The Three Fantastic Supermen (1967) Full Recap
This is Golem, a criminal mastermind who fakes his death and undergoes plastic surgery, is developing a universal robot machine that reproduces counterfeit money and makes copies of human beings. He's creating duplicates of gold, bulletproof suits, and killer human beings to rise to power and threaten world governments. Three supermen team up to conduct an undercover mission to stop Golem from ascending to power before he brings the world to an end. Two thieves, disguising themselves as supermen, stole a million pounds.
Seven hundred and fifty million dollars have also been stolen from the revenue office. Brad, one of the supermen who works as a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, is conducting a recruitment test. He needs men who can conduct a special operation and fight crime in town, but he has not gotten the best match yet. During the training, Tony, a skilled acrobat thief with a bulletproof suit, dares to steal from him.
Tony unknowingly runs into Brad's recruitment test, and he has to fight armed gunmen to protect himself. Nick, Tony’s friend who is mute and skilled in acrobatics and stunts joins him. Tony and Nick jump extraordinarily higher than the gunmen as Brad watches them. Tony pulls out a metallic ball and hits Brad on the wrist.
Seeing that he's likely to be defeated, Brad calls for more of his men. Tony and Nick outsmart all of Brad's men. Since Tony and Nick are wearing bulletproof suits, they dodge all the bullets. Nick hits some men and climbs on the walls, evading most bullets. As Brad's men shoot Tony and Nick, they rush to the next room that resembles a warehouse.
Brad enters the room, searching for them but doesn't see anyone. He's wondering where Tony and Nick have gone, since there's only one entry point to the room. Suddenly, Nick and Tony jump from the ceiling and fight Brad’s men. They outsmart all of them, almost beating Brad even though he’s an FBI agent.
Brad instructs his gunmen to give him space so that he can talk to the two supermen in suits. Everyone stops fighting. Tony and Nick remove their facemasks, revealing their faces to Brad. Brad tells them they're the right fit for the job. He must secretly work for the United States and investigate some serious matters.
The government needs someone who can perform an undercover operation without getting noticed. Most of the officers are already known by the locals, so involving them in the operation will be difficult. Now that Brad has found a team, they call themselves the Three Fantastic Supermen. Brad tells Nick and Tony they have a special mission at the Embassy of Simushir.
The embassy is located at a deserted place down the street, and there are rumors the embassy is collaborating with criminals. Simushir is a newly formed state in the Middle East. Right now, there are millions of dollars in the embassy’s safe, but they’re questioning how the embassy has raised so much money without tracing the source. The embassy is full of guards, but Brad has guns to use.
However, Tony and Nick have never liked the idea of killing. They always take the money in all their robberies without injuring the victims. From today onwards, they cease to be robbers and fight for justice. Therefore, Tony comes up with a brilliant plan to help them enter the embassy.
They buy one of the money boxes and let Nick lie inside to make it heavy. This way, the embassy guards think they have received more dollars. Next, they look for a van to transport the box. Surprisingly, their idea works and they enter the embassy. However, Natasha, one of the female security guards at the embassy, is suspicious.
Every time the embassy receives luggage or parcel, they're always informed beforehand. However, this time, they're receiving some money without prior notice. Something might be wrong. In addition, the men who deliver the packages are very new. Natasha has never seen these new faces, and she asks them where they’re coming from.
Brad and Tony tell Natasha it’s their first time delivering the package to the embassy. Moreover, they never knew whether the embassy must be informed before delivering any parcel or luggage. Perhaps this could be a slight issue with the embassy's transport and communication departments. Natasha allows Brad and Nick inside the basement and directs them to take the money to the safe.
Thinking they have received more dollars, they trust the strangers since the embassy is also involved in illegal businesses. One of the security guards asks Natasha to call the guys who have delivered the parcel back before they leave. Unfortunately, they have already left, but their van is still outside. Immediately, she calls other security guards to search the embassy.
It’s when they’re realizing some intruders within their building, but it’s too late. As the male security agent looks around, Tony uses his metallic ball tied on a rope to hit him on the forehead. Brad fights the security guards outside the embassy, giving him room to break in. On the other hand, Nick is locked inside the safe.
He opens the box and gets outside the box and sees lots of money all around him. He has never seen such large sums of money, so he takes the chance to rob them. Their mission is to conduct an investigation, but Nick and Tony aren’t comfortable with Brad involving the FBI in this. Even though Brad promises Nick and Tony an equal share of the amount of money at the embassy, he's more focused on working for the government.
