Zombie (2018) Full Recap

She really wants a dog, but zombies aren't allowed to have pets. In a planned community called Seabbrook, an explosion occurs at a power plant and spreads a contaminated green haze around the town. Unfortunately, this causes half of the population to turn into braineing zombies who start attacking normal humans. After a while, the normal humans built a big barrier to keep the zombies from coming into Seabbrook.

This made the town safe, and the normal humans were able to return to their perfect lives. 50 years later, things are now different for the zombies, who have turned their side of the barrier into a town called Zombie Town. They also wear governmentissued coveralls and are made to follow a strict curfew. Thanks to several advancements in science, the zombies now have to wear bracelets called Zbands, which deliver electromagnetic pulses that keep them from eating brains. As part of the government's efforts to slowly accept the zombies back into Seabbrook, teenagers from Zombie Town are allowed to attend a human high school called Seabbrook High.

A zombie named Zed is one of the teenagers who will get to attend Seabbrook High for the first time. and he looks excited because he wants to try out for the football team. Elsewhere in Seabbrook, a girl named Addison gets ready for her first day at Seabbrook High. She also looks excited because she wants to join the cheer squad and become a popular cheerleader at the school. Even though Addison believes she'll fit in just well at Seabbrook High, she seems worried that she's not exactly like the other people in Seabbrook.

Interestingly, Addison has a strange genetic condition that causes her hair to be white. For years, doctors have had no explanation for it. And Addison has been forced to wear a wig to hide her normal hair so that people won't think she's a freak. Only Addison's family is aware of her condition.

And she believes she has to keep things that way. Back in zombie town, Zed leaves his room and sees his sister Zoe playing with her stuffed toy. Interestingly, Zoe has always wanted a pet, but she can't get one because the government doesn't allow zombies to own pets. Zed acts like a dog to make his sister happy, and she enjoys this.

After this, their dad serves them breakfast and tells Zed that he's not really sure about letting his son join the football team. He says that even though Zed is a great kid, he hasn't spent a lot of time around humans who don't really like zombies. Zed says it's because they've not met him and that he's sure he can make humans like him. Elsewhere, Addison prepares for school and heads down to meet her parents, who have really high expectations for her.

Addison's mom, Missy, is the mayor of Seabbrook, and her dad, Dale, is the police chief, who ensures that the zombies act accordingly and never cross the barrier. Missy says she wants Addison to make the cheer squad and win the upcoming cheer championship. Missy says the school has won all the last championships and she wants her daughter to help continue that tradition. Addison believes her mom is putting too much pressure on her, but Dale encourages her and says he's sure she'll do just fine.

Her parents also remind her not to take off her wig because they're worried about what people might say about their daughter. After this, Addison heads out and looks excited for her first day. Back in Zombie Town, Zed leaves his house and goes to call his friend Eliza so they can head to school. While Zed seems optimistic about his first day, Eliza doesn't like humans.

And she complains about how zombies have always been treated badly. As she suggests, starting a revolution and fighting for their rights, Zed says they need to be patient because he believes they'll slowly get accepted by the humans. He adds that being allowed to go to a normal school is a good first step and he's sure things will improve. After this, their friend Bonso, who only speaks a special zombie language, shows up and they all head to school together.

Meanwhile, on Addison's way to school, she meets her cousin Bucky, who is the school's cheer team captain. Enjoy the cheer championship with some fellow zombies. When the zombies arrive at the school, they see that there's still a barrier keeping them from using the normal entrance. Zed sees Addison entering the school and he seems attracted to her.

Meanwhile, Bucky gets scared when he sees Bonso. A security guard thinks Bonso intentionally scared Bucky. And as she grabs him, Zed stands up for his friend and says that everything is fine. However, Eliza seems pissed because she didn't like how the guard immediately saw Bonso as a threat.

Elsewhere, Bucky tells Addison that they can't let the zombies change their town. He refers to them as monsters, but Addison says the zombies are just going to school like them. Bucky believes zombies are freaks, and he tells Addison that they're nothing like them. He adds that he can't even have any sympathy for zombies because their grandfather was almost eaten by those monsters.

