Monte Carlo (2011) Full Recap
A girl named Grace and her friend Emma work as waitresses at a restaurant in Texas. While at work, some high school students come in for a meal, and Grace recognizes them as her classmates. She seems uncomfortable having them around, and Emma offers to help her take their orders. Grace says she'll handle it, and as she gets to the table, she greets her classmates and talks about their upcoming graduation.
However, one of them, Amanda, just tells Grace to take their orders and serve them. Meanwhile, Emma's boyfriend, Owen, arrives at the restaurant to see Emma. Owen then spots Grace and asks how she's doing. Grace says she just has 2 days left, but Owen looks confused. Emma then points out that they're going to Paris after Grace's graduation.
The next day, Grace attends her graduation ceremony, and while the validictorian is giving a speech, a girl named Meg accidentally bangs the door as she comes in. This gets everyone's attention, and Mag looks embarrassed. It turns out that Meg is actually Grace's stepsister, and she quickly heads over to sit with her dad, Robert, who is married to Grace's mom, Pam. Grace doesn't look happy to see Meg, but she just continues listening to the validictorian speech.
After the ceremony ends, Emma congratulates Grace and jokes that this is the first time she has been to the school since dropping out. Pam also congratulates her daughter, but Grace asks why Meg is around. Pam says Me wanted to come, but Grace doesn't believe this because she knows her mom and Robert likely convinced me to come. Interestingly, Emma also seems to have a problem with Meg, who used to be her old classmate.
Emma and Grace believe Me is uptight, but Me doesn't seem to care what they think. Robert eventually gets the girls to pose for a picture together before they head home. During the family dinner, Grace thanks her parents for the nice celebration party, but Robert tells her not to thank them yet. Grace looks confused, but Robert suddenly shows her the luggage they got for her.
Grace looks shocked and Robert mentions that she can take it to Paris and then to college in the fall. Me adds that it's an expensive luggage, but Emma doesn't understand why Meg had to say that. Robert then mentions that there's one more surprise for his daughters as they look confused. Pam says she and Robert want Meg to follow Grace and Emma to Paris.
Robert says he'll also be upgrading their flights, but the girls don't look excited. Shortly after, Me complains to her dad that she doesn't understand why he wants her to go on the trip. She says she doesn't like Emma and that she's not Grace's babysitter or sister either. Robert then mentions that he doesn't know how else to make Meg happy.
He says she's in her last year of college, but that she has barely gone out since her late mom died. He adds that Meg should be making new friends, having fun, and living her life because it's what her mom would have wanted. Meanwhile, Owen takes Emma home, and just before she gets out of his car, he tries to convince her not to go to Paris. Emma doesn't get this, but Owen asks her to marry him.
Emma cannot believe this and even though she likes Owen, she asks why he's just saying it when she's about to travel out of Texas for the first time in her life. She then angrily gets out of the car because Owen didn't even buy her a ring. And it's clear that he only asked for her hand in marriage to keep her in Texas. Elsewhere, Pam tells Grace that she wants me to go on the trip so that Grace will have a responsible adult around.
Unlike Emma, Grace says she would like to go to Paris without Meg, but Pam insists. The next day, the girls leave for Paris, and when they arrive, they board a bus provided by a tour company. As the bus moves, the tour guide tries to show the guests some of Paris's best spots. However, the bus moves too fast for anyone to even catch a glimpse of where the tour guide is showing them.
The tour guide eventually stops the bus to show the guests some other places. Everyone seems to be too fast for Emma and Me says it's probably because she's wearing heels. Following this, Emma leans on a stranger to take off her heels and Mag looks surprised. Emma eventually thanks the stranger for helping and Mag nearly falls while climbing the steps.
Luckily, the stranger, Riley, quickly holds her and she appreciates this. After a long day, the girls stop at a restaurant for dinner with the rest of the group, and they seem frustrated by how disorganized the tour has been. Shortly after, the girls are dropped off at their hotel, and when they locate their room, they realize that it's nothing like what was advertised. Me and Emma believe the trip has been a disaster so far.
But Grace tells them to be positive. She says that even though they have clearly been ripped off, they can still manage the room. The next day, the girls continue their tour and are taken to the Eiffel Tower. There, they admire the city and Emma notices that Riley is staring at Meg.
As Me looks at him, he waves at her and she seems pleased because she likes him. Almost immediately, he comes over to introduce himself and says he saw her yesterday. Before Me can properly introduce herself, Emma and Grace spot their tour guide leaving with the other guests. The girls look shocked and run as fast as they can to meet the bus.
Unfortunately, the bus leaves before they can get to it, and they look annoyed. Meg says the tour has been a mess, and Grace assumes that she's being blamed for everything. She says she's sorry for choosing a terrible tour company and making Emma and me regret their decision to come with her. Emma and Meg try to calm her down, but she just walks away.