Nick and Tony are after money to better their lives. These individual differences create some disunity within the team. Nick takes a bag and starts packing more notes of dollars inside. Although he's taking the money, he doesn't take all of it. He only needs what's just enough to sustain him and his friends.
One of the guards enters the safe once he hears some movements, only to find Nick in his bulletproof superman suit collecting the money. Brad gets to one of the security guard’s cars and calls the embassy ambassador. He tricks him by saying they have just delivered a bomb. The ambassador should come out if he doesn't want his building to explode.
Before finishing the call, the ambassador sounds an alarm to alert the guards. Nick is highly skilled in martial arts. He fights the security guards, often defeating many of them as they get inside the embassy’s safe. He takes some money and breaks through the window, sneaking outside from the second floor.
Using his acrobatic techniques, he performs stunts, throws the bag full of cash inside the car and drives away with Tony. Brad remains behind to deal with the other security guards. They shoot him but he fights back using is bullet proof suit and mask. All three supermen rush into their car and drive away with the money.
Brad leads them behind the building, just a few meters from the embassy, where he meets his gunmen. Still, Nick and Tony don’t like the idea of involving the federal government in their missions. They feel like he’s going against their rules, but he’s only fighting for justice. Tony and Nick surrender the money to Brad, but he's not interested because he knows the money is counterfeit.
The embassy has been producing duplicates of money with the exact serial numbers and using them in public. All Brad wants is a sample to prove their investigation into fake money production is true. The FBI is restricted in investigating other embassies without their permission, so it is afraid of sending one of its agents. Brad assures Tony and Nick that he will pay them and calls off the operation.
Nick and Tony can’t believe they have worked for Brad, yet they’re not getting their payment immediately. Tony performs one of his high stunts and snatches the bag from Brad's hand, leaving with the money. Brad's gunmen attempt to shoot Tony and Nick, but he stops them because they have bulletproof suits. But Brad is brilliant.
He intentionally places a radio frequency in their car to track Nick and Tony. That’s why he’s not bothered following them even though they’re going with the only piece of evidence he has managed to find. As Nick and Tony drive away, they encounter the embassy's security guards, who continue chasing them. They place a device that puts the car in autopilot mode, allowing them to escape and leave the car to drive alone.
The embassy's security guards drive away, following the self-driving car until they come to a stop, only to realize it's empty. Nick and Tony have the money but have not yet decided how to use it. Using the location tracker, Brad follows Nick and Tony’s every move they make until he finds them at an acrobatic center. He comes with his gun and shoots Nick.
Nick is surprised how Brad has found them because they thought they have managed to escape him. He takes the bag of fake money and leaves with it. The FBI is interested in finding the man who makes bulletproof suits for the three supermen. This man's safety is at risk, as the embassy plans to make dangerous items that can harm the public once it collaborates with terrorists.
In fact, these suits are very rare and can only be made by a scientist. Tony and Nick are afraid of Brad, but he tells them they need to find this man before it is too late. The following day, Nick, Brad, and Tony drive to Professor Schwarz, the scientist who makes bulletproof suits and masks. Brad is familiar with Schwarz, but he has already destroyed the formula for making the suits.
Professor Schwarz knows this technology can be extremely dangerous, especially if it falls into the wrong hands. Besides, Brad knows the professor's life is at risk because the embassy is likely to take him captive and use him to produce weapons of mass destruction. That's why he has to find him before the embassy does. Brad asks Professor Schwarz for a contract.
He wants them to do business with the government. The professor is open to business as long as his inventions are not used for evil. Brad tells the professor that the government has tested some of his bulletproof suits and would like to invest in his new invention. The local government wants to use his knowledge and produce suits that are much better suited to helping the police combat crime.
Brad also takes out a bag full of dollars and tells the professor how fake the money is. Someone else outside the government has prior access to the professor's formula and is making fake money. The fake notes contain radioactive material, and they are already in circulation. The public is consuming fake money, and the government has to intervene.
The public isn't aware of it, and there's likely to be a strike if the government takes away the money by force. Everyone will blame the government for failing to take security measures to avoid such issues. Therefore, the only way is for the government to use Brad and find out what's happening. Professor Schwarz tells Brad that duplicate money is being made using a universal reproducer.
