The Peanut Butter Solution (1985) Full Recap
Don't fight. Gum out. Please play well. A girl named Susie wakes up early to prepare breakfast for her brother Michael before he heads to school. Michael seems annoyed when he sees Susie wearing their mom's robe. And as she tries to give him a healthy fruit drink, he rejects it. Susie says it's no different from what their mom makes for him.
But Michael still refuses to let her pour the drink into his cup as she accidentally spills some on the table. She angrily heads up to meet their dad, Billy, to report that she can't stand her brother. Billy looks frustrated because he's still struggling to come up with an idea for his artwork. And Susie asks if he can even hear her.
Billy says he can, but that he's tired of hearing her complain again because she did the same thing last night. He adds that Susie has to understand that with their mom being away for a while, Michael might need some time to adapt to the situation. Susie still doesn't look happy, but she thinks about what her dad just said. Meanwhile, Michael's friend, Connie, arrives at the house and asks if Michael is ready for soccer practice.
I said, are you going to try? Michael doesn't look happy because he's tired of Suzie always complaining about him, but Connie tells him not to think much about it. Michael then asks if Connie heard the fire engines in the neighborhood last night. Connie says he was right in the middle of the action and Michael looks surprised.
Almost immediately, Billy heads down with Suzy, and Connie says hi to them. Michael then tells his dad that Connie was at the fire last night. Connie confirms this and says that half the neighborhood was there as he jokes about how some people nearly got suffocated by the smoke. Michael asks where the fire came from.
Great great grandson. Connie says it was from the old spooky house in the neighborhood where the homeless people stay. Michael looks sad when he hears this and Connie asks what's wrong with him. Michael then says that he saw a homeless man begging for some money outside the house a while ago, but everyone just ignored him.
He adds that he felt so bad and eventually gave the man all the money he had. Almost immediately, Connie remembers that they'll be late for school and they leave the house together. Michael eventually stops to check the mailbox to see if there are any letters from his mom. Unfortunately, he doesn't find any letters from her, and he just heads over to meet Connie.
Shortly after, they walk past the burnt house, and Michael suggests going inside to see what it's like. Connie doesn't think it's a good idea, and he tells Michael that some people died inside there a few hours ago. He then encourages his friend to walk faster so that they won't get to school late. Meanwhile, Susie goes to Billy's workshop and complains about how he never clears his plates when he's done eating.
One of the wos camps there. Billy seems tired of her frequent complaints. And he mentions that he can't concentrate on his work if she keeps disturbing him. He also tells her to go to school already, but she says she wants to change her clothes first. Later that day at school, Michael's art teacher, Senor, tells the students to draw his dog for their classwork.
As they all start doing this, Senor walks around to inspect their drawings. After a while, Senor complains that the kids need to draw what they can see instead of using their imagination. Go on, Jean. One of the students says he doesn't know what to do, and Senor quickly sketches a dog on the boy's sheet of paper.
The boy says it looks scary, but Senor just laughs and tells him to put it in his bedroom. Interestingly, Michael happens to be drawing some flames behind the dog, and this gets Senor pissed. He says that he has always warned the kids not to use their imagination in his class, and that Michael didn't have to draw the flames. He says he wants an accurate drawing and that Michael's work is just rubbish.
Almost a dog, Arson. As he tears Michael's drawing sheet, Connie defends his friend and says that Michael's dad paints things like that and sells them for huge amounts of money. Senor doesn't seem to care about this. And as he's about to tear Conniey's sheet, Connie threatens to never attend Senor's class if he does that.
Senor then drops it and walks away to check someone else's work. Elsewhere, and gallery owner named the rabbit visits Billy at the house and checks some of his latest paintings. Unfortunately, the rabbit doesn't seem impressed with the paintings. And he implies that Billy will have to do something better if he wants to replicate the huge sale he made a while ago.
Billy says that things have been really hard for him and that his wife even had to travel to Australia because her dad just died. The rabbit feels sorry for Billy, but he mentions that his clients don't care about Billy's personal problems. Just then, the rabbit sees a special painting that Billy recently made, and he looks amazed. June.