That night, the girls walk in the rain as they try to locate their hotel. They eventually stop outside another hotel, and Grace suggests going in. Emma and Mag are unsure about this, but as Grace walks in, some photographers quickly take photos of her. Me and Emma look confused, but they follow Grace to the restroom and see her crying.
They try to console her, but she just goes into one of the stalls and tells them to leave her alone. Interestingly, a British aerys named Cordelia is also at the hotel and she looks just like Grace. Cordelia happens to be arrogant and she seems pissed at the hotel receptionists who have yet to help her get her luggage to the hotel. She asks how they expect her to go to Monte Carlo tomorrow without her things, but the men assure her that they'll get everything sorted.
Cordelia then ignores them and walks into the restroom while speaking on the phone with her friend. Emma and Meg look shocked to see her because she's just like Grace. They then listen to Cordelia as she tells her friend that her mom wants her to go to a charity event to repair her rep. As she says she'll probably skip the event and meet her friend in Morca, she suddenly notices that Emma and Me are staring at her.
She doesn't understand this and after she ends her call, she angrily walks away. Almost immediately, Grace comes out of the stall and asks who the other person was. Emma and Meg then talk about how Grace looks so much like Cordelia. Grace doesn't believe this and she says they need to leave.
On their way out, the receptionists stop her and mention that they have sorted out the issue with her bags. However, one of the receptionists interrupts them and shows them the food Cordelia ordered. Grace seems hungry and tells the man to send it to her room. After the girls enjoy the meal, they talk about how big the room is.
Me says they cannot stay because it's not theirs, but Grace and Emma mention that they're only there to rest for the night. Me eventually joins them and the girls sleep peacefully. The next morning, as they try to leave the hotel secretly, one of the receptionists stops them and says that Grace's car is ready. He also gives her a package that was just delivered to the hotel.
Emma tells Grace to take it. And as they're about to run away, the receptionist shows them the car. Grace says they'll walk, but the man says they cannot walk to the airport. Emma quickly enters the car when she hears that they're going to the airport. The other girls also join her, and some photographers outside the hotel take their pictures.
Emma then opens the package Grace collected earlier, and Meg looks shocked. Meg says they have to head back to their crap tour, but Emma says it seems they're heading to Monte Carlo. Me doesn't like this, but Emma says they have to go because it's already been paid for regardless of whether Cordelia goes or not. Grace also seems interested because they'll be heading to Monte Carlo in a private jet.
And she convinces me to change her mind. Shortly after, they reach the airport and enter the private jet. Emma and Grace look happy to be there, but Mag still doesn't think they're doing the right thing. Just then, they find a magazine that helps them learn more about Cordelia and her brash nature.
Shortly after, the girls arrive in Monte Carlo, and a driver takes them to a hotel where they meet a man named Bernard and his son Theo, who thinks Cordelia is a little monster because of all the things he has read about her. Bernard then welcomes Grace to Monte Carlo on behalf of his foundation. Grace speaks with a British accent and introduces Bernard and Theo to her friends. Bernard then tells the girls to freshen up before Theo comes back to take them to the ball.
Grace looks confused, but Theo says the ball is being thrown in her honor. The ball. Shortly after, the girls get to their room and Grace and Me suggest finding a way to leave. Emma believes they can just continue playing along and enjoying their vacation. But Meg doesn't like this.
Emma insists that there's nothing wrong with what they're doing, and Me and Grace decide to continue playing along. After going through Cordelia's things, they find some new dresses and an expensive necklace, which Grace decides to put on. Elsewhere, Owen starts regretting his decision to fight with Emma before she left for Paris. He then calls her phone, but it turns out that she forgot it at the cheap hotel in Paris.
A strange man answers the phone after he hears it ringing in Emma's bag, and he tells Owen that she's not available. Owen doesn't understand this, and since he doesn't want to lose Emma, he decides to leave for Paris. Elsewhere, Grace, Mag, and Emma leave the room and are taken to the ball by Theo. After taking a few pictures, Me and Emma leave Grace alone with Theo.
Grace then asks Theo why people are staring at her, and he says it's because she's wearing the necklace, which will be her donation for Friday's auction. Grace looks shocked because staying for the auction means she'll have to spend the whole week in Monte Carlo. Theo then mentions that his dad thinks they can build 20 schools with the money they raise. Grace says it's amazing and that it almost makes dressing up worth it.
Almost immediately, Me and Emma show up again, and one of Theo's friends, Prince Dominico, walks up to them. Theo introduces his friend to the ladies, and Dominico asks if Emma would like to dance with him. After she agrees, they head to the dance floor, and Theo spots Cordelia's aunt, Alicia, talking to his dad. He then tells Grace that her aunt is around, and she looks shocked.
