Airplane Mode (2020) Full Recap

No, it isn't. People, stop booing. Look at it. A digital influencer named Anna wakes up and checks her phone to see all the comments and messages she got on her last post. She then freshens up and goes live on social media to talk to her followers. She says she'll soon post an amazing throwback picture, which reminds her of when she didn't have a boyfriend.

She adds that things have changed so much since then because she was signed by a famous brand called True Fashion. Anna says that even though it has only been 3 months since True Fashion signed her, she has enjoyed every day. She also talks about when True Fashion signed another influencer named Gil, who she has been dating for a month. As she continues talking to her followers, her mom Laura barges into her room to say something.

Anna looks shocked. And as Laura realizes that her daughter is live, she apologizes and heads back out. After a while, Anna changes her clothes and heads downstairs for breakfast. Look, Laura, it's getting delivered today. She remains glued to her phone as she sits down. And even when her dad, Inazio, tries to get her attention, she ignores him.

Laura then asks if Anna and Gil are really celebrating their 1-month anniversary. Anna says they are, and Laura jokingly asks if there will be a PowerPoint presentation of their relationship. Anna seems offended because her mom doesn't think she likes Gil. Anna says she does, and Laura asks what Gil's favorite movie is.

Anna doesn't know what it is, and Laura asks if she knows Gil's sign. Anna says it doesn't matter because she and Gil share a deep connection. Like a super deep connection, and it's awesome. Yes, Laura still doesn't seem convinced and she sarcastically mentions that she's sure Anna and Gil will change the world by making everyone dress like them.

Anna says it's their job as influencers, but Inazio laments that Anna's dreams were more interesting and original when she wanted to become a fashion designer. Anna says it's not that easy. And Laura mentions that it's probably impossible because Anna didn't even try. Anna seems frustrated and says that her parents don't understand her.

Almost immediately, she gets a text from Gil, who says he's almost at true fashion. Anna then says she has to leave, but her parents remind her that she hasn't even touched her food. Anna thanks them for the reminder and takes a photo of the meal so she can post it online. Her parents look confused, but they don't know what else to say.

After Anna enters her car, Inatio heads out to tell her to drive carefully. Anna seems busy on her phone and she tells her dad not to worry. He also tells her not to use her phone while driving, but she just ignores him as she then drives away. Inatoio looks at the dents on her car and seems disappointed.

Shortly after, Anna gets a call from her boss at True Fashion Corolla. After Anna answers it, Corolla complains about her lateness. As Anna says she'll be at the company really soon, she gets distracted and hits another car on the road. Oh, that's awful. She then ends the call and heads out to inspect the damage to the other car.

Interestingly, Anna doesn't seem remorseful and she just takes a photo of herself at the scene and posts it online. Elsewhere, Corolla arrives at work and meets with Gil and her assistant Fausto as they talk about Anna being late. Fausto asks if Corolla saw Anna's recent post about an accident, which already has many likes. Corolla then talks about how much she likes Anna and her ability to make posts go viral without doing too much.

After they enter her office, she talks about how Anna was able to start a fashion trend with just one post. She then mentions that true fashion night is coming and she needs a fierce couple to promote her collection. She also tells Gil that he'll have to do everything she says. Almost immediately, Anna arrives and heads to Corolla's office.

Fausto admires Anna's outfit and Anna asks Gil if he's mad that she's late. Gil seems pissed and nearly shouts at her, but Fausto and Corolla signal him to calm down. Gil does just this and Anna looks relieved. Corolla then shows them the new collection, but Anna says they look like the previous ones.

Corolla and Fausto don't think it's a bad thing, but Anna tries to give them some advice about finding inspiration and doing something original. Fausto asks if she's a fashion designer and she says she studied fashion. Corolla then mentions that originality is a myth and it doesn't exist. She adds that Anna and Gil's love will make her new collection the most stylish and original designs in the world.

Anna looks happy and Corolla says they'll achieve this by making Gil and Anna move in together. Anna looks shocked and says they're a bit too young to get married, but Fausto clarifies that they won't be doing that. He says they'll just live together. Don't worry. And Corolla says it will make True Fashion Night seem like a spectacular wedding celebration.