This is the machine that can reproduce and make exact copies of everything except human beings. The machine is somewhere, and whoever has it is using it to make himself rich. Brad and his team have to find out the machine's location. However, they suspect this is linked to the embassy because of its increasingly secretive activities.
Professor Schwarz admits to having invented this machine five years ago but destroyed all the formulae and the process of making it. He thought no one knows about it. However, his former assistant, Professor Wilfred Gottlieb knew about it. Wilfred died on the same day Schwarz told him about the idea of this machine, so Schwarz has known that no one else has information about it.
In fact, Wilfred died in a tragic road accident. Schwarz has not been asking himself all these days why Wilfred would die on the same day he discovers the machine that can reproduce anything. Even though Schwarz has not developed the machine to reach a level where it can reproduce perfect human beings, there's a possibility Wilfred has improved on it. Perhaps Wilfred reproduced himself, and his fake copy died in a road accident, but he's still existing.
As Brad, Tony and Nick continue having a conversation, Diana gets in the house with her armed men from the embassy. They have been looking for the three supermen to escape with their fake money, as they fear exposure to the public. The embassy has been looking for professor Schwarz for the last 5 months. Diana gets a good chance to take hold of the professor and the three supermen.
Unfortunately, the three supermen have forgotten their suits in the car outside the professor's house. They're vulnerable to bullets, and none can escape from Diana. Zizi, Professor Schwarz's daughter, is also around. Diana tells her men to take her, then changes her mind. Diana orders her men to kill the supermen and take the professor and his daughter instead.
The professor is standing beside a secret switch that opens a basement door. He flips a switch that instantly opens the basement door where the supermen are standing. The three of them fall into the basement as it closes immediately, only being opened from the underground switch. He saves the supermen, leaving himself and Zizi to be taken hostage by Diana's cruel terrorist group.
Diana's men keep firing bullets at the floor, but the door doesn't open. She calls more men to open the door, but none can open it from above. The professor has designed his house with an exit from the basement, allowing Nick to rush outside and bring the bulletproof suits. Every Superman puts on his suit as they opens the secret door from the floor.
As the supermen get out, the gunmen open fire but they survive all the bullets and fight a few of Diana's men. Some end up shooting their colleagues in an attempt to fight the supermen. One of the armed men takes out a grenade and throws it towards the supermen. Knowing that their suits cannot withstand explosions, they jump to the basement in unison.
The grenade explodes, destroying some of the items in the professor's house but Diana doesn't care about it. Diana forces Professor Schwarz and Zizi inside the car and gets away with them. The Supermen exit the basement, fight the villains, and go after Diana. Diana destroys the back of Superman's car using a grenade and escapes.
Luckily, they use his men's car and follow Diana to save the professor and his daughter. The Supermen split up and get one of Diana's men. They prompt him to take them to their leader, but he's shot by one of Diana's men from a distance before he gives them answers. The supermen go after the shooter, but he shoots himself in the abdomen before providing information.
As the shooter dies, he disappears into a colorful smoke with many colors and his body turns into precious gems. The secret is now out. The machine is now advanced enough to reproduce human beings. This is something unusual, but the supermen know what's going on. Someone has been working on the machine for the past five years, and has developed it further to reproduce human bodies.
Whatever item the machine reproduces has the same abilities and features as the original, making it difficult to notice the differences. It’s now almost impossible to distinguish between clones and real humans. Diana takes Professor Schwarz and Diana to the shore and instructs her men to transport them to an island. The supermen follow them but Diana gets away.
They drive straight into the water, making Diana’s men believe they have boarded the nearby yacht. Diana’s men fire into the yacht until it explodes, but the supermen take a motorboat and leave for the nearest island. Tony's instincts lead them to an island where the professor and his daughter are held captive. This is the island with the reproducer machine, but it is hidden way below the ground.
From a normal view, it looks quiet and calm. The supermen get themselves in a classroom full of kids. Diana changes her hairstyle by wearing a wig to disguise herself as the teacher. She has also taken hostage of many kids to experiment by reproducing them using the machine. Diana knows the supermen but they can hardly recognize her.
Tony believes he has seen this lady before, but Brad doesn’t believe him. They treat him as a teacher and decide to leave the island. Wilfred is the one behind the entire operation and has now changed his identity to Golem. Everyone believes he’s dead, but he is still alive and has assumed a new identity.