Theo also mentions that his dad appreciates Alicia's efforts in convincing Cordelia's mom to donate to their foundation. As Alicia and Bernard walk toward them, Grace looks scared, but Me encourages her and tells her everything she read about Alicia and Cordelia in the magazine. Just then, Alicia greets Grace and says she came to Monte Carlo to verify her niece's presence. Grace quickly tries to wrap up the conversation so she can leave, but Alicia says there's something different about her.
Grace immediately sounds arrogant and walks away, and Alicia tells Bernard that she's worried about Cordelia. Me looks amazed and realizes that Alicia really thinks Grace is Cordelia. The next day, Grace, Meg, and Emma head to the beach close to their hotel. There, Emma gets pissed when Meg tries to correct her, and this causes a fight.
As they insult each other, Emma nearly talks about Me's late mom and Mag looks disappointed. She then walks away angrily and Grace scolds Emma. As Me decides to leave the beach, she bumps into Riley, who asks if she's following him. Me says she's not, and he asks about her tour bus.
Me says it left them a long time ago, and Riley offers to take her around. Stupid bus. Elsewhere, Emma returns to the hotel and sees a big bouquet in the room. She looks surprised and realizes that it's for her. After she reads the card on it, she figures out that it came from Dominico, who says he'll pick her up later for a date.
Elsewhere, Owen arrives in Paris and finds the first hotel where Emma and the others stayed. There, he meets the man who answered the call earlier. He then asks if the man knows where Emma is. The man says she's gone, but Owen looks disappointed that the man cannot give him more information.
Meanwhile, Theo sees Grace on the road and tells her to enter his car because she's late. Grace asks where they're going, and Theo suddenly notices that she sounds different. Grace realizes her mistake and switches to the British accent, after which she enters the car. After they return to the hotel, Grace realizes that she has to play polo because it's one of Cordelia's favorite sports.
She then heads to her room to change her clothes. During the game, Grace seems lost and barely hits the ball. Alicia looks confused and calls Cordelia's number. Surprisingly, Cordelia answers the phone and Alisa ends the call. This is Cordelia. After the game, Alicia goes to meet Grace to ask her something only Cordelia would know.
Grace gives a wrong answer, and Alicia says she cannot believe that Cordelia really hired a lookalike to attend the charity event. She says she'll call the police, but Grace begs her not to do that. She says she doesn't want anything to get in the way of helping the kids who will go to the schools Bernard will build. Alicia seems impressed and decides not to tell anyone as long as Grace continues playing along.
Meanwhile, Riley and Meg spend some time having fun around Monte Carlo. A while later, Riley talks about how he started traveling around the world after he got injured while playing rugby. He says he didn't like being in a hospital and after he was discharged, he figured out that moving around the world was the best way to get his life back. Me also talks about missing her mom and how she hasn't recovered from the loss.
Back at the hotel, Emma gets ready for her date and decides to put on the special necklace. That night, while she's in a car with Dominico, she sees Riley and Meg on a bike. She looks shocked and stops to talk to me, who seems to be in love with Riley. Emma looks happy for her and says sorry for what happened on the beach earlier.
Me says she's also sorry and she takes the necklace from Emma to keep it safe. She then puts it inside Riley's bag and leaves with him while Emma heads back to meet Domenico. They soon arrive at the venue of their date and Emma feels out of place. She also seems disgusted by the way Dominico and the other guests at the table are treating the waitresses.
After she gets tired of the situation, she carries her tray and walks away, leaving Dommenico shocked. Meanwhile, Theo and Grace go to the stable to care for the horses there. Theo then says Grace is different and not what he expected. Grace says being different is good, but Theo talks about how he never feels different because he's not really doing anything that makes an impact in the world.
He says he's just faking his way through life and Grace says she knows what it feels like. Theo says there's nothing fake about her and Grace doesn't know what to say. None of it means anything. Theo then tells her to come with him and as she agrees, he shows her a beautiful view of the city.
He says he's trying to impress her and Grace looks pleased. After a while, he takes her back to the hotel and she tells him that she had a nice time. Theo says he also enjoyed her company and Grace thinks about telling him who she really is. However, before she can, the elevator door opens and she says she'll see him later.
When she gets to the room, she sees Emma sitting alone and watching a movie. As Grace asks what's wrong, Emma says she misses Owen and that she might have blown her chances of being with him by coming to Paris. Grace also looks sad and says that the first time a boy likes her for who she is, she's pretending to be someone else. She adds that Theo will hate her when he finds out.
However, Emma cheers her up and says she's sure Theo will only realize how lucky he is to have her. Elsewhere, Owen spends the night outside a restaurant in Paris. The next morning, as he prepares to continue his search for Emma, he sees a photo of her, Meg, and Grace in a newspaper. He also figures out that they're in Monte Carlo, and he decides to go there.