Anna still looks confused, but Corolla says they'll announce it tonight during their 1-month anniversary dinner. Anna says she'll have to think about it and meet up later, and Corola agrees. After Anna leaves the office, Gil says he'll also think about it, but Corolla tells him to stay back because he doesn't really have a say in the matter since he's working for her and following her script. Meanwhile, Anna gets a call from her friend Mara, who is expecting her at the gym.

Anna says she'll soon be there and that there's something they have to talk about. Almost immediately, Anna hits another car and ends the call before going out to take a picture. Shortly after, Anna arrives at the gym and tells Mara that Corolla wants her to move in with Gil. Mara thinks it's a good idea, but Anna says she's worried that things might not work out.

Mara says she can just walk away when that happens, but Anna doesn't seem sure about this. Mara then talks about how Corolla's plan to matchmake them has worked well for the company, but Anna says she really likes Gil. Mara says she believes her friend, but that she doesn't understand why Anna is scared of moving in with Gil. Even though she has always wanted to move out of her parents' house, Anna realizes that it's true, and she makes up her mind on what to do.

Elsewhere, Laura gets a call from Inatoio's dad, Germano, while she's at work. Whole time. When she gets home, she sees Inatio and asks if he has seen Anna's posts. Inatoio says he has and that they also got a letter from the DMV regarding Anna's reckless driving. Laura asks what he'll do and he says he'll talk to her when she returns.

Laura then tells Inatio that Gerano called her at work. Inio doesn't seem to care because he hasn't spoken to his dad in a long time. Laura then mentions that Germano wants Inasio to visit him and attend a classic car festival. Inazio says he remembers those festivals, but he asks why his dad didn't just call him.

Laura says it's because they're both stubborn, and almost immediately, Anna returns home. Her parents try to talk to her about her driving, but she just heads to her room to prepare for her dinner with Gil. Her parents then interrupt her to talk about how she has crashed her car eight times already this month. Anna says she only cares about the likes on her post, but Laura says there's more to life than that.

Anna then says she's an independent woman who doesn't have to answer to anyone. Inio tries to talk to her calmly, and she says she'll stop using her phone while driving. Laura says she cannot drive anymore, and Anna looks pissed. She says that her mom cannot control her. But Inazio supports Laura and tells Anna not to disrespect her.

Anna looks pissed and after a while she heads out and drives to the restaurant where she'll meet Gil. Interestingly, Fausto is also at the restaurant, but he hides in a corner so that Anna won't see him. Anna and Gil then sit together and before they talk much, Gil suggests going live to make the announcement. Anna thinks it's a bit too early, but Gil insists.

Following this, they both go live on their respective phones, and Anna quickly gets a lot of viewers. Unlike Gil, who isn't as popular as she is. Fausto continues hiding in the corner and eventually starts recording them. Almost immediately, Anna announces that she and Gil are moving in together, but Gil says he wants them to break up.

Anna looks shocked because she thought they were supposed to make the same announcement, but Gil says he doesn't think she loves him. Anna cannot believe this and she turns off her live video while Gil continues recording and getting more viewers. Gil then talks about how Anna probably sees him as a contract and that even though he loves her, Destiny's they will they'll He thinks it will be best for them to go their separate ways. Anna seems pissed and notices that Gil wrote a part of his statement on his palm.

She realizes that he's doing what Corolla wants, but Gil just walks away and leaves the restaurant. Anna seems really pissed and on her way home she calls Corolla to complain about what Gil did. She says Gil had no right to humiliate her like that. But Corolla implies that he didn't do anything wrong because he's now getting more followers.

Anna still looks pissed. And as she shouts at Corolla, she gets hit by a truck which causes an accident. The next day, Anna wakes up at the hospital and sees a lawyer with her parents. The lawyer tells her to sign a document. And as she does this, he takes her phone and says she won't get it back until after her sentence.

Anna looks shocked, but the lawyer says that her addiction is a danger to herself and others. Anna says she's not addicted, but the lawyer doesn't seem to care. Laura then asks if she can speak to him outside, and he agrees. While they're outside the room, Corola and Fausto arrive at the hospital to see Anna.