Addison says it was just a small bite. But Bucky seems tired of arguing about zombies, so he announces that there'll be cheer tryyous later today after school. As he walks away, a girl named Bri looks excited and introduces herself to Addison. She says she has always dreamed of being on the cheer squad because she wants to be a flyer who will be tossed high in the sky.

Addison looks happy to see someone who loves cheer as much as she does. After she introduces herself to Bri, they both look happy and head to their first class together. Meanwhile, the zombies are eventually allowed to take the other entrance, and Zed says he's happy that they won't have to take their classes in the basement. Unfortunately, the other entrance actually leads to the basement.

And when the zombies get there, Zed looks disappointed. The school principal, Miss Lee, seems scared of the zombies and tells them never to leave the basement during school hours. Zed doesn't understand this and he asks if he'll be able to join the football triyouts. Eliza says she also wants to join the computer coding club, and Bonso mentions that he'd like to join the music club.

Lee then says they can't join any clubs because that would require leaving the basement. Zed and the others look disappointed, and Lee eventually heads out. Zombies then notice that their teacher is actually the school's janitor, who doesn't really know much to be able to teach them anything. As Eliza looks disappointed, Zed sneaks out of the class to find his way to the pitch for football tryyouts.

Unfortunately, one of the normal students sees him and freaks out. She then pulls the school's zombie alarm and all the normal students run out of their classes looking scared. Zed tries to explain that he's harmless, but they just avoid him and run away. Meanwhile, Brie seems really scared of zombies, and Addison suggests hiding in a nearby zombie safe room.

Almost immediately, Brie sees Zed behind Addison and runs away. You had no problem using him to win your stupid game. Addison doesn't understand this. But before she can see Zed, he quickly runs into the zombie safe room. Interestingly, Addison also comes in and notices that someone is trying to hide from her.

The room happens to be dark, so she doesn't realize that Zed is a zombie. As they walk toward each other, Addison threatens to kick him if he tries to hurt her, but Zed says he's not like that. He then talks about how his first day hasn't gone exactly as planned. He adds that he still has to try out for the football team, and Addison says she also wants to join the cheer squad.

Zed says it must be tough, but Addison says she likes it. Zed then mentions that his dad doesn't think he'll make the team, but Addison encourages him and says he only needs someone to cheer for him. After she says it will soon be her job to do that, the lights suddenly come on. Addison looks scared and slaps him, but she eventually apologizes.

She says her parents have always told her that zombies are freaks, but that she doesn't think Zed looks like one. As she seems attracted to him, Bucky enters the room with some other students. He quickly pulls Addison away from Zed and tells the zombie to stay away from his cousin. Zed doesn't say anything and Bucky heads out with Addison and the others.

Shortly after, Zed heads to the school pitch for football tryyous. The coach laments that football isn't really a big deal in Seabbrook because it's a cheer town. He adds that the football team is awful and he's sure they won't win a game this year. He then mentions that everyone has made the team except Zed.

Zed looks shocked, but the coach says Lee doesn't want zombies leaving the basement. Zed doesn't like this, but the coach says there's nothing he can do. Shortly after, school closes for the day, and Zed tells Eliza and Bonso that he didn't make the team. He also mentions that he thinks Addison likes him, but Eliza doesn't believe this.

She adds that humans are bad, but cheerleaders are monsters. He is. Elsewhere, Addison, Bri, and some other students stay back for cheer tryyous. Bucky introduces them to the assistant captains, Stacy, Lacy, and Tracy. After this, the tryyouts begin, and Bucky and his assistants eliminate some of the candidates.

Addison and Bri get to the last stage of selection, but Brie gives up and takes a seat because she doesn't think Bucky will let her join the team. Addison feels sorry for Bri, and after she makes the team, she begs Bucky to consider her new friend. Bucky says the Seabbrook cheer team is about precision and perfection. He also jokes that Bri can't hide under a wig like most people.

Addison realizes that he's talking about her, but she just focuses on begging him to accept Bri. Following this, Bucky agrees to let Bri join the team. He then talks about how Cheer is being threatened by the presence of zombies in the town. Addison looks confused, but Bucky says it's time for Cheer initiation.

