Narnia Prince Caspian (2008) Full Recap

A telmarine Prince named Caspian is suddenly woken up by his mentor, Cornelius, who suggests escaping through a secret door. Caspian doesn't understand this, but Cornelius quickly mentions that Caspian's uncle, Miraz, who has always wanted to become king, now has a son. It then turns out that Miraz has informed a general named Glozelle that he wants Caspian killed. As Caspian and Cornelius hide behind the secret door, they see Glozelle and some other soldiers enter the room.

The soldiers immediately shoot arrows at Caspian's bed, believing that he's still there, but they look shocked when they notice that he has escaped. As Caspian realizes that they really want to kill him, he runs out of the castle with Cornelius. Just then, Caspian climbs on his horse, and Cornelius tells him to head into the woods because the soldiers won't follow him there. He also gives Caspian a magical horn and tells him to only blow it when he really needs help.

Caspian asks if he'll see Cornelius again, and Cornelius says he hopes so. He adds that there is so much more that he meant to tell Caspian, and that everything Caspian knows is about to change. Following this, Caspian leaves and heads into the woods. Glozelle leads some soldiers to go after him, but they look scared when they get to the front of the woods because they've heard many scary things about the place.

Glozelle still orders the soldiers to come with him, but Caspian easily loses them. As he goes through the woods, he gets knocked down by a tree branch, and the magical horn also falls next to him. Suddenly, he sees a Narnian dwarf named Trumpkin and looks shocked. Trumpkin also looks surprised when he sees the horn, and as the Telmarine soldiers get closer, he tells another dwarf named Nikabrik to take care of Caspian.

As Trumpkin heads toward the soldiers, Caspian looks confused and sees Nikabrik walking toward him. He assumes that Nikabrik is about to hurt him, and he quickly grabs the horn and blows it. In England, a girl named Lucy quickly calls her sister, Susan, to follow her because their brother, Peter, is fighting some boys at the train station. When Lucy and Susan reach the scene, they look disappointed to see Peter fighting.

Almost immediately, their other brother, Edmund, shows up to help Peter before the cops eventually break up the fight. As the siblings sit together to wait for a train that will take them to boarding school, Edmund and Susan don't seem happy with what Peter did. Peter then explains that the boys attacked him first, and he had to retaliate because he's tired of being treated like a kid. Edmund says they're kids, but Peter mentions that he wasn't always one.

As he complains that it's been a year since they moved to England, Susan says they have to accept that they now live there. Peter still doesn't look happy, but the kids suddenly get a strange feeling that something is about to happen. Just then, the train station gets torn apart, and the kids find themselves in a magical land called Narnia. They look really excited to be back, and it turns out that they're actually the Kings and Queens of Narnia who left for the real world about 1300 years ago.

Shortly after, they notice that Narnia is not the same as when they left it, and as they look around, they see the old Royal Castle of Narnia, which has now been destroyed. Elsewhere, Glozelle returns with Trumpkin as a hostage, and as Miraz sees the dwarf, he looks shocked because everyone always thought Narnians were extinct. At a council of Lords meeting, a Lord named Sopespian complains to the other lords about Caspian's disappearance. Just as he blames Miraz for it, Miraz walks in to join the meeting.

One of the other lords then talks about how Miraz has been acting like the King since his brother, Caspian the Ninth, died. Sopespian also points out that it's weird timing for Caspian to go missing just after Miraz became a father. Miraz doesn't like the accusations, and he mentions that Caspian was abducted by Narnians. The other lords don't believe this, and they tell Miraz to stop talking about fairytales.

Just then, Miraz orders Glozelle to bring in Trumpkin, and as the lords see the dwarf, they look shocked. Miraz then tells the council members not to forget that Narnia was once a savage land where fierce creatures roamed free. He says that their forefathers did everything they could to kill all the Narnians, but that it seems they survived and have been growing in number, waiting for the right time to strike. As he hits Trumpkin's face out of anger, Trumpkin says he doesn't understand how the Telmarines still can't tell why the Narnians don't like them.

Miraz then mentions that he'll get Caspian back and finish what their ancestors began. Elsewhere, Peter and his siblings find a secret basement in the damaged castle, and as they go in, they see some of their old things. Susan notices that her horn is missing, but Peter finds his sword. As they then think about Narnia's creator, Aslan, Lucy looks sad and laments that everyone they knew is gone.