When Laura sees them, she angrily sends them away because she believes they're partly at fault for what happened to her daughter. Laura then returns to the room and tells Anna that she has struck a deal with the lawyer. Anna asks if she'll get her phone back, but Laura says she has to go to a place with no cell phone coverage. Anna looks annoyed, but Laura says she'll be staying with her grandfather until her sentence is completed.

Inatoio looks surprised but supports Laura saying that going to Gerano's place is better than going to jail. Anna doesn't like this but she agrees to go there. Elsewhere, Gil asks Corolla if they'll wait for Anna to return to work, but she says they'll have to move on. She adds that people love drama and that's why Mara will replace Anna.

Appeared. Gil looks shocked, but Mara arrives at the office to talk about the job. The next day, Anna begins her journey to the small town where her grandfather lives. On the bus, she tries to take someone's phone to check what's happening online, but she nearly gets caught. When she reaches the town, she sees a girl named Julia playing a game on her phone.

Anna asks if she can borrow Julia's phone, but Julia refuses. Anna seems pissed and tries to snatch the phone from Julia. As this nearly causes a fight, Julia's brother, Jaho, quickly shows up to separate them. Anna then says she only wanted to borrow Julia's phone to find an address.

As Jo then sees the address, he says he knows the place and Anna says it's her grandfather's house. Jo realizes that she's German's granddaughter and he tells her to wait. He then goes to meet his other sister, Rebecca, to ask if they can give Anna a lift in their truck. Interestingly, Rebecca already knows Anna to be a crazy city girl, but she agrees to help when they drop Anna off at the house.

Julia still seems pissed and warns Anna to stay away from her phone. Anna doesn't say anything and after they leave, she looks around the house, but doesn't see anyone. As she heads to the nearby mechanic shop, she sees Germano and introduces herself as his granddaughter. Germano says he thought she'd be a child, but Anna asks if it's because he hasn't seen her in a long time.

Germano then says that crashing a car because of a cell phone sounds childish and Anna looks disappointed. As he shows her around, she asks if she can use his phone, but he says he doesn't have one. He then takes her to her room and tells her not to go into the next one. After looking around, Anna realizes that he doesn't have toilet paper and he says he has never needed it before.

Anna seems disgusted and Germano says there's a store in town where she can get it. Anna asks if she can take his truck, but he refuses. She then walks to the store and sees that it's closed. Surprisingly, she notices that the door is open and she walks right in to take the toilet paper.

Almost immediately, she remembers she didn't bring any money. Great. So, she writes a note to the store owner saying she'll bring it tomorrow. While she's at it, she sees a phone on top of a shelf and tries to grab it. She eventually falls and makes a loud noise which wakes the store owners who happen to be Jo and his family.

They look shocked to see her, but she explains how she got in and says she didn't mean to disturb them. Jah's mom then tells Jao to take Anna back home, and this makes him happy because he likes her. The next morning, an old alarm clock wakes Anna in her room, and as she struggles to turn it off, she takes it to Germano. After he turns it off, Anna decides to head back to her room, but he stops her.

Anna doesn't understand this because she thinks she's on vacation, but Gerano says she's wrong. He adds that she'll help him at the shop today. Anna asks what he would do if she doesn't help, and he says he'll send her back to the city to deal with the courts. Anna seems offended and tries to get him pissed by asking why her dad doesn't talk to him again.

Germano just ignores this and tells her not to be late. Shortly after, Anna meets Gmano at the shop while he's working on a car. He looks surprised to see that she's wearing fancy clothes and he tells her to change them. Anna refuses to do this and Germano doesn't complain. She then starts helping him out and doing what he wants.

Her choice of clothes doesn't seem to be a good fit for the job and this leaves her frustrated. The next day, she helps out at the shop again, but she still refuses to stop wearing fancy clothes. Germano then shows her some tools and while she plays with one, it ends up hurting her foot. Germano quickly helps her put some ice on it and Anna appreciates this.

That night, he silently walks into her room and drops a pair of boots for her. He also covers her well with her blanket. And after he leaves the room, Anna looks pleased to be a responsible adult. The next day, she wears the boots to the shop, and after working for a while, she complains that she's tired of carrying things.