That night, Bucky and his assistants take Addison and Bri to Zombie Town and stop right in front of Zed's house. He then explains that every year for cheer initiation, they like to remind the zombies that they won't be accepted in Seabbrook. He adds that Bri and Addison have to throw eggs at Zed's house to officially become cheerleaders. Addison and Bri don't want to do this, and they complain about it.

As Bucky is about to force them to do it, a zombie scares him to drive away. He ends up leaving Addison and Bri in zombie town and they quickly hide near Zed's house just as he comes outside. Zed eventually sees them and looks shocked. He then walks back inside so that his dad won't find out that there are humans hiding near the house.

After this, Addison looks sad and says she didn't know zombies had to deal with so much harassment. Okay, on second thought, maybe not. Maybe next time. The next day when she arrives at school, she tells Bucky that it's not nice to pick on the zombies because they're also humans. Bucky doesn't like this and he touches her wig while saying it's better if she doesn't question things or go against him.

He also reminds her that there's a pep rally today and he's sure she'll do well. Elsewhere, Zed arrives at school and complains to Eliza and Bonso about Addison not being different from the other humans who harassed them. Almost immediately, Addison enters the classroom, and the zombies look shocked. She then explains that she came to apologize for what happened last night.

She also mentions that Bucky was the one who drove her to Zombie Town for cheer initiation. Zed accepts her apology, and she asks if he'll come to the pep rally. Eliza says zombies don't do pep rallies, but Zed says they'll think about it. Shortly after, during the pep rally, Zed shows up with his friends.

And even though Addison looks happy, Bucky seems pissed. When the show begins, he decides to scare the zombies by lighting some sparklers. Bonso happens to be scared of fire, and he immediately leaves his seat to attack the cheerleaders. As Zed tries to stop Bonso, his Zband becomes unstable, and this temporarily makes him a full zombie.

The cheerleaders toss Addison up in the air, but Bonso eventually scares them away. With no one left to catch Addison, Zed uses his zombie strength to push through some football players so he can save her. His Zband becomes stable again, and the football team's coach looks impressed and says he wants to speak with Zed. Addison also looks happy that he saved her, but he eventually walks away to meet the coach, who offers him a spot on the team because of how well he was able to get through the football players.

This makes Zed happy, but he says he'll only join the team if Lee agrees to fully integrate the zombies as regular students. Lee says he has to win games before he starts making demands, but the coach eventually convinces her to give Zed something to encourage him. Lee then agrees to let the zombies use the normal cafeteria, and Zed looks pleased because he'll be able to make more demands when he starts winning games. They don't know you're a zombie.

Shortly after, the zombies go to the cafeteria and all the normal students look shocked. Addison can't help but stare at Zed and Bri notices this. Addison says she thinks she likes Zed, but that her parents would never let her go out with a zombie. Bri also thinks it's weird, but she says she won't tell anyone Addison's secret.

Almost immediately, Zed calls Addison to come over to his table. Everyone looks shocked to see what she'll do, but she stands up and tells Bri that she can't be rude. When she gets to the table, Eliza still doesn't like her, but Bonso seems friendly. While she's talking to the zombies, Stacy, Lacy, and Tracy come over to drag her away.

Addison doesn't get this, and she says she's only fighting zombie intolerance. This is a hot bed for zombie activity. It's not safety. The cheer team's assistant captains don't care about what she thinks she's doing, and they mention that she's weird. They also mentioned that Bucky already said there was something different about her.

Addison looks worried that they might know about her hair and she quickly mentions that she's normal. They then warn her to stop talking to the zombies. Addison looks sad and eventually leaves the cafeteria, but Zed follows her. Addison says she's sorry that she couldn't sit with him, but Zed says he understands.

He adds that he believes things will eventually change and they'll be able to hang out in public one day. Addison then talks about how hard it is to fit in at the school. Zed says she's perfect, but she tells him about her hair. Zed asks if he can see it, but she says she can't remove her wig because her parents have always made her wear it so she won't look like a freak.

Later that day, at the school's first football game of the season, Zed gets knocked down a few times because his teammates don't want to cover for him. Bucky looks pleased, but Addison continues hoping that Zed will perform well. The other team takes a huge lead and at halftime, the coach of Seabbrook High tells Zed to do whatever he did at the pep rally. Zed doesn't think he can use the Zband, but as he thinks about the benefits of winning a game.