He always does, too. He then suggests selling it, but Billy says it's not for sale because it's supposed to be a birthday gift for his daughter. The rabbit says he can sell the painting for a huge price, but Billy insists that it's not for sale. Elsewhere, Michael and Connie leave school and decide to check out the burnt house.
As Connie nearly falls while trying to get in, he tells Michael that they need to leave because it's too dangerous. Michael doesn't seem bothered by this, and he manages to find his way into the building through one of the windows. Come this way. It's easier. Connie looks surprised by this, but he suddenly hears Michael screaming before he falls out of the building.
Connie then takes Michael home in a trolley, and he calls Susie to come and check up on her brother. Susie just ignores him because she thinks he's just messing with her, but as he insists, she heads out and sees Michael inside a trolley. She then tells him to get out of it, but Connie says he can't do that because he's unconscious. Susie looks confused by this, but Connie explains that he had a little accident.
As Susie says she has to call her dad, Connie mentions that they have to carry Michael inside first. After they do this, Billy sees Michael and wonders what happened to him. Susie also calls the hospital, but she's told that the doctors don't do house calls. As Billy complains about this, Michael regains consciousness and asks if he's still alive.
Billy says he is, and he also asks what happened. Michael says he can't remember anything except that he and Connie went to the burntup house. Billy seems pissed that Connie took his son there, but Connie says he tried to stop Michael from going in. But when we got there, one of us had the idea of looking inside.
He adds that Michael didn't listen to him, and it seems he saw something inside the building. Billy asks what he saw, but Connie says he has no idea. Michael happens to be barely conscious, and he also says he can't remember what he saw. Billy then jokes that Michael probably had a fright, which most people pay good money to experience in scary movies.
As Billy also tells Connie to go home, he asks if Michael will be at school tomorrow, and Susie says he will. Later that night, Billy and Susie check up on Michael while he's sleeping, and they see a cat sitting on his head. After Susie removes it, she gently leaves the room so that she won't wake Michael. The next day, Connie arrives at the house and mentions that he felt really sorry about yesterday and decided to come in early to check up on his friend.
As he asks how Michael is doing, Susie says he's better and that he'll soon join them for breakfast. Billy still seems harsh toward Connie because he thinks what happened to Michael was Conniey's fault. Almost immediately, Michael walks down the stairs and they all see that he's now bald. Michael doesn't seem to know this and he asks if they're being serious.
Suzie and Billy eventually get him to sit down at the table. Don't believe it. And they start wondering if he caught something from the cat that made him lose all his hair. As they leave the table, Michael asks Connie if he's really bald. and his friend gives him the toaster to look at his reflection on it.
Just then, Michael sees his bald head and looks shocked by this. As he also feels bad, he walks back to his room and Connie wonders if he'll get blamed for Michael's bald head. Shortly after, Billy sees Michael crying in his room and he goes to console him. He also mentions that if Michael's hair doesn't grow back the next day, we think he caught something from it.
Can't skip. They'll go to the hospital to see a doctor named Epstein. The next day, Michael still remains bald, and Billy and Susie follow him to see Epstein. When they get there, Epstein looks at Michael's head and says that he has a rare medical condition called the fright. He adds that it's the reason why Michael lost his hair, but he's sure it will grow back.
He then tells Billy that he needs to keep Michael happy in the meantime. The next day at school, Senor drags Connie into his office and asks about Michael. Rashes cats give fleas. However, Connie refuses to say anything about Michael's condition, and Senor eventually allows him to leave.
Later that night, Michael has a nightmare about the burnt up building, but he's still unable to remember what he saw that gave him a fright. He eventually heads to Billy's room looking scared, and his dad consoles him. Michael says he misses his mom and would like to call her, but Billy tells him not to do this because he'll only end up upsetting her. She's got to sell grandpa's house.
The next day, Senor is summoned to the principal's office, and when he gets there, the principal complains about how he scared a student in his class. Senor doesn't think he did anything wrong, but the principal mentions that she has done some research and figured out that he was sent away from his last two schools. She also accuses him of stealing people's paintings and being a fake teacher. Senor sounds pissed by this, and he insults her before leaving the office.