Elsewhere, Riley drops Meg off and says he would like her to come to Tuscanyany with him so they can spend more time together. Me says she wishes she could come with him, and Riley mentions that she can still meet him at the train station because his train leaves at noon. Me then heads up to the room and sees Emma and Grace arguing about something. Me asks what the problem is, and Emma asks for the necklace.
Almost immediately, Meg realizes that she didn't take it from Riley's bag. She heads to the balcony with the others and realizes that Riley is gone. Me also looks frustrated because it's almost noon. Before they can think of what to do next, they see Cordelia arriving at the hotel and look shocked.
How far is the train station from here? As Cordelia approaches the front desk, she tells the receptionist to get her the key to her room. She seems quite bossy and tells the man to hurry up. Meanwhile, Grace and the others start arranging the room so that Cordelia won't know they were there.
As Cordelia is about to enter the elevator, Theo stops her to express his love for her, but she just slaps his face. Theo looks confused, but Cordelia just heads up to her room. When Cordelia gets to the room, she doesn't see anyone inside, and it turns out that Grace and the others have escaped through the balcony. They then head to the train station and notice that Riley's train is gone.
Since they can't get the necklace anymore, Emma suggests running away, but Grace says she won't do that. She adds that she's responsible for what happened and she has to fix it. Meg supports this and the girls leave immediately. Let's just get on a train and go. Coincidentally, Owen has just arrived in Monte Carlo, but he doesn't see the girls.
Back at the hotel, Cordelia sees a newspaper article showing a photo of someone who looks just like her standing with two strangers. She looks shocked and checks her jewelry box to confirm that the necklace is still there. Unfortunately, she doesn't find the necklace. and this makes her freak out. Almost immediately, Riley returns to the hotel with the necklace.
When he gets to the front desk, the receptionist gets a call from Cordelia telling him to call the police because she has been robbed. The receptionist looks confused, but Cordelia shouts at him to call the police. Riley just walks away and decides to find Meg's room. Cordelia also calls the police herself and tells them to come to the hotel almost immediately.
Grace and the others arrive and as the receptionist sees her, he looks shocked. He says he was just about to call the police to report that she was robbed, but Grace tells him not to do that anymore. As the girls are about to head to the room, Theo stops them to say that the auction is in 5 minutes. Grace asks how he's doing, but he looks confused because she just slapped him.
As she also expresses her feelings for him, he looks shocked and says he doesn't understand women. When the girls almost reach the room, they see Riley and realize that he came back with the necklace. The girls quickly run to meet him. And after Grace collects the necklace, Meg tells him to wait for her in the lobby.
They then ring the doorbell outside Cordelia's room, and as she opens the door, she looks shocked to see them. She still allows them in and says she'll wait for the police to arrive to arrest them. The girls try to explain that it was just a mistake and they now have the necklace. Cordelia doesn't seem to care and she says she'll cancel the auction.
Emma cannot believe this. But as Cordelia is about to call the police again, Mag stops her. Meanwhile, Owen arrives at the hotel and goes to meet the receptionist to ask about Emma and her friends. Before the man can respond, a police inspector arrives with his men. Theo and the receptionist try to stop them because Cordelia already told them that there wasn't a robbery.
The inspector insists on seeing Cordelia and he heads to her room with his men, "Sorry, sorry, sorry." When they reach the hallway, they hear Cordelia shouting, and they quickly head to the room. Before the inspector barges in, Mag opens the door and clarifies that there was no robbery. Grace also comes out in her dress and tells Theo to help her put on her necklace. The inspector then asks why she shouted just now, and Meg says she was just happy when she saw the necklace.
Following this, the inspector decides to escort Grace to the auction. After they leave, Meg heads into the inner room where Cordelia has been tied up while Emma stays with her. Me then tells Cordelia that they'll let her go after the auction. As she heads back down to meet Grace, they see Owen sitting in the lobby, and he asks for Emma.
Me says she's upstairs, but that Owen cannot go there now. As she walks away, Owen ignores what she said, and Riley tells him where to go. When he gets to the room, he rings the doorbell, and Emma goes to check who is there. As she sees him, she looks shocked and realizes that he came all the way from Texas to see her.
Owen says he didn't want to lose her. And Emma seems quite happy and says she knows he's the best person for her. Interestingly, Cordelia manages to untie herself and as she escapes, Emma looks shocked. Meanwhile, during the auction, Grace feels bad about lying and decides to tell the truth.
Me supports her, but before she can say anything, Cordelia shows up and says that Grace is an impostor. Theo and everyone in the room look shocked, but Grace confirms this and says she's just a regular girl from Texas. She also apologizes for pretending to be Cordelia, but Theo angrily walks away, saying he thought she was different. Almost immediately, Owen bids €3 million for the necklace, and everyone looks shocked.