He goes to meet Eliza to help him hack into it. Eliza says she can't do it because it's dangerous, but Zed gets her to change her mind after talking about the potential benefits. Eliza then helps him and warns him not to swipe right because it can corrupt the software. Zed says he won't do that and after he heads out for the game.

He plays much better with increased strength. Bucky doesn't look happy and as Addison tries to cheer for Zed and the team, he scolds her. Zed eventually wins the game for Seabbrook High and as the normal students look happy for him, Bucky seems annoyed. Principal Lee eventually keeps her promise and as Zed wins more games for the school, she lifts most of the restrictions placed on zombies.

Bucky doesn't like this. And as more students mingle with the zombies, he seems jealous that Zed is becoming more popular. As Addison is about to head over to meet him, Bucky pulls her back and tells her to choose between being a cheerleader and being pro-Zie. Addison says she loves being a cheerleader and Bucky tells her to stop hanging out with the zombies.

This makes her sad, but she agrees to do it. Days later, Zed wins more games for the football team, and Addison leaves him a note in his locker, saying she's cheering for him on the inside. Zed looks pleased about this, and he also gets Bonso to give her a note on his behalf. Addison then reads the note and realizes that Zed wants her to come to Zombie Town.

She looks excited about this and decides to go. That night, she meets Zed at the barrier and he takes her into zombie town. While they're inside an elevator, Addison notices that Zed is touching his arm strangely. She asks what's wrong and Zed tells her that he has to mess with his Zband to win games.

Addison says she thought it was dangerous and Zed says it is, but that he doesn't have another option. Following this, the elevator stops and Zed takes Addison to a party where the other zombies are having fun. Eliza doesn't look happy to see Addison, but Zed decides not to say anything about this. He then sings and dances with the other zombies, and Addison also joins them.

After the performance, Zed stands alone and holds his wrist while feeling pain. Bonso seems concerned, and Zed says he can barely feel his wrist, but that he's sure he'll be fine. Elsewhere, Addison sees Zoe pretending to be a cheerleader. Zoe immediately stops, but Addison praises her and says she's a good cheerleader.

Zoe says cheer makes her happy, but that her pet stuffed toy doesn't seem to like her performances. Addison then says Zoe is old enough to have a real pet. Suddenly, Eliza comes in and tells Addison to stop teasing Zoe because everyone knows zombies aren't allowed to have pets. Addison looks surprised and says she had no idea.

She adds that she's just learning some new things about zombies because they're completely different from what she was told. She says that Eliza, for example, is smart and pretty. Eliza looks amazed and appreciates this. And when Zed comes in, she tells him that Addison is cool.

After Eliza takes Zoe home, Zed walks around a zombie light park with Addison. As they seem drawn to each other, some cops arrive at the scene and Zed quickly escapes. Addison gets caught by an officer named Gus, who asks what she's doing there alone because it's past curfew in Zombie Town. Addison looks confused when she hears about the curfew, but she eventually heads home.

When she gets there, her parents scold her for leaving the house at night. They ask what she was up to, and she says she was out with a boy. Her parents then insist on seeing the boy, or they'll make her quit the cheer team. Addison looks worried and scared because she knows that her parents will never accept Zed as her boyfriend.

The next day, the pain in Zed's arm worsens, and Eliza says he needs to stop using the Zband hack. However, Zed says he still needs it for the homecoming game. Stacy, Lacy, and Tracy hear this while spying on Zed, and they realize that he has been messing with his Zand. They quickly inform Bucky about this and he makes them pretend to be nice to Eliza so they can steal her laptop.

Shortly after, Zed meets Addison and says sorry for running away when the cops arrived. Addison says she has a bigger problem because her parents want to meet Zed. Zed realizes that Addison's parents hate zombies, and he says he's sorry for making things difficult for her. Addison says it's not his fault, and that she might quit the cheer team if her parents can't accept zombies.

Zed tells her not to do that because she loves being a cheerleader and it's what makes her special. Coach wants you on his team. A while later, Zed decides to swipe right on his Zband to make himself more human and this corrupts the software. It also helps Bucky and his assistants gain access to the software so they can manipulate it.