Germano says it's good that she's at least learning, but Anna doesn't see it that way. Germano then implies that she's learning to become responsible. Anna doesn't respond to this, but she eventually offers to help him remove a bolt under the car. After she removes it, Jerano says he's going to get something at the store, and she says she'd like to follow him.

When they get there, Jo sees Anna and immediately heads over to meet her. Meanwhile, Gerano goes into the store and speaks to Joah's mom, who asks if Anna is settling in. Well, German says she's still not used to it, but that she's getting there. Elsewhere, Anna asks Julia for her phone again, but Julia refuses to give it up.

As this nearly starts a fight, Rebecca intervenes and says that Anna isn't supposed to use a phone. Anna looks confused and Julia says they know she's staying with Gerano because she's addicted to her phone. Need to concentrate. As Julia calls Anna, a stuckup city girl, she seems pissed and insults the girls.

She adds that they have no idea who she is, but Julia and Rebecca mention that they do. Julia also shows Anna a picture of Mara and Gil while joking that another stuckup city girl has replaced her. Anna looks shocked to see the photo and she tries to snatch Julia's phone again. This almost results in another fight and Germano quickly heads out to stop Anna.

On their way home, Anna says she can't believe that her grandfather really told the entire town to spy on her. Gmano says he wasn't sure she'd play by the rules. And Anna says he could have just trusted her. Germano says trust is earned, but Anna says he didn't even give her a chance to prove herself.

Germano realizes that she's right, and he decides to take her to a place which he calls the most beautiful view in the world. Anna doesn't understand what they're there to do, and German says he's sorry for judging her without listening. Anna says she understands and that he's not the first person to do that. Merida was an intelligent woman.

Germano then tells Anna that her grandmother Merida was actually the one who used to call the spot the most beautiful view in the world. He adds that Merida was intelligent, determined, and sometimes contradictory like Anna. Anna seems impressed and says she wants to know more about her grandmother. Germano then takes her to Merida's old room and Anna looks amazed to see Merida's old clothes and sewing machine.

She also asks if she can use the sewing machine and Germano says she can. Following this, she starts making some designs and Germano seems impressed. Days later, Jao visits them and gives Anna a cake he made. Anna seems impressed and after a while, Jao helps out at the shop. He also gets to spend more time with Anna, who now likes him.

Days later, she visits Jo and gives him and his sisters some designs she made. They thank her for this, and Julia also forgives Anna. When Anna returns home, she asks Germano what really happened between him and her dad. When your grandma got sick, Germano says that when his wife was ill, Inatio thought it was better for her to come to the city to be treated, but she preferred to stay in the town.

Anna asks if it was really Merida's choice and Gerano says he doesn't know if he let her choose or if he made her choose what he wanted. Anna then asks if she can show him something and he says she can. Following this, she shows him one of her designs and Germano looks impressed. She then tells him to pretend to be an Italian fashion expert so she can show him the other designs and hear what he thinks.

Germano agrees to do this and Anna shows him the rest of her designs. She says they are all inspired by Merida and Germano's love story. She adds that the name of the collection is Meridiana and this makes Gerano happy. The next day, Jo visits Gerano and delivers the parts he needs for the car he's working on.

He also stays to help out at the shop and after a while he invites Ana to come with him to a town fair. Germano agrees to let her go and she follows Jaho. When they get to the fair, they spend time together, and Jao talks about his dream of becoming a real chef. Almost. He says he even got a full scholarship, but he can't take it because he doesn't want to leave his mom and sisters alone.

Anna then encourages him to follow his dream because she's sure his family will be happy for him. Shortly after, Julia takes a photo of two of them, and Anna also meets a fan named Claraara, who used to follow her on social media. Claraara then asks if Anna is dating Jaho. Anna and Jo look confused, but Claraara says it's fine because Gil is now with Mara.

Anna looks shocked and cannot believe this. She says she needs to find a phone, but Jo tells her to forget about it. Anna says he doesn't understand her and she walks away. She then steals someone's phone and confirms that Mara is dating Gil. This makes her sad and before she drives away angrily, Jo stops her and takes her home.