Golem wanted to disappear, so he planted someone else’s corpse in the wreck of his car. He has undergone plastic surgery to modify himself, allowing him to operate unsuspected as Wilfred Gotlieb. Everyone knows him as the millionaire philanthropist. The embassy is covering up his evil work and hoping to benefit from his work by making military equipment.
Brad is looking for professor Schwarz for humanitarian reasons, yet Tony and Nick aren’t happy about it. They make a deal. Brad should keep the FBI out of this matter and they will give him a hand. Diana has hidden the professor and Zizi in an old safe, which she opens and lowers them underground with a secret elevator.
Schwarz can’t believe what he sees. Golem has built an entire city underground, with a tunnel of 4 miles leading to an electric power station. His universal reproducer machine consumes a lot of power, and he has built a one-million-kilowatt station to power it. He has built the city just below Golem Beneficent Foundation, where he keeps orphans and less fortunate children for experimentation.
While the public knows that he’s helping people, he’s secretly planning to dominate the world. His underground city has many control rooms with reproducer machines. He has already produced golden ingots worth one hundred billion dollars just by using one original golden bar. Golem is already the richest man in the world, and he’s going to rise to power if not stopped.
The ambassador of Simushir has been financing Golem’s entire operation and together, they’re planning to rule the world. Golem forces professor Schwarz to improve the machine so that he can test whether it can reproduce a human body. He tests one of the kids, and the machine reproduces the kid as exactly as she is. He believes testing one sample isn’t enough and tests more kids in his foundation.
The FBI is digging deeper into the case and is finding out more about Golem’s hideouts. The Simushir embassy intentionally burs down its entire building, leaving no evidence. No one suspects what has been happening at the embassy since all the documents are consumed by fire. Meanwhile, Golem is organizing a party and invites guests from different organizations to his beneficence foundation.
None of the invited guests knows what’s happening beneath the building. Everyone recognizes him and he’s praised by journalists for being a benevolent industrialist. The three supermen want to keep everything calm, so they don’t attend the party. Unknows to the guests, Golem has been blackmailing woman across the country and taking their children captive on the island.
He threatens to kill them if they don’t obey his orders. Moreover, he doesn’t allow any of the invited guests to see any of the children or speak to them, because they may reveal his secrets. He uses Diana to disguise as a teacher, yet the children are suffering and aren’t allowed to see their parents for many months. This gives him a chance to obtain many subjects for experimentation.
Golem is tired of sending his men to get the supermen because they keep failing every time. He comes up with a clever plan and lured them into a trap. He lets one of his guards to intentionally open the door for the kid to escape. As the kid tries to get out, he accidentally slips over a long building and hangs himself on the wall.
The kid shouts for help, making the supermen to save him. Tony climbs on the wall using his special shoes and takes hold of the kid, but he’s hanging on a rope. Some of Golem’s armed men come with a truck, pretending to provide a safe landing space for Tony to fall with the kid without injuring himself. Seeing that their friend is having trouble landing while holding the kid, Nick and Brad come to the rescue.
Suddenly, one of Golem’s snipers shoots the rope holding the three supermen as they fall inside the truck. The drivers inside the truck lock it and throw an anesthetic gas inside, making all three supermen dizzy and lose their consciousness. Unaware of what's happening, Golem gets a chance to take away their bulletproof suits and secret weapons for reproduction. HE wants to reproduce many suits and raise an army that will revolt against the government.
He transports the supermen to his secret chamber inside the tunnel where he hides his underground reproducing machine. Golem instructs his security guards to tie up the supermen in a separate room a few miles away from his station where he can observe them on a screen. The supermen wake up when the anesthesia is over, only to find themselves in a heavily guarded room. Diana feels Golem isn’t being fair when she realizes he’s planning to kill all the kids after reproducing them.
They have seen what he’s doing, and they’re likely to expose him, so he decides to get rid of them. However, she can be killed if she faces Golem and tells him that whatever he's doing is wrong. Therefore, she unknowingly liaises with the supermen by whispering in Brad's ear. Golem asks her to respond, but she pretends it's a short circuit with the communication system.