The next day, Zed goes to Addison's house to introduce himself as Addison's boyfriend. Addison's parents look happy because they think he's human. But as Addison leaves with him, she asks what he did. Zed says he swiped right on the Zband and that he thinks they have enough time to go on a date.

Addison looks happy, but while they're on a date, she says she doesn't like the fact that they have to change who they are just to be together. Zed says he knows it's not ideal, but he's sure they'll make it work. After their date, they head to school for the homecoming game. Hello.

During the game, Addison and Bri break Buckyy's rules by cheering for Zed, and they get kicked off the team. Some of the other cheerleaders don't like this, and they voluntarily quit the team. After a while, Stacy manages to stop the Zed Band from being functional when Zed tries to hack it. Despite this, he still manages to win the game for his team by being himself.

Stacy then takes the Zand offline, and Zed turns into a full zombie. This also affects Eliza and Bonso. And as they head toward the normal students, everyone runs away. Zed goes after Bucky, but he eventually tries to stop himself from attacking the cheer captain. Bucky looks surprised, but Gus shows up to make Zed normal again before arresting him.

Addison tells the cops not to arrest the zombies because they are her friends, but Eliza says they have no human friends. Addison then realizes that the students have turned against the zombies. Her parents also criticize the zombies, but Addison doesn't like this. She then yells at the students for only being fans of zombies when Zed was helping the football team win games.

She also takes off her wig and decides to take a stand to defend the zombies. Her parents look shocked. The cheerleaders are amazing. But Addison doesn't seem to care about what they think. Unfortunately, the zombies are eventually taken away and locked in a zombie containment facility before being dropped off in Zombie Town.

Eliza seems pissed that they got the blame for everything, even though the cheerleaders were the ones who stole her laptop and sabotaged their Zbands. She says she's tired of being treated unfairly, and it's time for them to take the fight to the humans. As she walks away, Bonso and Zed also head home. Zed's dad scolds Zed for adjusting his Zband because he could have hurt himself.

Zombie (2018) Ending Explained

He says he never wants Zed to change who he is because he loves his son as a zombie. The next day, Bucky kicks some students off the cheer team because they're still in support of having zombies around. This leaves him with only a few cheerleaders, but he doesn't think that will stop him from winning the upcoming cheer championship. The next day, the zombies return to Sebrook High to clean out their lockers.

Eliza doesn't go with them, and as Bonso helps clean her locker, he sees the design of a device that Eliza wants to use to sabotage the cheer championship. Bonso shows Zed the design, and they leave the school to find Eliza. Later that night, during the cheer championship, Addison sees Zed walking around with Bonso, and she looks shocked. She eventually leaves her seat and sees Zed scolding Eliza for trying to sabotage the event.

Addison supports Eliza because she thinks the zombies have to make a statement to get everyone to respect them. However, Zed says it's not who they are and that zombies aren't monsters. Almost immediately, Brie comes over to inform them that it's time for Cabbrook's performance. Unfortunately, the cheer team doesn't perform well because some of the new members aren't really good enough.

As the crowd booze them, Bucky looks disappointed. After the cheer team walks away, ready to break every rule in the book, Zoe goes on stage and begins her solo performance. Zed and the others initially look confused, but they realize that Zoe is trying to make a change. Zed also realizes that the zombies need to allow humans to accept them for who they are because they'll never be normal.

Following this, Addison suggests joining Zoey on stage and they all agree. As they walk toward the stage, they see Bucky and Eliza tells him to join them, but he says he can't. Despite this, Zed and the others join Zoe and entertain the crowd. Everyone enjoys seeing the zombies on stage, and Zoe eventually convinces Bucky to join them because he's the best cheerleader she has ever seen.

After this, he leads the team again, and they all look happy together. Unfortunately, Seabbrook High doesn't win the competition, but the final performance helps humans realize that they can coexist with zombies. As they all attend a party in Zombie Town, Addison gets a pet for Zoe, and this makes her and Zed really happy. Huckle out there.

Remember to slack. After being allowed to go to a normal school with his friends, Zed realizes that zombies still aren't fully accepted by humans. Despite facing harassment and insults, he remains optimistic that things will change one day. He eventually meets a girl named Addison who also wants zombies to be accepted.

And they work together to achieve their goal so that zombies and humans can live together in peace.