Later that day, Michael still seems pissed about his situation and he starts disturbing the house with his drums. Connie eventually shows up to tell him that Senor has been sacked, but he just shouts at his friend and tells him to leave. I said, "Forget it." Connie looks disappointed by this, and Susie tells Michael that his friend was only trying to be nice. However, Michael just shouts at them and complains that he looks disgusting.
Shortly after, Billy and Susie try to get Michael to wear a wig, but he says he doesn't want it because it will eventually fall off. Susie says it won't fall if he puts some glue on it, and Michael agrees to wear the wig. As Susie then puts the wig on Michael's head, he looks pleased. The next day, Michael feels much better and heads out to represent his school at a football competition.
Michael happens to be the best player on the pitch, and he scores a couple of goals to give his team a huge lead. The other team eventually gets frustrated by this and one of the older players angrily takes off Michael's wig. Everyone laughs at him and starts calling him names and this makes him sad. Connie tries to get the kids to leave Michael alone, but they don't listen to him.
Michael looks frustrated about the situation and runs away from the pitch, but the other players continue following him until he gets home. Shortly after, Michael locks himself up in his room and Susie tries to get him to come outside. However, he just tells her to leave him alone because her glue didn't work well. Later that night, Michael leaves his room and decides to call his mom.
Just before the call goes through, he sees a strange shadow in the kitchen and decides to check it out. When he gets there, he sees the homeless man he helped the other day, Tom, along with another woman named Mary. Tom and Mary happen to be taking some food from the kitchen, and they don't seem to care that Michael can see them. Tom then mentions that Michael was the last person to help him before he and Mary died in the fire at the old house.
Michael says they can't just break into his house to take whatever they want. But Mary says they can because they're ghosts who can go wherever they want. As Tom opens the cupboards in the kitchen, Michael tells him not to do that because his dad will wake up and send them away. However, Tom says that ghosts don't make any sounds and that Michael can only hear them because he can see them.
Tom then tells Michael to close his eyes and confirm this. And as he does this, he realizes that it's true. After this, Tom tells Michael to sit down because Mary has something for him. Just then, Mary shows Michael an old recipe that can help him grow his hair back. Michael tries to collect it from her, but Mary says she can't give it to him because it's her only treasure.
She then starts calling out the ingredients he needs to mix together to get his hair back. Interestingly, some of the ingredients happen to be weird things like kitty litter, dead flies, rotten eggs, spoons of soil, and peanut butter, which happens to be the most important thing in the recipe. Mary also tells Michael not to add too much peanut butter because the results might be terrible. Michael seems confused by this, but Mary says that he has to be careful when applying the mixture on his head.
After this, Tom and Mary leave the house, and Michael starts getting the ingredients for the mixture. The next day, Susie and Billy see him taking some spoonfuls of soil, and they wonder what he's trying to do. After he mixes all the ingredients, Billy grabs Michael and tells Susie to pour the mixture away because they think he wants to drink it. Michael looks disappointed by this, and he also laments because he doesn't remember the ingredients anymore.
The next night, Tom and Mary appear before him again, and Michael looks shocked to see them. Michael then begs Mary to list the ingredients for him again, but she refuses to do this. However, Tom takes the recipe from her and gives it to Michael before they leave. After this, Michael secretly mixes the ingredients again, but he decides to add extra peanut butter because he wants his hair to grow fast.
He then carefully applies the mixture on his head, just as Mary advised him to do. The next day, Michael washes off the mixture from his head, but he sees that he's still bald. He looks disappointed by this and heads down to the kitchen to apologize to Suzie for how he acted the other day when she poured his mixture away. Three Crosby crackers.
Suddenly, Susie notices that his hair is already growing, and she calls her dad to come and take a look. When Billy gets to the kitchen, he sees that Michael is no longer bald. In just a few minutes, Michael's hair continues growing rapidly, and Susie looks shocked. Connie also arrives at the house and looks happy to see his friend's hair.
Shortly after, Connie realizes that Michael's hair is growing really fast, and he asks what his friend did to it. Michael then tells him about the mixture, and Connie says he would like to use it to grow his pubic hair. Michael finds this funny, but he eventually gives it to Connie before going back to meet Billy and Susie, who look quite shocked to see how fast his hair is growing. Later that day, Michael heads to school with Connie, and one of his classmates thinks he's wearing a wig.