Peter then says it's time to figure out what's going on in Narnia. Much later, as two Telmarine soldiers are about to drown Trumpkin in a river, Susan shoots her arrows at them and tells them to drop the dwarf. The soldiers immediately throw Trumpkin into the river, and Peter saves him. Trumpkin seems pissed about Susan's choice of words when she told the soldiers to drop him, but she says he can still thank them for saving him.

Trumpkin then asks who they are, and they reveal that they're the old Kings and Queens of Narnia. This leaves Trumpkin shocked, and he realizes that the horn worked. Elsewhere, Caspian wakes up with a bandage around his head after being knocked out by Nikabrik. He finds himself inside a strange house and hears Nikabrik arguing with a talking badger named Trufflehunter.

Nikabrik doesn't seem happy about having Caspian around, but Trufflehunter insists that they have to take care of him because Trumpkin knew what he was doing when he sacrificed himself. Almost immediately, Caspian tries to run away, but Nikabrik and Trufflehunter stop him. He then says he thought Narnians were extinct, but Nikabrik says they’re sorry to disappoint him. As Nikabrik calls Caspian a telmarine soldier, Caspian says he's a prince.

Nikabrik looks shocked and asks what he's doing in the woods. Caspian then says he's running away because his uncle is trying to kill him now that he has an heir. As he says he has to leave because he cannot let his uncle find him, Trufflehunter stops him and says he's the one who is supposed to save Narnia. Caspian looks confused, but Trufflehunter simply asks if he doesn't know what the horn is.

Back at the castle, Miraz sees one of Susan's arrows, which was brought back by his soldiers. He then accuses Cornelius of knowing something about Susan's horn and whether Caspian has gotten his hands on it. Cornelius denies this, but Miraz gets him taken to the dungeon. Sopespian looks shocked when he sees this, and he asks Glozelle if anyone is even safe in the Kingdom.

Glozelle tells him to stop asking dangerous questions, but Sopespian insists that these are dangerous times, and people have to choose their friends carefully. Just then, Sopespian heads in to meet Miraz, who asks how soon a bridge can be constructed over a river to make it easier for his troops to attack the Narnians. Sopespian says he could use some extra hands to make the work faster, and Miraz tells Glozelle to send some soldiers to work on the bridge. Meanwhile, Trumpkin tries to lead the old Kings and Queens back to meet the Narnians.

On the way, Lucy complains that the trees are no longer dancing like they used to. Trumpkin then talks about how the telmarines invaded Narnia not long after the old Kings and Queens left. Lucy asks about Aslan, and Trumpkin says he abandoned them just like Lucy and her siblings. Peter says they didn't mean to leave, but Trumpkin says it doesn't make a difference now.

Peter then tells Trumpkin that it will mean something when they meet the Narnians. After they stop on land, Lucy sees a bear and tries to go toward it. However, as the bear nearly attacks her, Trumpkin shoots it down with an arrow. Lucy and her siblings look shocked because animals used to be friendly in Narnia, but Trumpkin says most of the ones left are just like that.

He adds that Narnia is now more of a savage land, and it's not the same as when the Kings and Queens were still around. Elsewhere, Caspian decides to find the other Narnians, but Trufflehunter tries to convince him to wait for the Kings and Queens. Caspian says he can't wait, and Trufflehunter talks about how difficult it will be to convince the Minotaurs to fight for him. Caspian looks shocked and asks if they're real, and Trufflehunter confirms this.

As Caspian asks about Aslan, Trufflehunter looks shocked, and Nikabrik asks how he knows so much about them. Caspian says his mentor told him lots of stories, and Trufflehunter suddenly smells the presence of other humans in the woods. As some soldiers attack them, Caspian quickly runs away with Nikabrik and Trufflehunter. Before they can get too far, they see the soldiers getting killed one by one.

Caspian looks shocked because he cannot see the killer, but a mouse named Reepicheep shows up and knocks him down. Reepicheep assumes that Caspian is a Telmarine soldier, but Trufflehunter mentions that he's the one who blew the horn. Reepicheep looks shocked, and a centaur named Glenstorm shows up with some other Narnians and says that Caspian is the reason they're all gathered. Meanwhile, Peter insists on leading his siblings through the woods even though Trumpkin implies that the way is now different.

Just as they reach the end of a cliff, Peter realizes that Trumpkin was right, and as they consider taking another route, Lucy sees Aslan before he suddenly disappears. As she tells her siblings, they don't believe her because they would've all seen Aslan if he was really there. Lucy looks sad because she believes Aslan was showing them where to go, but Peter insists that she probably saw something else. Shortly after, they see Miraz's men working on the bridge, and they quickly hide behind some logs of wood.

