Man Controls Minds Just by Touching People’s Hearts.
Everyone thinks he’s just a regular guy… until they realize he can control minds with a single touch. But the real mystery isn’t how he does it, it’s why he’s doing it, and who he’ll choose next.
‘SPOILER ALERT’
Michael finds himself in a strange world but suddenly wakes up, realizing it was just a dream. He gets out of bed and prepares for his shit at the casino that night. Michael has been working at that casino for three months and has become acquainted with most of the staff, including the security guards who are former military personnel and some other waiters.
Richie, one of the staff, has a bad back so Michael helps him move the blackjack machine. Diana, another staff, is one of the few staff who he is unable to befriend. He tries flirting with her but all his advances face cold shoulders. While working at the casino, Michael has learned how to better serve some clients, including Mr. Gold, who can be very demanding high-level client.
With all the secrets he has acquired from his time working at the Casino, Michael reveals that he’s actually a con-artist and is in the middle of his biggest heist yet. He placed secret devices on the blackjack machines, causing them to explode at the push of a button. This causes a distraction, allowing him to go unnoticed in his costume.
Michael makes his way to a table that he has already rigged and makes some money off it. Next, he heads to Mr. Gold, who is sedated, and takes his VIP card. The next phase of his plan is to get into the VIP hall, where the most important clients will be asked to meet while the chaos is ongoing.
Shortly after getting into an elevator, Michael tampers with the control panel and places a chip in it. A worker suddenly emerges just as he’s done and walks in with new sets of playing cards. Michael asks for the VIP hall and pretends to be annoyed at the worker to show superiority. The elevator begins moving but suddenly stops when Michael activates a chip.
The worker tries calming him as he complains, but the lights go out, causing Michael to get even more furious. The power returns, and the elevator continues moving. Michael arrives at the VIP hall and shows the guards the card he took from Mr. Gold. The guards let him enter, and now the real fun begins.
Everyone at the table stake a lot of money, and each chip costs what can only be described as a small fortune. Michael didn’t just come to try his luck and he recalls some of the information he gathered from the players while pretending to be a worker. He puts on his shades and secretly activates them. They allow him to see through his opponents’ cards and know what hand they have.
This particular feat is only possible because while stuck in the elevator, Michael exchanged the real playing cards for a set that allows him see through. In an effort not to blow his cover or to be suspicious, Michael intentionally loses a few games. This also allows his opponents believe they have a chance and they won’t mind staking higher.
A strange man named Alex suddenly walks into the room and joins the game. While they play, Michael’s cards suddenly change as though morphing into different cards. He doesn’t understand what just happened and continues playing. He goes all in on his next stake, and Alex follows suit. The third opponent, pressured by Michael and Alex’s gamble, joins them.
They all reveal their cards, and Michael thinks he has won, but the woman suddenly hands all the chips to Alex. Confused, he asks what’s going on, and his cards transform right before him. Angered by his sudden loss, Michael follows Alex, or someone he thinks is Alex, and asks for his money. Guards rush to intervene as Michael grabs the wrong person, and they take him away.
Not long after this, Victor, the owner of the casino, interrogates Michael and asks where the money is. His goons strike Michael for every sarcastic response he gives, and Michael tries explaining that someone else swindled him out of it. Victor is angry because he was forced to compensate the players for their unjust losses and demands that Michael repay him. He gives Michael a week to gather the money and mentions how they’ll find him if he tries running away.
The countdown begins, and Michael begins searching for a way to make over five million pounds in seven days. He makes his way to an isolated casino that’s built in an abandoned airplane. A guard suddenly points a rifle at his head and takes him to his leader inside. There, Michael is reunited with Leon, his old friend, and he sees a familiar symbol hanging on a wall. He asks Leon what the symbol means, and Leon asks him to narrate his entire ordeal.
Michael explains how his opponent changed the cards in his hands midgame, and Leon points out that Alex altered his visual perception of the cards. He goes on to explain how there are special people who have the ability to dive into their consciousness to gain abilities. While reading his journal, he also explains how everyone is bound to the same unconsciousness, but these gifted people can enter the collective unconsciousness.
Normal people can enter the unconscious world but require a special amulet to leave. Michael thinks Leon is joking around, but decides to take a look at the journal.
Meanwhile, Alex meets a man named Gordon and hands him the money. Gordon suddenly pulls out a strange artefact from his briefcase and asks Alex to teach him how to access the unconsciousness. Alex informs him that he’ll need a partner to follow him into the unconsciousness and help him come out.