However, Connie proves that it's Michael's real hair, but the girl complains that he has dandruff. Connie still defends Michael, and they eventually head to the class together. We bring the [clears throat] one down and the When they get there, Michael's hair continues growing and obstructing his eyes. His classmates find this funny, and as they play with his hair, the teacher sees them.
They then tell him that Michael's hair is growing rapidly, but the teacher doesn't believe this. He adds that human hair grows only half an inch a month, but Michael says his hair isn't growing like that. Later that night, his hair grows longer, but Susie and Billy don't think it's a problem. Connie also joins them for dinner and Billy says sorry to him for being harsh earlier.
Connie says it's fine and he continues enjoying his meal. Shortly after, Michael's hair continues growing and as it disturbs him while eating, he asks if Susie can help him cut it. However, Susie advises him against doing that because she likes his long hair. Connie also mentions that if the hair continues growing fast, Michael will become the record holder for the longest hair in the world.
The next day, Connie helps Michael trim his hair while in class, but their teacher doesn't like this because the sound of the scissors keeps distracting him. As he tells them to leave the class, Michael says he also wants to be educated. But the teacher still sends him and Connie to the principal's office. When they get there, the principal says they can't continue coming to the school because she has received multiple reports about Michael's hair being a distraction in class.
She also tells Connie that he has the same problem. And as he looks confused, he sees that there's hair growing out of his pants. Later that night, Connie struggles to sleep because the hair on his legs is making him uncomfortable. As he then sees the hair still growing, he starts yelling at it and it suddenly stops.
Elsewhere, Michael has a nightmare in which he sees some dogs dragging his hair and nearly killing him. The next day, as Suzie and Billy pack up all the hair they're about to throw away, Michael leaves the house and says that he's going to school. Billy says they don't want him there, but Michael insists that he wants to go. On the way, the wind keeps blowing his air around, and he eventually decides to stop near a house in the neighborhood.
There, Senor suddenly walks up to him and says something in a foreign language. The next day, Michael is declared missing, and Billy looks devastated by this. Surprisingly, more kids get kidnapped in the town, and it is reported in the newspaper. A while later, Susie asks Connie what they'll do about Michael's disappearance, but he says he has no idea.
He then suggests asking Billy for help, but Susie says that her dad hasn't been himself since Michael went missing. She adds that he has destroyed most of his paint brushes out of frustration. Connie says Billy would have been really helpful in finding Michael because he's much smarter than most cops. As he says that they have to get Billy back on track, Susie mentions that she has an idea down to Miss P.
They then head to a nearby supermarket to buy new brushes for Billy. When they get there, the shop owner shows them a brush that costs $20. As they talk about the price, Susie notices that the hair on the brush is real and it's Michael's. They then ask the shop owner where he got the brush, and he says that a man in a big red truck delivers them.
However, he mentions that he doesn't know where the person comes from. After the kids pay for the brush, though, the shop owner tells them that the person asked to be called Senor. Susie and Connie are shocked by this, and they learn that Senor makes the deliveries only on Saturdays. Since tomorrow is Saturday, the kids decide to show up the next day to wait for him.
The next day, when Senor arrives, Susie helps Connie get into the back of the truck so he can leave a trail for her to follow. After Senor leaves the store, he sees Suzie standing outside and asks if she would like to follow him in his truck. However, Susie says her bike is just fine and Senor eventually drives away. Interestingly, Connie leaves a trail of sugar on the floor so that Susie can follow the truck.
Senor, after a while, another truck unknowingly cleans the trail and Susie looks disappointed because she won't be able to help Connie. When Senor gets to his hideout, he sees Connie at the back of the truck and calls him the principal spy. However, Connie says he's an inspector from the kidnapping division. Senor doesn't care about this and he takes Connie into a factory where a lot of kids are working.
Senor then tells Connie that he's the owner of the first and only magic brush and hair factory in the world. Connie looks shocked by this, but Senor just gets him to sit with the other kids so he can start working. Connie then sees his sister My Ling, who happens to be one of the kids who got kidnapped by Senor. Ming asks if he's really there to rescue them, and Connie says he is.