Since they won't be able to get past the river without being seen, they decide to take the route that Lucy said Aslan was trying to show them. This happens to be the right way, and they eventually stop to rest for the night. Elsewhere, Caspian meets the Narnians and tries to convince them to fight with him. The Narnians don't agree at first because they can't forget everything the Telmarines did to them, but as Caspian says he'll fight to get back what belongs to them, Glenstorm supports him and pledges his loyalty to the prince.

All the other Narnians also agree to fight with Caspian, and he says they need to find weapons before Miraz's soldiers attack them. Elsewhere, Lucy has a dream in which she sees Aslan in the woods. She looks happy and asks why he hasn't come to help them, but Aslan says things never happen the same way twice. Almost immediately, Lucy wakes up and hears some footsteps.

As she looks around, she sees a minotaur, and Peter quickly tells her to hide. Before he can kill the Minotaur, Caspian attacks him, and they fight for a while. They soon realize that they're on the same side, and Edmund also looks shocked that the Minotaurs are willing to fight alongside the others, even though they have a history of being cruel. Reepicheep then mentions that the Narnians have already gotten swords and other weapons, which they can use to fight for the Kings and Queens.

Elsewhere, Miraz reaches the bridge construction site and learns that the Narnians came the previous night to steal some weapons. He also sees a message that Caspian left for him, saying that the Telmarines were right to fear the woods. Miraz hits Glozelle out of anger, and says he can't believe that the Narnians stole the weapons easily. He also tells Glozelle to kill three of his men to serve as casualties.

As he prepares to leave, he tells Sopespian that Caspian is clearly working with the Narnians, and that it seems the kingdom is in need of a new king. Meanwhile, Caspian and the others march to an underground hall where they find Aslan's fortress. Shortly after, one of the Narnians spots a soldier spying on the hall. After he informs the old Kings and Queens, Peter suggests leading the Narnians to invade Miraz's castle.

Caspian says the castle has never fallen, but Peter says there's always a first time. Caspian believes they have a better chance of winning the battle if they remain in the hall, and Susan supports him. Peter and Edmund don't think it's a wise idea, and Lucy asks why they can't just wait for Aslan. Peter says they've waited long enough, and he leaves with the Narnians.

That night, a few of them sneak into the castle, and Peter, Susan, and Caspian head into Cornelius’ office, which happens to be scattered. As Caspian realizes that Cornelius is probably in the dungeon, he says he has to help his mentor. Peter says it's not part of the plan, but Caspian mentions that he wouldn't have met the old Kings and Queens if it weren't for Cornelius. Susan believes she can handle Miraz with Peter's help, and Caspian quickly heads to the dungeon.

When he gets there, Cornelius looks surprised and asks why Caspian is back at the castle. Caspian says he'll explain later, and as they're about to escape, Cornelius tells him not to underestimate Miraz like his father did. Caspian looks shocked and asks what he means, and Cornelius confirms that Miraz killed Caspian's dad. Caspian seems pissed and immediately heads to Miraz's room.

He then wakes Miraz and threatens to kill him. Susan and Peter also enter the room and ask what Caspian is doing there because he's supposed to be at the gatehouse. Miraz's wife looks shocked and asks what's happening, but Caspian just focuses on Miraz and asks if his uncle really killed his dad. Miraz confirms this, and Caspian looks shocked.

Miraz's wife cannot believe that Miraz really killed his brother, but he just tells her to shoot Caspian with an arrow if she doesn't want her son to grow up without a father. Miraz’s wife still struggles to believe that her husband is a killer, but as she thinks about her baby, she shoots the arrow and hurts Caspian's hand. Miraz manages to escape, and Caspian and the others leave the room. Peter says he has to open the gate so that the troops can come in, but Caspian doesn't think it's a good idea because the Telmarine soldiers now know that they're around.

Peter insists on opening the gate, and Caspian helps him. Edmund then gives Glenstorm a signal to lead the troops into the castle. Unfortunately, the Telmarine soldiers quickly fight back, and as the Narnians start losing the battle, Miraz tells his men to lock the gate and trap the intruders. A minotaur quickly holds the gate, and Peter tells the Narnians to fall back.

As they do this, Caspian looks at his uncle before escaping with Cornelius. Almost immediately, Miraz shoots down the minotaur, and Peter looks shocked when he sees the creatures still inside the premises. Unfortunately, there's nothing he can do, and Miraz orders his soldiers to kill all the trapped Narnians. When Peter and the others return to the hall, Lucy notices that many of the Narnians aren’t with them.