The following morning, Michael wakes up to Leon chanting some incantations in his face. Leon asks if he found Alex in the journal, but Michael was unsuccessful. He doubts what Leon says about special abilities and the unconsciousness. Leon talks about how he has seen those with special abilities and witnessed them use their powers in real life. Michael jokes about how the superhumans might be regulars at his casino, but suddenly gets an idea.
He returns to the casino floor, where he explains to Leon that he can use the super humans to make money before his deadline is up. The first person on his list of potential teammates is Eric, the son of a rich business tycoon who has no intentions of continuing his father’s business. He has the ability to move objects with his mind, and this can come in handy in moving casino pieces. Michael knows that money can’t motivate Eric to join their team. Instead, he interests Eric by offering to take him on an adventure.
Eric is cautious at first but decides to join when he realizes he won’t have to listen to his father if he does. Next, Michael selects a taxi driver named Tony, who can control electric devices. Tony has maintained a low profile and only uses his abilities to slow down meters and change traffic lights. Michael hops into his taxi and asks what his ability is. Tony denies having such and claims not to know what he is talking about.
Michael admits that he isn’t with the police and leans in to offer his proposal. Back at the airplane casino, he intends on selecting an old mind reader named Tamara to be their next partner but finds out that she works with intelligence agencies. Leon suggests he recruits a hypnotist named Kevin who’s stuck in an asylum.
The asylum uses Kevin’s abilities as a business and doesn’t intend to let him go. Michael goes to recruit Kevin and asks him to hypnotize a man into gambling. Kevin does as he’s told and is interested when Michael says they make a good team. He wants to join the team but says the workers won’t let him. One worker suddenly begins pursuing them as they’re trying to leave, but Eric causes a distraction that lets them escape in an ambulance.
They all gather at the airplane casino the following day and Michael explains what he intends on doing. He mentions how casinos generally don’t take kindly to teams so they must behave as though they don’t know each other. They begin practicing their abilities, and Eric enters his room in the unconsciousness to control how a pair of dice lands.
Leon’s worker isn’t interested as he hasn’t gambled in years. This comes as great news to Michael, who instructs Kevin to hypnotize him into agreeing to gamble. Kevin enters his unconsciousness to alter the worker’s mind and make him interested in playing. While he does this, Leon points out that they’ll easily be caught by security if Kevin keeps staring at people like that.
That’s where Tony comes in, and Michael asks if he can make the cameras face a different direction. Tony successfully gets the camera to move, and Kevin uses his hypnotism to convince the worker to gamble. They begin practicing their skills, with some of Leon’s casino staff standing in as actual workers and checking to see if they’ll notice strange movements.
Kevin hypnotizes the croupier so he doesn’t notice what’s going on, and they begin playing. He doesn’t notice as Eric alters the dice and gets them to land on the exact numbers that he wants. Michael is excited as he sees that there’s a high chance of his plan succeeding. He asks everyone to continue playing without his instructions and goes to watch from the surveillance room.
This is where everything goes south as the croupier gets stuck in a loop saying “place your bets”. The worker who was hypnotized into gambling goes on a losing streak against Leon and becomes agitated. Kevin tries to revert the croupier’s loop but accidentally hypnotizes him into thinking he can’t see. Tony is unable to move the cameras away, showing that they could easily be caught.
Chaos ensues as the worker picks up his gun and points it at Leon while demanding his money back. Michael rushes to the casino floor and stops the worker from shooting Leon. Sometime after this, he discusses with Leon and realizes that the team won’t be able to function properly without his direct supervision. Realizing he has no other option, he decides to try recruiting Tamara and travels to her home.
Michael arrives to witness a funeral and finds out its Tamara’s. He observes several women disturbing a young lady named Veronica while asking for help. It turns out that Veronica is Tamara’s granddaughter. and daughter. Just then, an SUV pulls up at the funeral and several agents step out. Veronica realizes they’re there for her and begins running, with the men in pursuit.
Michael understands what’s going on and realizes that Veronica has the same abilities as Tamara. He decides to help her escape the men pursuing her and gets around quickly using a map of the city. Veronica temporarily escapes the agents, and Michael meets her. He returns her headphones and offers his proposition, which she refuses as she has read his mind and knows what it’s about.