One of the other kids then tells Connie to start working because Senor always gives them a target to make 500 brushes daily before they can eat. Almost immediately, Connie hears Michael's voice coming from a different place, and he asks the other kids if all the hair they're using is from his friend. The kids confirm this and Connie also realizes that Senor was able to kidnap them by using hypnosis. One of them also tells Connie to be careful of what he says because the entire building is rigged with microphones which allows Senor to hear everything they say.
Shortly after, Connie also sees some of Senor's paintings which he made with the magic brush. Interestingly, the paintings happen to be real, and one of the kids tells Connie that they can even walk right into them. Connie asks why they haven't escaped and the boy says it's because the places are imaginary. Elsewhere, Epstein visits Billy and Suzie and as they start talking, the doctor mentions that the rabbit is his brother.
Billy and Suzie are shocked by this, but Epstein also mentions that the rabbit has an unidentical twin brotherh named Senor. Billy and Suzie look surprised and they tell Epstein to take them to meet the rabbit. When they get to the rabbit's gallery, they ask him about Senor's whereabouts, but he says that he doesn't know. However, as Billy threatens him, he reveals that Senor only comes to his place on Fridays.
Later that night, Connie sneaks out of the room to meet Michael, who appears to be barely conscious. As Connie says he's there to help his friend escape, Michael mentions that it's not important anymore because he's now doing some good with his hair by helping Senor make magic brushes. Almost immediately, Senor catches Connie talking to Michael and he traps him in a net. After Senor spins the net for a while, Connie begs to be released.

He also calls Senor his dad and says that he wants his former teacher to be his new father because he lost his biological one a while ago. [snorts] The other kids realize that Connie is lying, but Senor falls for this and feels sorry for him. He also likes the idea of being Conniey's father because he has never had a child. After this, Connie gets released and he tells Senor to teach him and the other kids the art of magical painting. Senor then calls Connie his son and asks what he would like him to paint.
Connie says he wants a painting of the old burnt up house, and Senor uses the magic brush to make it come to life. Connie then says that he wants to see what caused Michael's fright. As he's about to walk into the painting, Senor pulls him back and offers to do it because he doesn't want his son to get hurt. Following this, he enters the painting and climbs up into the building.
Almost immediately, he screams and falls out of the building before going unconscious. The kids look happy about this and they start thinking of what to do next. Meanwhile, Susie looks around the town and eventually finds the trail Connie left for her the other day. As she then sees where it leads, she goes to inform her dad.
Back at the factory, Michael's hair stops growing and Connie helps him cut it to a moderate length. As Michael wonders what happened, Connie says that his fright has been passed on to someone else. After this, the kids drag Senor away from the painting, but Michael suddenly tells Connie that he wants to see what caused his fright. Connie tells him not to do it, but Michael doesn't listen to him.
As he enters the painting and makes his way into the building, he sees Tom and Mary inside. He then realizes that they caused his fright, but he mentions that he's no longer scared of them. As he leaves the house, the other kids look happy, but Senor suddenly wakes up with a bald head and starts chasing them. All the kids start running around to avoid getting caught, but Senor still grabs a few of them.
Before he's able to grab Connie and Michael, Miling trips him, and his keys fall out of his pocket. Connie, Michael, and Mile then escape from the room. But before they can make it out of the factory, Senor shows up behind them. Michael. As the kids look scared before the main door is locked, Susie and Billy break into the factory with some cops, who immediately arrest Senor.
Susie and Billy then hug Michael and tell him how much they've missed him. They eventually head home together, and just as they arrive, Susie and Michael's mom return from her trip. Billy and the kids look happy to see her and they welcome her back with hugs. After going into an old burnt up house, Michael gets a fright that causes him to lose all his hair.
This makes him unhappy, but two ghosts eventually help him with a recipe to get his hair back. Unfortunately, he ends up adding too much peanut butter to the mixture and his hair starts growing rapidly. After several attempts to stop the rapid growth, Michael gives up and gets kidnapped by Senor, who starts using Michael's hair to make a magic brush.