She asks what happened, and Peter tells her to ask Caspian. Caspian seems pissed that Peter is trying to blame him for what happened, and as they're about to fight, Edmund stops them and mentions that Trumpkin is hurt. Lucy looks worried because Trumpkin is her friend, and she quickly uses her healing potion to revive him. Elsewhere, Miraz is crowned the new King at the castle, and all the lords agree to fight for him.

Shortly after, while Caspian is thinking about what happened at the castle, Nikabrik offers to give him another chance to take revenge on his uncle, since the Old Kings and Queens have failed him. Caspian seems interested in this, and a wer-wolf and a hag suddenly show up. The hag talks about summoning a power that can help Caspian, and he asks if she can guarantee Miraz's death. After she says she can, she draws a circle around Caspian and magically shows him a wall of ice where Aslan's great rival, the White Witch, happens to be trapped.

The White Witch tells Caspian to give her a drop of his blood so she can be released, but he says he's not doing that. The hag still cuts his hand, and as the White Witch tries to convince Caspian to come closer, Peter and his siblings show up and tell him not to do it. Nikabrik tries to attack them, but they kill him and his accomplices. Peter also pushes Caspian away from the White Witch, but as she's about to cast a spell on him, Edmund breaks the wall of ice.

Shortly after, Cornelius tells Caspian that he believes the prince is still the only Telmarine who can save Narnia. Peter also tells Lucy that she's lucky to have seen Aslan. He says he wishes Aslan could just give him some sort of proof, but Lucy mentions that they're the ones who have to prove themselves to him. Almost immediately, Edmund calls Peter to come outside because Miraz and his large army have arrived.

Peter looks worried and suggests sending Lucy into the woods to find Aslan. Trumpkin thinks it's a bad idea, but Peter and Edmund believe it's the only way to stop Miraz. Susan also offers to follow Lucy, and Peter tells the others that they need to hold off Miraz before Lucy returns. Caspian says he has an idea, and after he shares it, Peter sends Edmund to deliver a letter to Miraz, challenging him to single combat.

Miraz finds this funny because he has enough men to wipe out the Narnians, but Edmund implies that he's refusing because he's scared. As Sopespian and Glozelle also suggest that Miraz can avoid the fight, he seems pissed and says he'll fight Peter because he's not scared. Meanwhile, Caspian gives Susan and Lucy his horse so they can head to the woods. He wishes them good luck and offers to return Susan's horn.

Susan then tells him to keep it because he might need to call her again, and Lucy realizes that they like each other. Elsewhere, as the two Kings get ready for their battle, Miraz tells Glozelle and Sopespian to kill Peter if things aren't going his way. Shortly after, the fight begins, and the two Kings engage in a fierce battle. Meanwhile, Susan notices that Miraz's soldiers are following her and Lucy.

She then gets off the horse and tells Lucy to find Aslan while she holds off the soldiers. As Lucy continues heading into the woods, Susan shoots down some of the soldiers, and Caspian also shows up to help her. When they return to the arena, Miraz and Peter agree to take a break. Peter then asks about Lucy, and Susan says it's now up to her to find Aslan.

Meanwhile, Miraz seems pissed at Glozelle for not making a move even though Peter nearly got the better of him. When the next round begins, Peter gets the upper hand but refuses to kill Miraz. As Miraz is about to take advantage of this, Peter stabs him. He still decides against killing Miraz and says that Miraz's life is not his to take.

He then hands over his sword to Caspian and tells him to take his revenge. Miraz says he can now see that Caspian has the makings of a Telmarine king. However, Caspian tells Miraz to keep his life, and that he'll give the Narnians back their land. As Caspian walks away, Sopespian goes to help Miraz.

Miraz seems pissed and says he'll deal with Sopespian when the war is over. Sopespian then stabs Miraz with Susan's arrow and says that it's over. Miraz dies immediately, and Sopespian accuses the Narnians of killing him. As he heads back with Glozelle to meet the Telmarine soldiers, Caspian goes into the hall with some Narnians.

Glozelle leads some of the soldiers to charge toward Peter and Edmund, but Caspian and some of the Narnians break the pillars of the underground hall to trap them in a hole. This gives the Narnians the edge in the battle, but they soon realize that they're heavily outnumbered by the Telmarines. Peter tells the Narnians to fall back, but Sopespian quickly orders his soldiers to destroy the entrance leading to the hall. Since they have no other option, the Narnians decide to charge toward the soldiers to fight.