Just then, and agent spots her and they continue pursuing her. She gets stuck at a dead end, but Michael emerges and offers to save her. She hesitantly agrees to join him and they finally escape.
Three days remain in the week Michael was given to return Victor’s money. Gordon decides to go on a personal con mission while learning how to use the unconsciousness. He walks up to some workers who are packing an art exhibit. A hypnotist sends him into the unconsciousness, where he finds two people he intends on using for his heist, and gets them to do what he wants.
The first person is an artist, who suddenly begins painting on a fresh canvass. Next, he controls one of the guards and gets him to pick one of the artworks. The painter finishes his work in barely a few minutes and it turns out to be an exact copy of one of the artworks. The guard switches it while everyone is distracted by Gordon’s sudden collapse.
Gordon eventually wakes up and goes to the artist, who can’t comprehend what just happened. He has no idea that he’s staring at an original piece of art, and Gordon buys it from him for just five hundred euros.
Elsewhere, Michael and the others gather in a crowded area, and he introduces them to Veronica. He explains that Veronica can read and transmit thoughts, and she will pass his instructions to them as they play. Michael decides to test their abilities and see if they can successfully work together. Veronica goes into her unconsciousness and links the team’s minds.
Michael instructs Eric to ring the large bell, and Veronica is able to pass the message directly into his thoughts. Kevin hypnotizes two people and makes them run around screaming for help. Tony causes the lights to short-circuit and explode. People in the area begin panicking, and Veronica gets them to run away by making them think an earthquake is about to hit them. Everyone runs away from the area, leaving only the team. Every instruction they carried out was transmitted directly into their minds.
The team is able to effectively work together and Michael discusses their plan while buying them drinks. Winning in small amounts will take too much time and might get them blacklisted from other casinos. Instead, Michael intends that they go to the biggest casino in town where there are no betting limits. They’ll use one night to make one big score, and reminds them that they can’t be seen as a team.
The team goes to a boutique, where they purchase clothes to match the characters they’ll be portraying in the casino. Tony is going to stands as a transformation manager and security consultant. Kevin is going in as a trust fund kid while Eric will go in as himself. Veronica is going to stand as Michael’s fiancé, and they all choose their outfits.
They make their way to the casino shortly after, and Veronica links their minds to her unconsciousness. Everyone splits up while Michael passes their instructions through to Veronica. Tony moves the cameras away from their individual tables, allowing the team to work without fear of being caught. Eric then moves the pieces he’s instructed to move.
While they’re working, Michael talks to Veronica about how they’re the ideal couple and he intend to be with her. Veronica reminds him that she can read his mind but he doesn’t care and wants to find a way to be with her. They instruct Eric not to win yet while they move to another game. Unfortunately, Tony gets carried away as he manipulates the machines to win.
Meanwhile, Eric I tired of waiting and has too much to drink. He decides to go against Michael’s instructions and begins using his powers to win in a loud and obnoxious way. Michael tries getting him to stop but he refuses and claims nothing is going to happen.
As though things weren’t bad enough, Tony gets up from his seat and plays multiple machines simultaneously. Veronica tells him to stop so they don’t get caught, but he refuses because he wants to hit a jackpot. Two security guards suddenly meet Tony and Eric and ask them to come upstairs. Terrified by what might happen, they follow the guards into an elevator but find Michael and the others inside.
Michael asks if they’re out of their minds and warns that they could lose their lives if they continue what they’re doing. An old lady walks into the elevator as he speaks, and he decides to stop talking until she gets off. Michael asks them to follow his lead if they want to leave the building alive and rich, and everyone gets back on board.
The team go to the craps table one at a time so they don’t look like a team. Michael goes all in on his bet and Kevin hypnotizes the croupier while Tony moves the camera away. Michael prepares to throw the dice and Eric alters its movement, allowing it to land on the number he wants. This makes the team hit a jackpot of ten million euros and they leave the building.
Everyone celebrates their victory that night over a bonfire and they even go ahead to play games. Michael sees Veronica sitting on her own instead of having fun and goes to speak to her. She asks what he wants but he wonders if they can do another job together. She seemed to enjoy the last heist they pulled off and Michael says they can go their separate ways after that.
Veronica isn’t interested in his offer and says she doesn’t need money. This annoys Michael, who asks why she hasn’t left since she could leave at any time. Veronica calls Michael a selfish gambler who is trapped in his own vice. Michael stands up as she says no and begins walking away. He asks Veronica to remain in her cocoon with her fears, music, and nothing else. He says there’s no hope in her cocoon and walks away.