When she gets there, she asks if she'll be arrested by the mayor for stealing, but Ju tells her not to worry about it. He also tells her to focus on resting for the night. Meanwhile, Gerano calls Laura to give her an update on the situation. He also mentions that he thinks it's time to tell Anna the truth because they cannot continue lying to her.

Joah hears Gerano saying this and he looks shocked. Germano then ends the call and says he needs to tell Joah something. Later that night, Anna goes to Merida's room and goes through her old stuff. She then finds a letter Merida wrote to Inatio telling him that she prefers to stay in the town to get treated since this might help her dad and granddad get back together.

Anna sends the letter to Inatio in the city. Inio looks emotional as he reads the letter and realizes that Gerano didn't force his mom to stay in the town. Elsewhere, Julia opens a social media page and posts a video of Anna and Jo together. This goes viral and Fausto and Corolla start trying to find Anna.

The next day, Laura and Inacio arrive for the classic car festival and Anna looks pleased to see her parents. Inio also reconciles with Germano. Wow, Dad, it's a beauty. And they agree to attend the festival together. Before they leave, Fausto and Corola arrive at the house. Laura looks shocked to see them, but Anna says she'll handle the situation.

She then goes to meet Corolla and Fausto, who accuse her of dating someone else and representing another brand. Anna finds this funny and decides to show them her designs. Fausto seems impressed, but Corolla says the designs are amateur-ish. Anna then says she no longer wants to work for anyone because she'd like to do her own thing.

Corolla pretends to be happy about this and she tells Anna to show Fausto where the bathroom is. After Anna leaves, Corolla secretly takes pictures of Anna's designs. Later that day, Anna heads to the car festival with Jaho and her family. Surprisingly, Anna sees a life-siz stande who looks just like the lawyer who wanted her to go to jail.

Airplane Mode (2020) Ending Explained

Anna then connects the dots and realizes that her parents sent her to Germano's house to force her into a digital detox an actor. She feels sad and betrayed and her parents don't know what to say. Jo says he knew about it and as Anna gets pissed, she drives away and heads back to the city alone. Jo and her parents send her different messages but she just ignores them.

She eventually gets an offer to become a pet influencer and she reluctantly accepts. Days later, Jouah gets a job in the city and sees a true fashion poster showing Gil and Mara wearing Anna's designs. He looks shocked and immediately takes a picture to send to Anna. They eventually meet up to talk about the poster, and Anna says she cannot believe that Corolla really stole her designs.

She adds that she won't be able to claim the designs anymore after Corolla launches them. Joaho then offers to help along with her parents and German. Anna reluctantly agrees to let them help her and they all look happy. On the night of the launch, Gerano pretends to be an Italian fashion editor while Anna and the others sneak in.

Come on, Mr. German. Anna eventually enters Corolla's office to take the designs back as proof that Corolla stole them from her. However, Corolla comes in and stops her. Anna accuses Corolla of stealing her designs, but Corolla doesn't seem bothered. She also deletes the pictures on her phone and destroys the duplicate of Anna's designs on her table.

Interestingly, Laura happens to be hiding inside the office to record everything that's happening. As Corolla confesses to stealing the designs while saying that no one will believe Anna, Laura secretly records everything. After Corolla leaves the office, Gerano distracts her and Fausto so that Anna and Laura can escape. Laura then gives the recording to Joah who passes it to Inatio.

Shortly after, the show begins and Inatio gives the recording to the guys operating the digital signs and posters. During the show, Anna walks onto the runway to confront Gil and Mara. She accuses them of stabbing her in the back, and as they look embarrassed, they quickly leave the stage. And it's called Mary Giana.

Mary G. Corolla seems pissed and tells Anna to leave, but she refuses. She also calls Corolla a thief, and the recording is then played for everyone to watch. Corolla quickly denies this, but the guests boo her until she leaves the stage. Anna looks happy about this, and as everyone commends her, she celebrates with Dw and her family on stage.

After Anna's phone addiction gets out of control, her parents come up with a plan to send her to her grandfather's house where there is no cell phone coverage. Anna struggles to adapt at first, but her grandfather encourages her and makes her focus on becoming a fashion designer. This works out quite well and she also meets new people in the town. Interestingly, she soon realizes what her parents did.