Back in the woods, Lucy finds Aslan and says she knew she saw him earlier, but that the others didn't believe her. Aslan says it shouldn't have stopped her from coming to meet him. Lucy says she's sorry, but Aslan mentions that he's still going to help. Lucy looks very happy, and Aslan roars loudly to wake the trees in Narnia.

Back on the battlefield, the Narnians struggle to withstand the attack from the Telmarines. Glozelle also gets the chance to kill Caspian, but as he hesitates, the surrounding trees suddenly come alive, and one of them knocks out the General. Caspian looks shocked when he sees this, but it turns out that the trees are now there to fight for Narnia. Sopespian looks scared and tells his soldiers to fall back.

As they get to the bridge, they see Lucy and Aslan on the other end. Before they can turn back, the Narnians also show up behind them. Sopespian looks shocked and decides to lead his men to cross the bridge and crush Lucy and Aslan. However, Aslan roars loudly to summon a river god who destroys the bridge and drowns Sopespian.

With this, the Narnians win the battle and tell the Telmarine soldiers to surrender. Susan, Edmund, Peter, and Caspian also meet Aslan and kneel before him. Aslan tells them to rise while calling them the Kings and Queens of Narnia. Caspian mentions that he's not ready to become King, but Aslan says he is.

Just then, Reepicheep's comrades bring him before Aslan to show that he's unconscious because he got hurt during the fight. Lucy then gives him her healing potion, and he wakes up immediately. He looks happy to see Lucy, and Aslan, who also meets Trumpkin. Shortly after, the Kings and Queens return to the castle, and they are welcomed in by the Telmarines.

The next day, Aslan tells Caspian to gather all the Telmarines outside the castle. After Caspian does this, he tells the Telmarines that Narnia belongs to the Narnians, just like it does to man. He adds that the Telmarines are welcome to stay in Narnia, but that for anyone who would like to go elsewhere, Aslan will take them to the home of their forefathers. One of the Lords mentions that they haven't been to Telmar in years, but Aslan says the home of their forefathers isn't Telmar.

Narnia Prince Caspian (2008) Ending Explained

He adds that he'll take anyone interested to the world where the old Kings and Queens came from. He says it's the home of their forefathers, and it's a good place for anyone who wants to start a new life. Almost immediately, Glozelle offers to go, and Miraz's wife and another Lord decide to join him. Aslan then says that because Glozelle spoke first, his future will be good in the new world.

Glozelle thanks Aslan for this, and almost immediately, a portal appears in front of them. As Glozelle and the others go through the portal, they disappear, and some of the telmarines look shocked and assume that Aslan killed them. Reepicheep offers to go through the portal with 11 mice to show that it's harmless, but Peter says that he and his siblings will go. Edmund asks if he's serious, and Peter says that their time in Narnia is up.

He also gives his sword to Caspian and says that they're not really needed any more. Caspian says he'll keep the sword until Peter returns, but Susan says they won't be back. Caspian looks shocked, and Lucy asks if they're really not coming back. Peter then says that, according to Aslan, Lucy and Edmund will still be able to return.

Lucy asks if Peter and Susan did something wrong, but Aslan says they have learned all they can from Narnia. He adds that it's time for Peter and Susan to live in their own world. Lucy doesn’t look happy, and Peter consoles her. He also mentions that even though this is not how he thought things would be, it's still alright.

He adds that Lucy will understand one day when it's her turn to leave Narnia for good. Following this, the siblings say goodbye to the Narnians, and Susan tells Caspian that she's glad she came back. Caspian says he wishes they had more time together, but Susan mentions that their relationship wouldn't have worked anyway. Caspian asks why, and Susan says she's 1300 years old.

Before she leaves, though, she hugs Caspian and expresses her love for him. After this, Susan and her siblings go through the portal and return to the train station in England. The siblings look pleased to be back, and as a train arrives, they go in and head to boarding school with smiles on their faces. After Caspian learns that his uncle wants to kill him, he escapes into the woods for safety.

There, he unexpectedly encounters some Narnians and realizes that they’re not extinct, even though that’s what the Telmarines have been made to believe. Since he’s still not sure if the Narnians are good or evil, he blows a horn to summon the Old Kings and Queens of Narnia, who realize that things are now different in the magical Kingdom. Despite this, they team up with Caspian and the Narnians to summon Aslan and save their kingdom from Miraz and Sopespian.