Elsewhere, Alex talks to Gordon and congratulates him for the progress he has made in learning to use the unconsciousness. He, however says their learning must come to an end because Gordon doesn’t have a partner. Gordon informs him that he’s trying to get a partner but it’s taking more time than expected. He asks Alex how Michael is doing and Alex informs him that Michael isn’t alone anymore.
They realize that Michael is also involved in using super humans to run con missions. Gordon had plans on getting Michael to meet him but realizes they have to follow a different approach. He decides to find another way to get Michael to meet him.
Only one day left in Michael’s seven day window and the team drives through a route in the mountains. A black vehicle suddenly begins following them and tries cutting them off. Realizing they’re in trouble, Tony, who is driving, tries escaping but another vehicle emerges and joins in the pursuit. The vehicles block the team’s path and they’re unable to move. Tony apologizes to Michael for being unable to escape the assailants.
A third vehicle arrives on the scene as the men restrain Michael and the others. Victor emerges from the car and pulls out his gun while walking to them. Michael says he has his money but Victor is interested in the super powered team he gathered. Veronica says she’ll never work for him as she moves his hand from her face.
Victor asks Michael what he can do, and he jokingly says he can turn his gun into a banana. He moves Michael aside and says he won’t let him go because he isn’t taking their situation seriously. He then orders one of his men to execute Michael while the others watch and struggle to stop it from happening. The man forcefully moves Michael to the edge of a cliff and pulls the trigger, sending him to his demise. Everyone remains devastated in their unconsciousness as they mourn the loss of their friend and leader.
Sometime later, and in a different location, some thugs drag a man out of a van and take him to Gordon. They take off the mask on his face and reveal that it’s Michael, who is somehow still alive. Michael is shocked to see Gordon and tries to attack him out of anger. He realizes that Gordon is responsible for crashing his greatest heist. Michael also calls him dad, revealing that Gordon is his estranged father.
Gordon tries explaining himself, saying he didn’t know how else to get his attention. He admits that his idea wasn’t the best and Michael says he should have just called. He gets angry at Gordon for setting him up but Gordon reminds him that he saved him from dying at Victor’s hand. He also reminds Michael of how they both dreamed of finding the door in the wall. Michael wonders what Gordon wants, and Gordon says he knows where to find the door.
Elsewhere, Victor has put Tony, Kevin, and Eric to work in his casino. They are granted a few minutes of break for lunch and Kevin doesn’t feel well. The trio suddenly hear someone in the rest room and go to check what’s going on. They find a repair man working on their toilet and ask what he’s doing. The repair man suddenly shows his face and they’re excited that he’s alive.
Michael asks everyone to be quiet and says he has a plan to get everyone out alive and with their money. He realizes that Veronica isn’t with them and asks where she is. Eric informs him that she refused to for Victor and has been in her subconscious for several days.
They decide to proceed with Michael’s plan and get back to the casino floor. Victor comes to inspect their work when the trio surrounds him and says they quit. He instructs his guards to take them to the basement and await his arrival, as he wants to deal with them personally. The guards escort them downstairs and leave only one person in charge of preventing them from leaving.
Unknown to them, the person they left in charge is Michael, and he frees his teammates as soon as the others leave. Kevin meets a guard and uses his hypnotics to make him open a locked door. Michael and the others shut down the service operators using special keys and head for the safe, which is guarded by lasers.
Michael instructs them to open the safe and leaves to find Veronica. He gets close to her room, which is guarded, and uses gas to knock he guard out. He successfully rescues Veronica and takes her out of the room.
Meanwhile, Tony assists Eric in getting through the lasers and he tries opening the safe. Michael arrives while holding Veronica, and several security guards search for them. He eventually gets the safe open just as the guards are about to reach them. The team takes refuge inside the impenetrable safe and Tony uses his abilities to change the passcode, preventing anyone from coming inside.
Everyone relaxes a bit and ask Michael what their next move is. He says that’s as far as his plan goes and he needs to get to Veronica in the unconsciousness. Tony reminds him that he’s not like them and is a normal human. Michael says they all have rooms in the unconsciousness and that’s how he can get to Veronica. They all advice against it, with Kevin saying he will die if he tries, but Michael insists.