She's carrying a flower while hiding a knife inside. Golem kills the supermen by tying their hands and legs on a large stone and drowning them in water. Diana throws the flower into the water, and the supermen take out the knife, cut the ropes, and swim out of the pool. Golem sees the supermen on the screen and instructs his guards to kill them.
However, his guards have forgotten their guns in the drowning room. The supermen grab the guns faster before Golem's guards arrive and shoot the guards. Brad leaves Sarkis, one of Golem's seniormost guards. He uses Sarkis to show him the way out by telling Sarkis to shut down the power.
The only passage outside Golem's underground territories is through the safe. Only Golem and Diana have the laser to open the safe and provide an escape route from the underground basements. Opening the safe by other means will blow it up, and this risks the life of every civilian, including the children Golem has kept as hostages. Sarkis pushes Brad to an electric field, which partially electrocutes him, leaving Brad unconscious.
Once Golem reproduces more people in his organization, he becomes a sadist and starts killing everyone who dares to stand against him. He commands his workers to tie up Brad, produce as many supermen as possible, and raise the entire army of strong people. With this army, he will conquer governments and bring down anyone who dares to criticize his work. The reproducer machine develops a problem when reproducing Brad.
Some of the features on the right side of the body appear on the left. Clones aren't as perfect as the original human beings, but he prefers clones that serve him and blindly follow his commands without questioning. He instructs the two reproduced supermen to attack and kill Tony and Nick. As Tony and Nick see Brad, they think he's their friend until he starts attacking them.
Brad's copy's new mission is to kill, which is exactly what it does. It fights Nick and Tony, almost outsmarting them. Tony saves himself from the killer copy by climbing on the wall. He cuts a huge rope of gold once the copies are standing together, ready to fight. The huge block falls on them, crushing Brad's copies to death.
The Three Fantastic Supermen (1967) Ending Explained
Nick and Tony escape to another room, where they manage to steal the laser key from Diana. Golem gets an alarm about the impending intruders in the tunnel, but he seems unbothered. His defense is reproducing more copies of Brad and instructing them to fight. Every copy he produces mimics the character of the original human version, but he lacks the ability to decide.
He thinks he's reproducing human copies when he's actually dealing with lifeless copies that rely on instructions. Golem can turn friendly humans into harmful criminals to serve his desires by giving them the wrong instructions. He's already converting copies of Brad into killer machines. As all this is happening, Golem has tied Brad in the reproducer.
Brad returns to his senses and realizes he's trapped in Golem's underground basement. One of the mirrors on the reproducer breaks, affecting the vital component of the reproducer's functioning. Golem is angry because he's just about to ascend to his glory using his new invention and rise to power. He threatens professor Schwarz to repair it, but this will take about three to five years more to develop a new one.
Out of anger, Golem shoots Professor Schwarz in the abdomen. The professor has been expecting Golem to turn against him, so he doesn't die from the bullet. Schwarz has been secretly working on a new bulletproof suit which he wears inside his lab coat. Brad succeeds in breaking free from the ropes tying his hands in the reproducer machine and fights Sarkis.
The reproducer machine has shocked and Golem can no longer reproduce copies of anything, even if it is money. The professor destroys the machine and every duplicate copy of human beings disappears immediately and turns into radioactive precious gems. However, copies of the money and gold bars are still around, and nothing has happened to them. It turns out that the professor and Sarkis have also reproduced themselves before leaving the premises.
The three supermen follow the Golem and Sarkis, catching up with them at the elevator before they escape. Golem has already organized a helicopter to carry his duplicate golden bars, hoping to sell them and make a fortune. The pilot restricts Golem from overloading the helicopter. Otherwise, it won’t take off if he exceeds the required carrying capacity.
He shoots the pilot and tells Sarkis to prevent the supermen from causing any harm to him. Golem and Sarkis use Zizi as a hostage to escape. Sarkis connects high-voltage wires to the metallic bridge between Superman and the helicopter. Tony performs a high stunt, reaches Sarkis and brings him down in a furious fight.
Nick uses his metallic ball-like weapon to hit Golem’s hand, allowing him to drop the gun. Brad saves Zizi as Golem moves backwards, tripping over a cliff and dies. Working together and using their special abilities, this unlikely team ensures the world's safety. But with Golem's plans exposed, the city is now left wondering what new threats might emerge in his absence.
Still, Golem's ambition and technology leave many questions unanswered among the public and the government. But do you think the world is really safe from future masterminds like Golem?
