He promises to come back for it. Mary tells him she doesn't want him to get hurt, and Joyce puts an arm around her as he drives away. Meanwhile, Viper and Artemis drive Jenny out into the countryside to get rid of her. In the back seat, Jenny suddenly fights back. The car swerves off the road and crashes in the woods.
Jenny climbs out and runs. She reaches a road where a stranger stops to help her. But Viper catches up and grabs her again. Then the client calls on video. He's changed his mind and wants to see Jenny one more time alive. That night, Leavonne finds Demi hiding at a fancy hideout. Deimmy offers him money to disappear, but Leavonne isn't interested.
He wants the girl. Demi asks why he'd risk everything for her. Because I told her I had her back, Leavonne says. Dei leads Leavonne toward the place where Jenny is being held. Along the way, he explains how his business works. Viper takes pictures of girls at clubs and Deie sends them to his clients like a catalog.
Leavonne reminds him that these are human beings. When Dei asks why Leavonne is hunting them, Leavonne asks if he has a daughter. Deie says, "No, then you won't understand." At a remote mansion, Dutch hears that Leavonne has taken out half a dozen Russians and is on his way. He orders his bikers to grab their guns and get ready.
They load rifles, block the doors, and spread out across the property. Inside, Jenny is waiting for the client, and Viper is ready to finish the job afterward. He tells her it's nothing personal. They're all just numbers. Jenny tells him it feels pretty personal to her. Outside in the dark, Leavonne is already in position.