He says it’s the only chance they have in escaping and asks Kevin to make him enter his room. Kevin panics initially but Tony tells him to try. Outside, Victor arrives and instruct his guards to kill the team immediately they step out of the safe. Kevin enters his room and hypnotizes Michael, forcing his mind into the unconsciousness.
Michael wakes up, floating in a white void, and finds a door. He propels himself to the door as though floating through space and struggles to go through it. The door shuts behind him and Michael sees several doors around him. He turns around and finds a terrifying storm heading towards him. Unable to escape the storm, Michael gains control of his surrounding and everywhere returns to normal.
He sits on the floor thinking of where he could find Veronica, and the entire area begins transforming into a city. Michael gets up and walks around in search of Veronica. He eventually finds her staring at the sky and tries approaching her, but can’t reach her because of a force field. She also can’t hear him, and he realizes he has to take her to a place where she’ll be willing to listen.
Their surroundings suddenly transforms to the beach where the team celebrated their successful heist. Michael tries speaking to her again, and this time she can hear him. He says they need to go but Veronica refuses, saying he should be with her. Michael tries convincing her and everywhere transforms to their first encounter, when she was running from the agents during Tamara’s funeral.
Michael stretches out his hand to help her, but she says she doesn’t want to return to the world. She claims not to have anything left there, but Michael says they’re the same. He says she’s all he has left in the world and asks her to believe him. Veronica finally agrees to return with him and grabs his hand.
They appear in the field with the doors, and Veronica asks why he’s risking his life for her. Michael speaks on how he has crossed every limit of his life because of her, and she finds the door they need to return through. Michael informs her that he can’t return with her, and he’ll have to find his own way out. Panicked by this information, Veronica doesn’t want to let him go on his own, but Michael promises to return. He sends her through the door, and she wakes up in the real world.
Everyone in the room is shocked that Michael successfully got Veronica out but remains worried because he hasn’t woken up. Meanwhile, Michael remembers as Gordon explains how each door represents the entrance to everyone’s life. Michael points out that the doors are closed to them but Gordon says they all have backdoors. The unconsciousness has vast knowledge that can allow them get whatever they want and Gordon says he has thought of another business.
He points out how a person can only spend eight minutes in that world before their mind is merged with that of every subconscious mind. He also says that it can be overcome if he has a partner, someone to remind him who he is and bring him back to his senses. Gordon asks Michael to be his partner because he doesn’t have anyone else.
Michael is annoyed because his team is in trouble and Gordon agrees to help. He gives Michael the artefact that helps normal people navigate through the unconsciousness and says someone will help him out when he goes to save his friends.
Back in the unconsciousness, Michael sees someone walking around and follows him through a door. They arrive at the scene of his attempted murder by Victor, and Michael stands beside Alex, who reveals how he got him out alive. Victor shows that he was actually the guard holding the gun, but used his power of illusion to make everyone think otherwise. Alex instructs Michael to step to the right and fall, revealing that he didn’t get hit by the bullet.
Michael finally wakes up, and everyone is relieved that he survived. He instructs everyone to gather the money because they’re leaving. After gathering the money, Michael instructs Tony to fix the lock so they can leave, but Tony is hesitant because of the armed guards. Michael asks Tony to trust him, and Tony agrees.
He inputs the password and the safe doors open. To everyone’s surprise, there aren’t any guards at the entrance and the team walks out safely. Michael mentions how his plan was controlling his enemy by altering what he thinks will happen. He opens a part of the safe, allowing Victor to believe they’re crawling out.
Victor sends all the guards after them and they have no idea that the team is still in the safe. The team casually walked out of the casino and eventually go to a beach where they meet Alex. Michael hands over some of the money and Alex commends them for their work. He says he has a proposition for that that’s better than pulling off heists at a casino. Just then, a strange figure emerges and holds a ball of fire in their hand.
Three months later, Gordon walks down the street and Michael meets him. They have a slight argument about money but Gordon asks if Michael is ready for the greatest scam of his life. Michael says he is, and two hypnotists suddenly emerge and send them into the unconsciousness.
Michael was an everyday con artist with daddy issues. He landed in a mountain of trouble that made him realize that the world was much bigger than he thought. He gathered a team of extraordinary people to engage in one of the greatest heists in history. Although they still faced trouble along the way, the team came out successful, with Michael rekindling his relationship with his estranged father, Gordon, and finding love in Veronica. Do you think Michael is the greatest con artist in the world?
